  1. Hi Again- Â I've been looking at decor for the church. I think we are doing a long aisle runner that FI's father's company is making for us. We are also doing A LOT of flower petals on the ground and flowers at the pews with candles. Â As for the chapel - there are these white drapes that can go accross the top (ceiling part) that makes the chapel look GORGEOUS and classy. We got quoted $450 for these though!! Does anyone have better pricing? Â
  2. How was your wedding?!!! Â How did you like Waves salon/trevor? Â Let us know - I hope everything was great and you had an amazing time. Â
  3. 3 more months from today FI and I will be tying the knot!! I just got chills writing that. OMG Can't wait!!! I am getting really nervous about the timing though so I'm going to write a little timeline for myself and amke sure I have enough time to get everything done.  Guys check out our engagement session. We just got a few pictures back last week! We live in CT but very close to NYC. I couldn't wait to do our shoot in NYC. If you can please comment on our photographers blog as we will get print credits with more comments  http://www.robertandkathleen.com/blog/index.cfm?postID=248
  4. Small world!! Â We looked into a lot of photographers in Mexico. We ended up going with one from home just because we wanted to have our engagement session in NYC. Have you looked at Sascha Gluck or Samuel Luna? There's also another one we reached out to named Alejandro Aguirre, Fine Art Studio (WE loved their work and prices!). Â Nora Bohanon also has great prices even though she's based out of Chicago. Check her out! Also check out Ron Soliman who does destination weddings. He's based in the US but works with you on budget. Â
  5. My dress doesn't come in until August 25th and it feels so far! I think you should be fine if you start getting alterations around the first two weeks in September... Â Where did you book your mariachi? And how much were you able to get them for? We're looking for a 10 element piece for an hour. Â Â Â
  6. SO excited!!! Our wonderful photographer just posted a blog of our engagement shoot. Here are some of the pics we took that day in NYC. We started the shoot at the seaport around sunset. It was raining before we got there but it cleared up on our way there! After the seaport we found a cuban style restaurant w/a palm tree which was perfect to set the tone for our Mexico wedding!! I'm so happy we chose our photographer we had a blast and felt so comfortable the whole time. Check out our blog!! Please leave us comments on the blog itself under "comments". If we get a certain amount it counts as credits towards our enarlgement of prints! Guys check out the blog and post your comments for our photographer:)! http://www.robertandkathleen.com/blog/index.cfm?postID=248 I can't wait to see how great the rest of the pics will turn out and also the pics from our Mexico wedding.
  7. You are always so helpful!!! Your wedding is going to be wonderful!!!
  8. Avi that is so exciting!!!!! Everything is going to go great:) Where in the resort are you having the wedding? Do you know if the resort has a chuppah there? We are thinking of possibly doing our civil ceremony there the day before our wedding.

I love seeing the dress:) Mine doesn't come in until end of August - feels so far away but this makes me happy to see that it looks so pretty =)
  11. Hi Girls - We are using DJ Mannia - we've seen great reviews and also our wedding coordinator recommended them. MrsS2B - who are you using for a cigar roller? Can you tell me how long they will be there and what prices are you seeing? FI really wants one and I think it's a great idea:)

THat's pretty close to what I'm looking for and I speak spanish!!
  13. We ended up paying by credit card too. We thought it was just easier than a wire transfer. I think each time you use a credit card in Mexico you get charged 3% or something.
  14. Hopefully you girls will get 2010 rates since you're starting ahead of time:)!
  15. Hi Girls - There are 2 other November 2010 brides threads out there:) You will find a lot of helpful info on those. One is specific to the Riviera Maya
  16. Question on this all. Are you guys paying for this all in cash? We are trying to pay the majority with our wedding savings. But we may have to use our credit card for some
  17. Hi Girls - Does anyone have any information on how to get your paperwork sent correctly.. Our priest is filling out our paperwork sending it to the Diocese of CT then they are sending it to Riviera Maya. Our wedding coordinator said we have to have him send it to Lady of Guadalupe Chapel in Playa del Carmen...DId you guys all do that?

We have a few people on our flight so this would work great for us. So it's $135TOTAL for a roundtrip van?

I am doing a hair trial here in October before I go because I want to try 4 different looks and than decide. That way we can nail it for the actual hair trial in Mexico. What's the weather been like the past 4 years you've gone? I heard 75-80 during the day and chillier at night. We went last year in August and it was HOTTT then went in December and we had to wear sweatshirts at night. We'd rather have it cooler at night since we're doing an outdoor reception and people will be dancing up a storm....but just curious

We originally wanted to do our wedding on 10/10/10 but we were told by everyone to switch to November because the chances of avoiding a hurricane is better in November. I think the weather is so unpredictable nowadays everywhere so it's tough to predict. I am in your same boat about hair. I want to wear my hair down in lose curls but I've been told to wear it up because it's going to be windy. I never wear my hair up though so it's going to be weird for me. I don't even know which ones would look best on me.
  21. Hey Girls! I was also thinking of doing pashminas for the girls and cigars for the guys. How will the guys know that's their wedding favor though? Did you guys put anything creative at the cigar roller's table?

I did most of it all by myself just because I'm such a perfectionist and found myself fixing the mistakes that my production line made... But that's me. You did awesome! Do you have the template you used? How did you make the little band around the envelope? I think they look gorgeous!
