  1. Welcome, you've definitely come to the right place! I would recommend that you read reviews posted on here by brides from both of those resorts. On the main page of the forum, click on Wedding Reviews, then in the search box type in the name of each resort that you want more info on. You will find invaluable insight on the resorts and see pics of weddings and learn about the different experiences. The reviews were instrumentral in confirming that I chose the right resort. Please join us on the June 2011 Brides thread. Happy Planning!
  2. Hello and Welcome! Your daughter is so fortunate that you are helping her through the entire process! I'd like to recommend that you look at Moon Palace in Cancun. We chose MP for a variety of reasons including the ones that you mentioned of being all-inclusive and family-friendly. It even has a Kids Club that has planned activities just for the little people. Additionally, they traditionally offer a special during the summer where there's no charge for kids during certain months. We have a blended family with a total of five kids, so this is very cost-efficient for us. The resort is spectacular with a few beautiful gazebos that aren't on the beach but have panoramic views of the beach. The also have outdoor and indoor options for receptions. There are multiple reviews on Moon Palace Cancun from BDW brides. Go to wedding reviews from the main page, then type Moon Palace in the search box to access them. Most have pictures with accolades, advice, and critiques of each experience. I hope that this helps. Happy Planning!!!

Example: does it take 5 vacation dollars to equal 1 USD My worry is they give you all this great money but then you get there and it is 3 times the price so you still pay out of pocket. Keep in mind that the $1500 in vacation bucks is per room, not per person AND it's only $750 per room if the stay is 3 or 4 nights. To qualify for the $1500, the room must be booked for at least 5 nights. The spa is the only activity that has a spending limit per room. I like the new promotion, especially because it includes golf. This promotion gives our guests lots more options. Variety is one of the reasons why we chose MP in the first place.
  5. A private house sounds amazing! Congratulations on your wedding and your longevity as a couple. Please join us on the June 2011 Brides thread. Happy Planning!

I'm sure that you will forget ALL about your nasty week with the help of the Cancun beaches and a few Margaritas! HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! And if you can remember, please try to get a gauge on what time the sun sets this time of the year. I booked my ceremony for 6pm, but I want to know if I need to move it up an hour to have enough sunlight for professional pics afterwards. Can you believe we're now actually counting down months?!?
  7. Ashnic2005 is on the Moon Palace 2010 thread. I believe that she is planning to have fire dancers. As a matter of fact, her wedding is this weekend (June 19th). There is some discussion about the firedancers including prices and vendors on that thread.

My question is, do you get credit for the rooms if your guests utilize a TA? With my TA, not only do you get credit for the rooms (free events with a certain number of rooms booked), but the agency also throws in some extra freebies as well. The agency's freebies are strictly for the bride & groom and are also dependent on the total amount of rooms booked - including the bride and groom's room. They include things like a Palace Resorts robe for the B&G, room upgrade to concierge level for the two of you, and a list of other things. It is my understanding that my guests' rooms will qualify for the free stuff (events included) only if my guests book through the same entity/source.
  9. There's definitely a thread on here named Hair Questions for Chocolate Brides - I'm definitely subscribed! I would suggest that you consult with a hairstylist from the south - say Louisiana, where I'm from. The heat and humidity there are pretty comparable. They are very accustomed to working with our texture of hair, especially for those conditions. I'm sure that a hair stylist from Baton Rouge or New Orleans (where the humidity is very high) would have tons of ideas and maybe even websites. As for make-up, there is a MAC counter in Riveria Maya. Call or email them to see if they have someone that specializes in your skintone and/or go to your local MAC counter. They will do a consultation for "free" if you buy a certain dollar amount of their products and teach you how to repeat the same look yourself. They even have a paper template that they will give you to take home with all of your products on it.
  10. WOW, Ashnic! You're already there - how exciting! I can't wait to hear all about your experience! Take tons of photos, some of us are living vicariously through you! 11. Gorgeous!!! I love your decorating style. I've never seen the brushed metal before...very impressive!
  12. You're off to a great start! I've got so many DIY projects in mind, I don't even know where to begin...
  13. Good thread - this will help me to know if our budget is realistic.
  14. The pocket is such a cool idea. You can never have too many pockets! Go, MOM!
  15. I love a good bargain - you hit a gold mine! I'd never heard of Christmas Tree Shops before your post. I will have to check them out.
  16. Thank you for such a detailed review! I too have had my doubts - to the point that I was ready to call the whole thing off. Your insight has put me at ease once again. I'm down to 364 days! Woooohooo!!!!
  17. My FI works for Continental, and he says that you usually are allowed two bags with no luggage fees for international flights. Check with your airline to see if they have this same guideline and to verify what their weight requirements are. Be VERY careful - the fees for exceeding the weight limits are outrageous! It is probably cheaper to just pay for an extra bag. We are buying large Rubbermaid storage containers for most things (like our RealTouch bouquets, OOT bag stuff,...) and dividing them among family members. That way, we can leave the containers behind and won't have to be bothered with lugging around empty suitcases coming back home. We may, however, keep one to bring back souvenirs.
  18. I will probably tell FI that I won a Glamour Shots photo shoot that I will say later I didn't like. My other option is to say that I'm doing a trial session of hair and make-up for the wedding.
