  1. Oh I havent negotiated the price yet, we are not sure if we want to use the ipod anyway or go the DJ route things that were negotiated were at Secrets Maroma, things like cocktail hour, chiavary chairs, speaker /microphone for reception, mariatchi trio etc. basically as part of our cocktail hour package these items are now included... I found that it was tougher to negotiate price and easier to just get things that you would want anyway included

As for the Plan B location if it rains...has Ana told any of you where or what it is? Its actually quite nice, there are pictures of a wedding not the last pictures posted today but the ones of a wedding just prior (so just a couple of pages back, its the one with yellow ribbon on the chairs) that is the rain back up location

DRC uses 2 dj’s Dorremix and Mannia According to Ana (and I believe the wedding prices on the website) DJ services are 300 USD + taxes per hour minimum of 3 hours Dorremix prices however, they let it out of the bag to other DRC brides which Ana now does not allow, is that their prices are actually USD 650 for 4 hours So USD 650 vs. USD 1200 for the same 4 hours!!! I was soo soooo mad when I found out, like the hotel tells us we have to chose between two DJs and then what in the world are they charging us an extra USD 550 for Sorry it feels like I am just going on rants here, don’t get me started
  4. rds I would imagine you can, a number of ladies on here are bringing in outside photographers and were able to get video for that, so I would imagine if you already have video with that vendor you would be able to extend it in lue of pictures honestly Ana has been coming up with some outrageous fees, the fact that the DJ is over twice what they actually cost to be is just dumb founding, that being said we started our planning with the reception and after allot of frustrated hours and lack of sleep were actually to get over 1/3 off the original 'posted' price and get a whole bunch of other stuff included in the price that originally were note... my point being I think that this stuff is up for negotiation.
  5. ha ha I totally feel the same way Ashly, I keep telling people we are getting married in Mexico and they are oh yeah must be cheap and easy, and I want to be like well its actually more per person than it would be to do it at home, and I am spending countless hours because we dont actually have the luxury of meeting these vendors and actually knowing who it is that we are sending thousands of dollars to! When ever people try to tell me its cheap by now I am like well, we have to pay USD 15 per person per hour for the cocktail hour, or just to extend alchohol at the reception, and they are like oh really its not all free? sigh At the end of the day though I am sure all of our days will be beautiful and exactly how we want them, its just quite a battle to get there!
  6. Thanks so much ebernard - those pictures are actually great we have already moved our ceremony off of DRC, reception is at DRC but I have to say this is a much better area, seems allot more to the side, only thoughts I guess is that its not on the sand, which might make footwear easier but more of a likelyhood that unwelcome guests will work infront and be in pictures
  7. Hi DJMannia is there still a promotion for 30% off? what about the ladies whos nuptiuals arent until November 2010 does the 30% apply?
  8. Thanks Ashly! I think I have seen the pictures before as well but it is great to also have the review here, thanks for looking out for the forum girls!

  13. ha ha lala we were typing at the same time, off to check out the link, Thanks!!
  14. which resort are you getting the recommendation from? Gabi has been great for some stuff, but for some she is becoming quite blah which doesnt work for a control freak such as myself Gabi will be doing white chiavary chairs for me, and I am considering a couple loung peices from her, cause I can see pictures. But we started discussing cocktail table linen and adding linen to the wedding gazeebo and she is way way off the mark. I have pictures at home of what I sent her and what she sent me back as 'options' from her stock. Needless to say no linen from her. I will say though Gabi has been great at being super quick in responding. Which other vendors are you contacting? I am having a hell of a time even finding out who else is out there... I have contacted Mishka who does the marachas as they now do full wedding design, she has such a great eye for detail! but not sure how expensive she is and whether whe would even be interested in something like this. Otherwise I am just looking at buying a whole bunch of stuff here and hauling it there, although I am really really not crazy about that idea!
