  1. We're at Moon Palace for Saturday, June 11, 2011. I booked us for 6pm but I'm having second thoughts now. I hope that it won't be too close to sunset and limit our photo time.
  2. There is a recent post of a review from a bride whose wedding was March 2010. She got married on the beach. 'Sorry that I can't remember her name...PM her, she's probably a great resource. 3. Alison, there has been LOTS of discussion about the Catholic ceremony on the Moon Palace 2010 Brides' thread.
  4. I'm going with the gazebo. You get the best of both worlds: outdoor scenery, indoor comfort and peace of mind.
  5. Ladies, please consider cutting and pasting your WC questions on the thread that I started for MP WC Questions. The info could go a long way in decreasing stress levels!
  6. Here's a useful website: Airfare Deals - Cheap Flights - Airfarewatchdog You can sign up to receive e-mail alerts of airfares to a city, from a city, or city-to-city. It will allow you to also pick how frequently you'd like the notifications. If you decide to surf/shop for your own rates, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are the best days for low prices. One more tip: occasionally if you find a great price on a site like Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. you can get an even better rate on the exact same flight if you go directly to the website of the airline carrier. They don't have to pay a commission and they pass the savings on to you. (My FI works for Continental, so I've got this info on good authority.)
  7. Calling all June 2011 Brides... I'm getting married at the Moon Palace June 11, 2011. I just wanted to bond with the other brides who are sharing the same timeline and landscape as me. The Cabo June 2011 brides have already got a forum going and they're off to a strong start! (I've already found 3 date twins on there.) We're down to less than 14 months now - let's start sharing and swapping! Jean
  8. Knbell and brittanyb, I'm a date twin too! Brittany, we're also neighbors! Maybe we'll run into each other at a local bridal show. Congrats, Girls!
  9. This is just an effort to collect as many question in one place. Brides can pick and choose the ones that are applicable to them and email their set of questions to the WC at once. C'mon, MP Brides Past and Present, help us out!
  10. What a great idea! My colors are tiffany blue and coral (pinkish, not orange-y). I would love to participate. I'm planning to get chair sashes and table runners. I would love to receive any recycled items, and would be willing to recycle any items that I purchase.
  11. Yaaaayyyyyyy!!!!! I made the list! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
  12. Thanks for the great review. I get excited all over again when I read great stuff about weddings at MP. I can't wait for my date next summer!
  13. You OOT bags are so popular that your thread keeps getting bumped. Fantastic job, everything looked amazing. Thanks for sharing all of the details! I will PM you about the sticker for the First Aid kit.
  14. Wow! You're a pastry chef! Based on the cakes that I've seen from other bride's photos, it doesn't appear that any of the Palace resorts employ a pastry chef, which leads me to believe that whoever does the cakes just sticks to the basics. I did hear that the cakes actually tasted good, but of course, "good" is a relative term. You may want to post your question on the threads of previous and recent Palace brides too. I frequent the Moon Palace 2010 Brides (lots of recent brides) thread and Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 thread. Believe it or not, this thread is still active and getting posts. I hope that others see this post too, because I'm very interested. Good Luck!
  15. Matt, I booked my wedding for 6pm thinking that it would be a cooler time of day, but now I'm worried that it will be too close to sunset for good pro pictures after a 30-35 minute ceremony. What is your professional opinion? Bring water! Rain...they say it rains a lot in the summer months, June, July August Sept... BUT, I've seen it rain a TON in December, and other years NONE.... Its very unpredictable. I do know that this is an El Nino year and that forecasters are predicting strong rain in some rainy countries in Central America and South America... will that mean the RM Who knows. I'd say don't worry about the rain because you will go MAD planning around it. Honestly, any month you could pick here may have rain. This bride got married June 27 2009... It rained, wedding moved inside. Bonus, she got a rainbow Married at Excellence Riviera Cancun. The key is, the rain is usually quick and if there are thunder clouds or at least SOME clouds, then the after rain light from the setting sun is AMAZING and often, yielding rainbows. Rainbow appears after frame 111 or so... Here is a Dreams Tulum JUNE 2009 wedding. Check out the amazing sunset (LOTS OF CLOUDS in the sky) the colors wouldnt be possible without that clouds and the slight chance that clouds make rain Here is another Dreams Tulum June 2009 wedding, virtually cloudless sky. Here is a Paradisus Riviera June 2009 Wedding, no rain. Some residual clouds in the sky, makes for nice sunset beach shots! Here is a June 2009 Barcelo Maya wedding, no rain and some clouds...nice sunset shots! Here is a June 2009 wedding with BIG SKY and lots of beautiful sunset moments, the clouds at the twilight hours were amazing! Here is another June 2009 Hotel Esencia wedding... nice sky and no rain. Looking back at June 2009, I think we shot 16 weddings. I recall it only raining at 1 of them. She got a rainbow Cheers and happy planning and hopefully, less stressing about an element you really can't control or predict! Mateo
  16. Amy, would you mind sharing the template that they sent? I'm really curious. I'm sort of a cake snob.
  17. I'm getting married at Moon Palace, so I assume that the cake choices are the same for all of the Palace resorts in Cancun. So far, I've seen MP brides post that they've had vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cake flavors, but no details about the filling. Being a novice cake decorator, I happen to know that you can purchase cake filling. It comes packaged in a large plastic baggie. Cake decorating supply stores carry it. If you want something a bit more exotic, you can request it from your local bakery. Just check the custom requirements to see if you can take it into the country. If they say yes, pack it well! If you can bring decor: ribbon, toppers, etc. for your cake, I don't see why they wouldn't accept the filling from you too!
  18. I just started a new thread for MP Brides old and new: please check it out and contribute if you can. Here is a copy of the first post. The link is at the bottom: This thread is to get all Moon Palace Brides - past, present, and future - to share the questions that you sent to your WC. The purpose is two-fold: To make a comprehensive list of questions that you have asked, you need ask, you wish you would have asked...you get the idea. There are so many creative minds on this forum, I'd hate to go away thinking, "I should have asked about that," when I'm at the resort and it's obviously too late. The other reason is so that those of us who are still in the planning stages can just put all of our applicable questions on one email to the WC, instead of having a lot of back-and-forth messenging. Maybe getting the questions list all up front will free up some time for them, and they can respond to us much quicker. (It seems that a lot of us have experienced some level of frustration with some WCs being slothful about responding.) I am asking everyone to copy and paste their questions. I'm not sure if including the answers is a good idea, since things seem to change regularly. Additionally, many past brides have stated that when it came time to finalize the bill, the email dialogue between them and their WC saved some time and expense. I am posting this link on threads for MP 2008-2011 brides. Thanks for contributing! Here is the thread link: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...estions-58154/
