We were lucky enough to find a grey suit w a marigold pinstripe in them which is the color of my bridesmaids dresses. Our groomsmen wanted to dress up so i got lucky but i thought the same that the guys should look sharp considering im wearing a formal gown! Try men's warehouse. we got ours in a local ny chain for a great price. hope this helps.
  3. i tried on a million dresses....and here's the one. I cant wait till i get it!!! i LOVE my dress! told FI he might come home one day after the wedding and find me sitting on the couch w the dress on! not fair we only get to wear it once
  4. I think everyone at one point or another has faced this type of adversity once they announced that they planned on a destination wedding. We got everything from excitement to "are you serious" well I got it the worst from my parents that my sisters weren't in the same place we were financially and that we needed to take that into consideration. I told my mother that i would...on their wedding days. For the thousand dollars or so they had to save for their trip consider the expenses that we had to save for! We gave our guests over a year and a half to plan and save which we think is plenty of time and low and behold we have booked 98 out of the 297 invited! My sisters eventually got w the program! My FI & I are comfortable with our decision to get married in DR and can't freaking wait! Celebrate you & your FI! you deserve it!
  5. I am getting married at the Riu Palace Punta Cana in Oct. and the wedding coordinators emailed me back today & have agreed to let one of my guests, who is a pastry chef, decorate my cake for me! They will prepare a 3 tier white tres leches layer cake for me and my friend will bring all the fondant , decorations & sugar flowers from home! Here is my inspiration picture-its not in my wedding colors & also minus the butterflys-in its place she will do orange cali lilies and green orchids sugar flowers)
  6. Used Dollar tree for my engagement party centerpieces and totally forgot about using them for my wedding until a friend reminded me when i complained about the resort charging me 10 per table for candles! I was totally satisfied w the look and quality too! They have a great wedding section w ideas for DIY add ons, candles or vases. Happy Shopping!!!! Dollar Tree, Inc.: Weddings
  7. I had wanted to do one for our engagement party but wasn't able to in time...am thinking there is a way to do it at my reception in DR just avoid chocolate candies!? anyhow, i got vases for my engagement party centerpieces at the dollar tree store online (you can order in bulk-super cheap!) and they have a lot of glasswear you could use to hold the candies...not to mention alot of great centerpiece alternatives and adds Dollar Tree, Inc.: Weddings

  13. Hey Gals, So my girlfriend found this site for me that has all kinds of great OOT bags, only catch is that you have to buy in a large qty (which works for me as I have a large guest list) still figured i'd let you girls know cause there are some great options! Lots of colors to choose from. The re-useable fabric bags are like 78 cents apiece! maybe if you dont need a large qty you can find another bride to split with or ebay them? GL! SUPER cheap Re-useable OOT Bags -Large QTy
  14. my friend did this at her wedding and it really added to the cocktail hour. we had a lot of fun doing it. she didnt use a polaroid but got this fuji instant camera instead. its not too expensive....also maybe enlist your bridal party to go around and take pics of the guests w a regular digital camera if you dont want to spend the money?? hope this helps! Fuji Instax Mini Instant Camera
  15. you did a great job! im super impressed. im a graphic designer and i know its no easy feat to teach yourself illustrator either! i love that you included the dress code on your invite cause alot of guests have been asking me that! thanks for sharing!
  16. After chatting w my MOH & FI we both agreed that we should invite everyone as well... and they can choose i guess to come or not. I dont want to assume to exclude them. my moh was thinking of doing a BBQ or luau possibly for the shower... we'll see ugh sometimes i think we are just playing by a different set of rules w the whole destination wedding! LOL thanks for the advice
  17. We set a booking deadline as of June 1st for our guests (in order to help us plan better). Our save the date was pretty elaborate and served as the initial invitation. We have sent numerous email updates and have our website so I am planning only on sending out the formal invites to the officially booked guests in the end of June Is this right? Also, saw a great idea that the rsvp card was the guests arrival and departure dates (as they are obviously attending as their trips are booked) the bride then attached those rsvp cards to the guests OOT bags (as it had their names & arrival dates) for the resort to put in the guests room. Thoughts
  18. love it, sent it to my dad and asked him when our first practice session was! thanks for sharing

    Hello!

congratulations! best of luck & happy planning! you will find a lot of great ideas, thoughts & people here.
  20. Hey gals, just wanted to share (although a little late) my diy save the date passports. we gave them out as part of the favor at our engagement party. couldn't have done it w out the help of my dad who drilled all the holes in those peso charms!
  21. so, my MOH has asked me for a list of guests that I'd like to invite to my wedding shower. Do you just ask the guests who plan on attending the wedding or do you invite everyone you invited to the wedding? I dont want to seem like we are out for gifts but I do think it would be nice to continue to include our family & friends who aren't able to make it to the wedding for one reason or another.....also what are your thoughts on a co-ed shower
  22. i think that you should do whatever you think is best. you don't have to let anyone know you helped her out and maybe if she is too proud to take the trip you can always offer to loan her the money for the trip? good luck!
  23. Saw this product on tv and thought it would be great for all your DIY products, OOT bags etc. Its a little bit of an investment (looks like it cost 350.00) but it looks like the possibilites are endless not to mention you can contuine to use it after the wedding! thinking of getting one myself so i just thought i'd share! https://www.4yudu.com/index.asp?gcli...FZdM5QodbihJBA
  24. not sure if they have one near you but i always see tons of ads for David's Bridal and they sell dresses for as low as $100! since you are a small size you may be able to buy one off the rack? hope this helps! best of luck
