  1. I love the sounds of steel drums and as we are already doing a mariatchy trio during cocktail hour we dont have a budget for both, I came across this guy on another blog and really like him, I will get the cd's put onto the ipod and use that for pre-ceremony as guests are getting settled in Steel Drum Wedding Music CDs and MP3s
  2. I was reading one of the other blogs and came across this amazing guy and his steel drums, I am way over budget already but as we will have the speakers and microphone I figure (will double check with Cecilia) plug in an ipod and have a cd of his for pre-ceremony although if anyone knows a good and cheap steel drummer I would love to know here is the link Steel Drum Music :: Videos
  3. Thanks Simistar I got the email! Thats good to know about the band - we are considering a mariatchi trio for after the ceremony for 45 min. Simistar did you get Cecilia to upgrade the set up at all? In terms of linen or bows on the tall round tables? There are some vendors that do lounge furniture but its soo expensive... Quick question to all the girls - from the pictures and this blog it seems most people are choosing 3, 4 pm even in the fall, so about an hour before sunset for that time. I booked 2 pm on November 19, 2010 and I believe there is already a second wedding that day at 4 pm, also at the beach so I cant make it later anyway but is 2 pm not a good time? is it too bright compared to the softer light later on? I first went with two cause I figure 30 min. for ceremony, 30 min for us to hang out at the cocktail hour and take group pictures and then us we want pictures in two locations then another 1.5 hours for that so we aimed to finish every by 5 before it gets dark... are we starting too early?
  4. We finally have November 19, 2010 booked for our reception! Whew it only took 2 months of COUNTLESS emails with Cecilia at Secrets and Ana at Dreams, but we are there! woot woo
  5. Thanks Simistar, yeah I saw your review of the resort and the photographer - they definitly help for the next girls, thanks!!! It would be great to see some picture of the set up, yeah I though of axing the pomanders in the gazeebo as well, but will include them still on the chairs. If you could email them to be it would greatly appreciated [email protected]
  6. Thanks lolo, booking the whole wedding has been such a nightmare (still pending) that its fun to actually get excited about cute little things
  7. Yeah 25 per when you can buy them for under 10 is crazy, but I do wonder whether the hassle of carrying them down, ironing them as I am sure you would have to and carrying them on the plane is actually worth it. Plus what are you going to do with 6 or 7 tablecloths? Speaking out loud here though, I am quite picky so seing the product ahead of time has its advantages as well... what to do what to do
  8. If and when I find out from Ana how much that set up I will definitly let you girls know, I emailed her back (she actually has been quite good in responding promptly) but it is the 1st and all so I dont expect to hear back now for a couple of days
  9. yeah I really liked the whole thing, wooden brown chairs and all the attachment is what the basic free set up looks like sans the blue bows 'free' set up on the DRC deck.doc
  10. SDBeachgirl sorry forgot to mention I look first at taffeta overlay, organza for me is a bit of a hit or a miss, although I may buy it here and bring it with, still trying to limit amount of items that will be purchased Our colors are turquoise/blue and orange/coral/pink, so when I came across the set up (see link) I really liked it, I might just ask Ana to duplicate it, all in blue no green though Reception at DRC.doc
  11. SDBeach Girl - yeah I know that is the second location, Ana and her team are now thinking of moving it a third, so yet another new option, I saw that site. Ana if anyone is interested also sent me two weddings that took place there, the problem is if the photographer looks back there is no way for them to avoid other people or the building, funny enough I think the building is a bigger problem then the people in those pictures, but maybe its just me. From what I understood from Ana is if you look at the resort the beach wedding site is on the left, and they are going to move it right away from the volleyball court, the bar, etc. Oh and I guess I should also clarify Cam + Kate - November 19, 2010 (ceremony at Secrets Maroma)
  12. sorry guess it was in the wrong format - man cant wait till I have enough posts so I can just paste things in and open links Ceremony set up.doc
  13. maybe to make it easier to visualize this is the set up with a picture up close of what I mean Thanks girls!!
  14. Also - I am during my reception back at DRC but considering doing cocktail hour at the beach, did any of you have a mariatchy band for it? is it worth it for the cocktail hour? what is the 'basic' set up for the cocktail hour? Cecilia has actually been pretty good with her turn arounds for emails, but she has not gotten back to me about this for ever. If you guys could please email me pictures as I can not open links that would be great! [email protected] Thanks!
  15. Hi sorry I had already posted this at another resort, but for the brides who have gotten married at Secrets Maroma already, what is the height of the beach wedding structure by the water? I am considering hanging rose pomanders off of it and then started to think they might be the same hight so we will either bang up against them or will look like we have huge heads
  16. yeah I love it too - too bad its not within my budget but it should be stunning!
  17. ha ha well I guess it just attached the whole thing for one of the ladies that was asking earlier if it is ok that your bouquet and your girls flowers dont match - I think its just fine. I will have a pink/orange/with a bit of green and they will have white mini callas. I think the white should look sharp against a bright dress.
  18. here is a try of attaching my inspiration board Inspiration for Flowers.doc
  19. Hey guys its been a couple of days I almost feel out of the loop November 19, 2010 - got contract in hand but not signed yet I am doing my ceremony at Secrets Maroma (dont recommend splitting to anyone, I think I am just in too deep but that is the most expensive thing now about our wedding, big yikes!) and when I had spoken to Ana about that, she said that she is aware that many couple are choosing to go else where, she even said that her and management is moving the site of the beach ceremony and although no weddings have taken place there yet she told me she will email me pictures as soon as one does happen - dont want to jump the gun but I think it is good news. Ana mentioned moving the site, if you are looking at the resort now its at the far left by the volleyball court the space wedding structure thing and the bar, and they will move it way right I think maybe even just past the resort? cause I guess that is a quieter side in any case. I am looking at these lights under the table, has anyone used them? If I do a solid overlay do you think it will still work?
  20. Yeah I am in exactly the same mess - big vent coming up... I have an 8 year old cousin who was going to make the trip, so family vacation hotels for the week... I fell in love with the Maroma beach area, so I figure hey we can stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun and have the ceremony and our honeymoon at Secrets Maroma, with the dinner back at DRC as I too was worried about what if weather doesnt cooperate and then what.. So I chug along speaking to Cecilia about prices for the ceremony and I mean down to the white chiavary chairs and the microphone and speakers for the ceremony and then she sends me the contract and has a 'Surprise!' a USD 150 per person walk on fee!!! We are inviting some 50 family and then 50 friends, so if 60 people show up that is USD 7,500 just so that we can use their beach for what an hour!! We were already paying site/minister fee, cocktail hour fee, chair fee, etc. etc. Have any of you come across this? and the ridiculous thing is I have been talking to Cecilia for 2 months and they only mention it now!!!! Have any of you girls come up with a solution to this sort of thing?
  21. exactly right princess 402. Elizabeth said that she will do some scouting but she said because the Playa Del Carmen is a much younger area that I wont find quite the same feel - let me know if you find a fun area
