But in the week that we were there we only saw them on the beach the one time. We also saw the army on our way to Playa. Yikes well that is scary, I never heard of this till now, maybe its just me but it makes me more nurveous to see that, I would have felt more secure had there not been guns around, like that is so strange!!
  2. Yeah I never thought to call and offer a pick up in person, would love to know how it goes for you, I am going to order regardless, I think it could be a fun touch. Next Thursday I am in New York, Westjet had a seat sale you ladies have a blast though, and I will def. try to make sure to join you next time.

  4. I am totally in for cocktails, coffee, or whatever, would be fun to talk weddings On a side note, I decided to start a bit of a starfish theme for our wedding, its a glam affair / starfish / Mexican fiesta - yikes, hope it all somehow comes together. Anyhow after much searching I finally found a site that has the starfish jewel that I want for my bouquet, its CAD 10 flat shipping for their site, the starfish is CAD 14, why dont I live in US? ha ha Funny enough the place is in Calgary, and that got me thinking, do any of you girls plan to order from http://www.dreammakerwed.com/bouquet_jewels.html I honestly almost thought of a getting a number of starfish just to make myself feel better about the shipping, its just so dumb

Im scheduling a trial for the day before so I could have professional make-up and hair done for my welcome party. If it doesnt work out, then I will be out $150 and will just use the resorts salon for hair and make up. Yikes, thats allot of stress a day before, hmmm food for thought.

I am not sure what the process is to book a hair/make-up appointment at the spa but I am sure that those are allot easier to book right there or closer to.
  7. I just booked a trial with Fernando. I am kinda nurveous though, maybe ladies who have already used him can comment - I would really appreciate that for my sanity, as my hair that day is very imporant. Hi, for those ladies who have gotten married already, I just sent a deposit, only to find after the fact that when Fernando said that he has no other weddings that day that I misunderstood and infact, he has already booked another one some time ago. Now my ceremony is at 2 pm, the other lady is on this forum and her ceremony is at 3:30. Mine is at Secrets Maroma and hers is at The Royal, PDC. We are both freaking out, I called him and he had indicated that this Saturday he has 3 and that this is typical. I just don’t know what to do, I thought I would splurge as hair is super important to me and now I am worried its going to be a rush job for multiple of what I would have paid else where. Yikes this is just too stressful. Thanks for all your input.

I ended up getting both, for me personally once I went dress shopping I felt allot more 'bridal' with the veil, but thats me. Good luck.

Agreed, it is stressful to wait till the last minute to see what kind of work they do in person but I am trying to remain optimistic. Good luck! hmmm, this is quite confusing. Have you sent him payment? Do you have a contract from Fernando? What time is your wedding that day? I have an email from him saying he is available my date, that is stressing me out.
  12. I dont have any for sale, but PM me if you find some stuff, I am getting married at DRC a week after you, might be an easy way for you to resale whatever you will have left. I will be at DRC on November 13th. Cheers. My colours are coral/tourquise/tan, so we got the coral in common and I think white looks always good too, did Ana say that there is a way to string lanterns, I didnt think that there was, I am doing the reception on the deck, you?
  13. I think I am just going to rent the material thru the resort, that being said trying to find coral colour has been crazy hard, with blue or tourquise you should have a much easier time - Happy planning!

Hey we have the same date, have you already hired Fernando or are you just thinking of using him? I am also debating between him and Ilka, do you know who his hair person is, for me hair is more important and it seems what he is known for it make up. Yikes, what a stressor.

So Boo since you have your reception at the DRC do you have to purchase two wedding packages ? Who is your wedding coordinator at the Maroma? Thanks Secrets Maroma - its Cecilia, we looked at the option of doing it at the Maroma marina, we are doing it on a resort instead. Yes day passes / package had to be purchased, hence not a cheap option. We are doing 2 pm ceremony at Secrets Maroma. 2:30-4 pm cocktail hour at Secrets Maroma. Then dinner and dancing back at DRC at 6 pm. We are renting a bus for a half day to accomodate travel of our guests and its only about 10-15 min. away provided there isnt crazy traffic. There are a number of vendors who will provide tables / linens, and there are a bunch of fun venues if you want to go the marina route, or there are private houses that can be rented. Cheers.

We are having our ceremony because of this at Secrets Maroma and reception back at Dreams Riviera Cancun, note though this is a very expensive option. The Marina looks great!
  17. Yeah we are getting firedancers as well - its was USD 800 for 20 min. or USD 1,000 for 40. We went with 20 min. I think at 40 minutes guests will just get bored, and its 5 dancers if I remember correctly. I think its going to be a fun touch to the night.
  18. Wow your pictures look just stunning, read a bit of your review, sounds like it was somewhat of a fiasco with the arrival of the photographer but everything looks like it turned out great, congrads again!

I cant log onto his site, and I think I have the pictures on my comp. at home... but I am sure if you check out http://doremixx.com/ he has pictures of what cold fireworks look like, but think very large sparklers coming from the ground and about 4 - 5 feet high. You get two of them. Happy planning!
  21. We are using Ivan from Doremixx he has been very responsive - sorry to mix the pot but with the DJ you also get extra lighting (we are doing it on the deck and wanted extra lighting anyway) you get 2 things of cold fireworks (great pictures of first dance, etc) plus props, cordless michrophone (I wanted this for speeches during dinner, etc.) plus props like glow sticks, massive baloons, etc. (this stuff is easy enough to pick up cheap at a Michaels etc, but again one less thing to worry about) Happy planning!
