  1. There are photographers that the resort uses as part of their package, beyond that I did shoot of an email to both Ana at DRC and Cecilia at Secrets Maroma to give them a heads on which outside vendors I like and got their 'ok' on it. I dont know that they would have a fuss, but there is an outside vendor fee, sometimes as my DJ experience is proving, that can be very substantial, grr still cant believe it... sorry just had to vent

Hmm I just typed in my response and it kicked me out – bah humbug Let me start off saying I am super excited that we got Elizabeth, she is a treat to deal with, and was the second contract that we signed and after saying ‘yes’ - like he even had to ask - is probably the best decision I have made. Alrighty, so I wont go into recapping all her prices – let me know if you need more info. and I can post her price list here, but basically for wedding day coverage for 6 hours the price tag is USD 4,750, for 8 hours it is USD 5,250, 10 hours it is USD 5,750. With all these you get a copy of all the pictures taken, we went with 8 hours and also will get 550 pictured edited – that is included. E M then basically has a # of packages, the one we went with is the 8 hours, plus 2 hours on a separate day, that is what we will be using for our TTD session. That option is USD 6,700. The things that I am struggling with the most and maybe you ladies can help me out on this one, and weigh in, is the wedding album. For E M the wedding album, 30 pages that 12†by 12†is USD 2,250 which in my opinion is just crazy, maybe I am naïve but I expected it to be like one tenth of the cost.
  3. Hmm I have just done lots of looking, we have our contract with Secrets Maroma for ceremony and Elizabeth Medina is booked but thats it, I keep trying to get a formal contract from Ana but she keeps saying oh dont worry you got the date - but no formal contract - yikes We have our save the dates prepared but not sent out yet, we havent even booked our flights or hotel - I am trying to enjoy and not get too worried, famout last words
  4. Ashlynn its a tough one, for us it took about 2-3 months to get our resort situation / ceremony site all figured out and that was a big pain in the bum so by then the hubby to be just said spend whatever to make you happy - think its going to be a different story when we get the full bills for everything, but I figure you only get married once
  5. I think I already have the answer but cant find it - how far in advance do we have to order? I still have a ton of time but would be nice to make a mental note

I am in contact with him but I want to make sure we have a FANTASTIC PHOTOGRAPHER. I am big into pics and want to make sure we have some fantastic unique shots! Congrats you are getting married a week after us. When do yu arrive? We are heading to maroma for our honeymoon Sunday the 14th~ - I am super excited we booked Elizabeth Medina! got her for the day plus planning TTD, she offered the next morning, but I am going to wait and see if she has more wedding coming up that week in the area and can day it one or two days after - The ceremony is at Secrets Maroma with a reception to follow at DRC and yes its insane - Pictures were a huge deal for me too, Elizabeth is probably double what we had in our 'budget' is there really such a thing, ours is twice what the FI had though it would be and we are not even done yet, yikes! - Oh fun, we arrive on Nov 14th, and will be at Secrets Maroma from Nov 18th to the 28th - hope to see you there!

I just found a website worth a look too: Mexican Sugar Skull | Offering Day of the Dead / Dia de los Muertos Mexican Folk Art, Sugar Skulls, Calaveras de Azucar, Molds and more - for the paper banner things - super cute! Thats great thank you for the link, its super fun because some of the flags reminded me of our 'borrowed' save the dates - not sure how to incorporate these, but how fun! save the date.doc
  8. We actually did not think about guests staying around at first, but as luck would have it we are already planning on staying 5 nights at DRC and then 7 nights or so at Secrets Maroma - I think if you can swing it money wise, the change of scenery and the added privacy might be nice. On a side note, nice to see some activity on this blog, I was starting to miss all the ladies

An example of that would be Lacy Romance or White Flowers in my blog. It's $5.00 (total order) for each additional color and $.25 per maraca for line of text (i.e. $.25 for date, $.25 for location, $.25 for names). You can check out her site and she is on Facebook for all the different designs - as they are all hand painted you can pretty much get whatever. I have already spoken to Mishka and what I love is they also deliver these to your hotel, depends on where but I believe DRC was USD 40 delivery charge
  10. Ashly just about every hotel, Dreams or otherwise, has an outside vendor fee, at DRC I believe its USD 80 (ladies correct me if I am wrong I looked into this some months back) at others I have checked it was USD 100, so in that ball park, in any case I havent come across a fee as steep at USD 500 - yikes - the fee that I was quoted is per person though One of the things that has urked me a fair bit though is that Dj Doremixx quotes USD 650 for 3 or 4 hours, but at DRC its USD 300 per hour, so for the same 4 hours its USD 1,200 - thats double! and Ana says that any Dj booking has to go thru her - Dj Doremixx and Dj Mannia are the two they work with - the hotel is pocketing USD 550 for nothing
  11. ha ha I am sure we all our own biggest citic, I had no idea what to get the FI first, and this seems like a fun once in a life time idea so why not - but I have to say now that I started to think of like outfits/poses etc. I think the whole experience itself might be fun. The hard part now is finding a place which will be less than 750 with an album, that 300 one of the ladies was quoted I think is a steal!
  12. Sounds great - I am debating to have it as a wedding present to the soon to be hubby - the idea is def. growing on me
  13. Question for you girls - do you give the book the day of the wedding in the morning? after? or did you get these for some other occasion?
  14. t1219 when you try to post it tells you in which format you can do so, make sure that your attachments are in the right format, having 'enough point' is only with opening attachments but you should be able to add attachments at any time - hope this helps
  15. please see attached for the back up location - Ana just sent me this morning, it actually doesnt look that bad to the lady who tried to attach it earlier, jpeg is not a format in which we can attach - I just had to copy it into word and attach it that way also finally got a responce from Ana regarding the fire dancers, its USD 1,000 again not sure what we get for that - so that will be another email (jeez eh?) Happy planning! back up location at DRC.doc
  16. sorry just had to post to bump up the post - was hoping to get some confirmation that all the items will actually show the day of
