  1. Ana had quoted me USD 1,000 for 40 minutes, 6 dancers if I recall correctly. Or for 20 min. USD 800 and I think 5 dancers... atleast she kept referring to 5 elements, which I gather is dancers. Unfortunately I have repeatedly asked for pictures or video or atleast name of who it would be and none have been provided. I thought that 40 min. would be too long and that our guests would actually get tired of it, but USD 800 for 20 min. to be seems allot! I told her that I would book USD 600 for 20 min but so far that is a no go. Let me know how it goes.
  3. We have 'booked' DJ Doremixx thru Ana - ie. we have an email confirming in, but even after 5 months of planning no contract, something I rather not think about. I believe any of the DJs will tell you to go thru Ana, the two that DRC uses I think are Mannia and Doremixx - doesnt hurt to try though.

Hmm all the ladies that I have spoken too, have purchased theirs ahead of time - that being said maybe there is a set that the hotel has for you purchase, I would double check with Ana (easier said than done). I am not sure that they would have them though, and also if they do, one of the advantages of buying them ahead of time or online is that you can get your names and date, etc. inscribed on it if you like that. Actually come to think of it - I have seen sand ceremonies with funky multi coloured glass vases before and it looked really pretty, that sort of think you may be able to pick up at DRC or even in Playa.

  6. Yeah for us its about half travelling from Calgary, about a third from Winnipeg, and then the random stragglers from Minniapolis, New York, etc. Yeah see I was super looking forward to our TA just keeping everything organized, the problem being expedia is way cheaper. For us cause we are 5 nights at one resort and 9 or 10 at another we actually booked thru a TA – who went thru expedia but somehow was cheaper than expedia.ca even with a CAD 100 booking fee per person. I guess what I am getting at is that the group rate not thru expedia is a couple hundred bucks more, so all of the guests are like great we are in, but we will be booking ourselves, and I mean I cant blame them, but that way I also dont have that whole incentive to book by_____ so that we can all travel together...sorry for the runt, but this probably causes me the most amount of stress right now.
  7. For us I believe sunset time was 5:15 or 5:20 somewhere around there. There was another wedding booked same day at 4 pm (reception is at Secrets Maroma) so we had to choose 2 pm, otherwise I may have wanted 3 pm, but probably not later. Ceremonies (no legal) I believe tend to run around 20-30 minutes. Also assuming that things will run a little behind schedule - I would factor in another 30 min. of bright light as a buffer. Happy planning!

  9. hmmm we sent out an email STD - I 'borrowed' a template from one of the gals here. The problem is not one person has booked yet I dont think, and our guest responce so far has been: great, we got the time off work, so just let us know...and the future hubbie and I are both like, um, we thought we did - but no one is booking. How do I get them to book? ha ha, sorry for sounding frantic. Thanks!

What really impressed me, is within 24 hours I got confirmation that they were shipped out and he sent me all the songs in mp3 format, plus a couple more that didnt quite make it to either cd - which will be handy in putting it on ipod for prior to ceremony and now I am also thinking of just letting this play in the back ground during dinner. We got a DJ for 4 hours just not sure when he should start.
  11. At Secrets Maroma by a third party vendor I was quoted USD 250 for 1 colour linen over top, and 2 white linens over top the wedding gazeebo - attached are my inspiration pictures Inspiration pics of colourful linen for forum.doc

  14. Ladies, first off beautiful dresses! I am still in the shopping phase, but def. like the mermaid style - did you find that you could get them still stight, but be able to dance the night away? I am afraid that I love what they do to my body, but once I get my true size (most sample sizes are quite tight, so that I can zip it up but cant sit in them) that its going to be so loose that it will loose the shape?
  15. On a completely separate note, I was reading Mishka's blog, who is fabulous by the way and she mentioned two weddings that happened back to back at DRC Mishka Designs' Blog: A Tale of Two Maracas.... Happy planning!

  17. Do any of you ladies know the email for the sales manager at DRC? At the beginning Ana was actually ok, responding say once a week, but she kept missing allot of my questions so I put together a master of all my questions, and sat back. Well its been 3 weeks and no responce! I need to escalate it up to someone, thought sales manager would be the next step? I tried googling it but cant find it, I may call the resort later I guess if I cant find it.
