Congrats and Welcome! I wouldn't worry too much about what's going on in Mexico. Most resorts have very high security and are often secluded from these towns, etc. -

Happy Planning! I think you should really research the resorts and see what each has to offer. Then I'd pick what has the amenties, etc that are most important to you, but also your guests as well!
