    hi

welcome to the forum. you'll find the information you need, just ask away!
  3. I am interested in learning as well for the future. I mean coming from the stance of the photographer I wouldn't mind 2 brides going in together to cover travel. My only concern is making sure I give both brides the attention they deserve. I am the type of photographer that spends 8 or more hours with a bride so the weddings would have to be on different days. Just curious how that all works out. Look forward to learning.
  4. Ya'll are awesome! Glad to see such talent on the forum. Brides here are lucky to have a line up of great photography vendors in one easy to find spot. WELCOME!
  5. I am new to the DW world and just curious what it looks like when brides 'split the cost' of a wedding photographer? Is the wedding on the same day and the photographer shoots both weddings? Do ya'll line up a wedding a day after, like one on a Friday and one on a Saturday? Do ya'll have it to different weekends, one on Saturday and then the other 7 days later? I have just seen it mentioned a couple of times and since I am a photographer who hasn't shot a DW yet I didn't know what that would look like for me.
  6. Like others have said, there is some great talent on this board and many brides have had experiences with them so you can always just ask around for feedback on certain photographers. I know there are photographers who can give good deals that want to get into DWs, so just poke around and you'll find a good match I am sure. Then just fight to make sure they can be there, haha. It does seem like a silly rule and don't know why they wouldn't just accept some fee to allow outside vendors?
  7. That is awesome Renee! I miss Denton very much. Although I do not miss the roads in Denton and how long it takes to get from one side to the other, haha. I still shoot weddings in Denton from my old friends their, I love getting to visit and shoot, especially on the Square. Probably my favorite place to shoot. Great to see Dallas representing on here! It is cool to know that I have the possibility to meet brides in the area who are wanting DW's. How fun is that?! Texas rules! Haha. J/k....well maybe a little serious...
  8. In the end it is all about managing your expectations and understanding that in terms of photography, in many cases, you do get what you paid for. If you do search the forums or wedding photography from past brides done by a professional, don't put that same expectation on an amateur photographer. It isn't possible for many to be able to do that same quality. If wedding photography isn't on the top of your priority list and you don't mind if it isn't 'as professional' than most, definitely your best savings will be for an amateur. If you do fall in love with some of the amazing photography found on the forum than I just suggest checking the vendor marketplace and researching those photographers and just contacting them and asking if they offer any discount for portfolio building. The worst they can say is 'no' and you may be surprised at some that may offer discounts if it is a location that have not shot at before. Happy searching!

I think you will enjoy this community and the information it has to provide. Happy planning.
  10. The great thing about this community are the resources it has available for brides. The vendor marketplace has some great photographers listed many of which have served brides on the forum so brides can give you first hand experience. If you check it out their are contests every once in awhile for weddings and some offer discounts like 'sammysgirl' mentioned in order to help build their portfolio. Go check it out!
  11. Renee, I lived in Denton for 6 1/2 years while I went to UNT for school! It is where I met my wife and we got married at Denton bible church (our church at the time). Denton is very near and dear to both of our hearts!
  12. Whatever you end up choosing is where God wanted yo to be. So it will be amazing! Happy planning.
  13. Welcome to the forum fellow Dallas member! I live in Dallas as well, technically outside of Dallas, but I market myself in Dallas. Represent! Haha.
