does anyone know what Moon Dance policy is if your guest prefers to stay at a less expensive resort and still attend the wedding? How flexible are they on pricing with this? Do they negotiate?

When I was looking into hiring her, I was more drawn to her styl eand photojournalism. She hadn't done a wedding at our resort but her style is breathtaking and I wasn't worried. I don't think its a photographer's job to profile resorts anyways.

we have flown with american and us airways so we aren't affected but this post i am sure is going to be useful for a lot of people.

we booked with her. a lot of couples on here are using her i think. she wasn't super cheap. you can probably find someone to shoot your wedding for free but everything i have seen of her photos is just breathtaking and worth it. we spoke with her and she is friendly and down to earth and knew the island. when we researched her, we learned that her work was in The Knot in the best of issue last year. if you go to her website i think if you click on the blog button you can get in touch with her.

If you go with one outside of the hotel make sure they come to you, so you don't have to travel between the salon and your hotel in the muggy weather.

There are things like Friends of Jamaica USA which if you donate to, you can do the tax write off as well. There is also Rockhouse Foundation. If you donate to UNICEF I believe you can also specify that the donation is made to Jamaica.

I think it is important to get a travel agent. They have affiliations with the resorts and get a lot of upgrades as opposed if you just book alone. It makes sense though to find a travel agent that specifically deals with destination weddings because there are a lot of travel agents that do stuff like seniors travel or corporate booking stuff, totally unrelated to wedding planning. They will know the ins and outs of dealing with the resorts and airport stuff.

I agree with the above poster. This was not an area my fiance or I wanted to gamble on. we got a lot of recommendations for destination wedding photographers, along with some great deals. We ended up choosing Heather Parker per the above recommendation since we did not want to go with the a resort photography company and end up being stuck with an Associate photographer. Heather's photography speaks for itself and she has experience with Jamaica. she noted to us that she was insured for international shoots and was a member of the professional photographers association. one of the nice things we liked was that she offered a slideshow of our wedding that is going to be set to music. her blog has really nice photojournalism pictures on it which my fiance felt really was important. i think for me having a US photographer was what it ultimately boiled down to. its nice that she is published a lot too.
