  1. First off, Kayley that sounds like such a great time! what a fantastic memory to have and yet not take anything away from the big day!! On a side note, we were planning on getting legally married here as well 1. can you recommend any justic of the peace or commisioner (sorry not sure on the term right now) who perform these? 2. do we have to say vows? I was hoping to do as little of the 'wedding' stuff, like not put rings on either, etc. Kayley was this just a personal choice?
  2. wow all you ladies are so creative! we just finalized our invitations today so I ordered address labels, blank ones so we could print our guests names ourselves on there - to be honest I am a bit weary as some of the feedback here has been quite negative about the company charging money etc. hope all goes well - thanks for all the inspiration
  3. great to hear, working with Ana right now to get linen and lounge furniture all decided on plus wedding gazeebo decoration etc. I dont know that Dreams Riviera Cancun will let me go thru them for fire dancers, but out of curiosity how much was it for fire dancers and what did you get for it? DRC quoted me something crazy like USD 800 for 20 min. cant remember if it was 5 or 6 dancers. Seems nuts to me - am I wrong?
  4. vent coming on: we sent our STD about 5 months or so ago, most people were on board so we figure 50 our of the 100 invited will be there. Now frick its 6 months to go and only 11 people, only immediate family has booked. Originally the FH said no way in the world are we doing Mexico - he loved the idea of a destination wedding though. I was leaning towards just us and immediate family and a Hawaiin waterfall. Now to accomodate everyone we are doing a family friendly resort for 2 weeks in Mexico and people still arent booking - what can I do to get them to book? sorry I am just really regretting my decision, wished we had said f off to everyone and just went to Hawaii and spent half of what we are spending for a wedding that isnt what either one of us wants!

As I am sure it will for so many of us on here. See my date is the same (about as yours) and so far I am sitting at 11, and thats only emmediate family + us. Honestly, I am glad that I saw this thread, but FH said no freaking way we are doing Mexico, I was leaning towards just the two of us, or emmediate family and a Hawaiin waterfall. But no, friends were like we will be there 100% lets find something CAD 1,500 ball park. Then oh yeah we want kids, then oh yeah lets have this.... needless to say about 1-2 months of allot of sleepless nights and some tears we settled on a resort. We invited about 100, and expect atleast half to come based on them saying that they would. We then were going to help everyone and book a family friendly resort and pay for a guest pass for a day, all USD 100 per for 50 people! so that we could have our wedding at the location we wanted and the resort that met their needs. Now that is just 11 people who would have went anywhere, I am really really regretting our decision to have in Mexico. Unfortinuetly we already paid some CAD 6K for our two weeks in Mexico, and 11 others are all paid up. Photographer has a very substantial deposit etc. honestly though if less than 40 show up I am going to loose my mind! Thanks for having a place to vent I just honestly dont know what to do anymore!
  6. hmmm keithsberg on a patio could sure hit the spot I found that choosing the resort is the most stressful thing (that and the fact that people are slow to book in my case). In all seriousness take a deep breath and once the resort is picked it does get allot easier, lots to do, but easier. We are splitting our time between Dreams Riviera Cancun (newest Dreams property) and Secrets Maroma (beach voted one of the best in the world). These are the reasons why we chose it, guess just figure out whats most important to you. I have surfed thru Dreams Cancun, Dreams Riviera Cancun, and Dreams Tulum I think these properties, and may other not related resorts are all gorgeous. We all put countless hours in the end funny enough though I am sure you cant really go wrong. Happy planning!

  8. Awww those pictures of you KRama are just fun, with the grass skirt and snow - only in Calgary! You girls mentioned Romantic Planet, one of my good acquaintances Deanna just started working there (she transferred from working at another travel agency) I have now asked her for a quote for our guests travelling from Calgary and Winnipeg will let you know how she compares. We finally have our invitation mock up done, and if I may so say its gorgeous! We went to Amanda at Glymtz, she is a bit more on the pricier side, but really took the time and the invitations are exactly what we wanted.
  9. It sounds like most of the ladies on here are leaning against the programs, I was too and then came across the attached, figured is 30 min. out of my time, but without a template to work with I think I would have passed as well Cheers, fan wedding programs - copy for forum.doc
