getting married in Riu Palace October 9th 2010. I went w their caprice package as it included 60 guests (96 booked & counting) They did charge me a fee for over the 60 guests included in the package but it was very small as the resort is already all inclusive. We did pay for "extras" such as private reception, extra time for reception and extra time for the DJ. they are very accomadating and i literally wrote them an email with lists of questions, which they replied to in detail. They are even allowing my friend whos a pastry chef into their kitchen to decorate my cake!!! Please ask them for pictures of locations, resturant choices, table set ups, flowers, cakes etc. If you find pics of what you want, feel free to send them to the WC and ask if its possible for them to do. They will let you know. I have some pictures too if you want to private message me for me to send i would be happy to share!!! GL to all

good to know, my resort recommended WeDo. i called for more information and got a friendly & informative staff member but as it can be understood we're still hesitant to send off our personal information. They advised the same--not to send the documents until June for an October wedding as they expire. and i believe the cost was $125.00 usd per person or $250 for the couple. good luck!

Like most other brides i can relate! We are getting married in Punta Cana at the Riu Palace in October and found out that from NYC (where most of our guests are leaving from) American Airlines & Jet Blue are the only two airlines that flies direct. The service on Jet Blue is new and very limited so that leaves them to fly American Airlines. Being that we have a large guest list (96 guests & counting) we made it known to our guests that there was a greater possibility of not being able to get a flight on the days of their choice. We also set up a great package deal w our travel agent and firmly let them know that June 1st is the deadline. 3 months ahead is plenty of times notice! Like everyone else said, we do have to plan a wedding here! Maybe email updates letting your guests know that the resort needs to finalize your count (true or untrue) by a certain date would help put the fire under them to commit or decline! best of luck to all!

I am so sorry to hear this is happening to you but when i read the post i was like omg! literally two days ago my matron of honor told me she was pregnant and is scheduled to deliver at the end of August. She wont be able to attend. Her son (my god child) was supposed to be a ring bearer also. I am so sad that they wont be there. We have been friends for 15 years. But what mrsrhbtobe said hit home. life is unpredictable and we will have the rest of our married lives to spend and include each other....but im still considering a live internet feed somehow...LOL i'll keep you posted. I agree with everything you ladies said! I have a 12 person bridal party and 60 guests so far. My FI family is a little slow on making moves and its driving me crazy. My coworkers booked before his mother! I am also frustrated with the back and forth emails as well. My other stresses include the paperwork for legal ceremonies & getting my dress there (let alone finding the dress) its funny cause i am not usually stressed! Ah the joys of wedding planning right.. But in the end ladies we are getting something the stay at home bride doesn't. A week long celebration with family & friends when other brides only get a couple of hours. Enjoy all your days ladies cause you deserve it!!!

hello october 2010 brides! we are getting married 10.9.10 at the Riu Palace Punta Cana DR. We got engaged July 4th and had our engagement party on 10.23. I gave the save the dates out as part of the favors at the engagement party. I am a graphic designer so of course it was a DIY project. I designed passports with detachable magnets. Hi! I orginally tried for the 10.10.10 date at the Riu and they do not hold sunday weddings. no exceptions. (we offered to pay more) we decided that 10.9.10 was a great date too and on 10.10.10 we would be married....we decided it was more important also to take advantage of the 3 day weekend that most people get cause its columbus day so that our guests could make it there for the long weekend. All that said and done, we are booked for 10.9.10 for Riu Palace Punta Cana!!!

i was thinking the same thing...let me know if you find out. I think its worth the chance. maybe repackage them? not suggesting you attempt to defy the airport security but i think if you check them you will be okay. i mean how much are you planning to take?

JUSTUSTWO: i have wondered the same thing about monogramming the bags. I do want people to reuse them. I am a graphic designer and designed our monogram so i was afraid it was too um, pushy? to assume everyone would want it on their bags.
