  1. We had dinner for about 20 at the Steakhouse. We just dropped in though - no reservation. They pushed tables together. No big deal
  2. I just got married last week and have about 10 large finger starfish. They are about 6-8" in diameter and I would be happy to be rid of them! This size is great for a ring-bearer type use...and also just general decorations around the tables. PM me if you are interested!
  3. Totally going out on a limb here ladies....but are there any of you who have either fuschia or orange votive holders that you wouldn't mind leasing out before your weddings? I was totally let down by a company that I ordered some stuff from. They said that the item had shipped, but it actually wasn't even in stock. So here I am, 4 days from departure - and I have no votive holders! Just thought I would check, thanks!
  4. Thanks for all of the congrats everyone! It was really lovely! We used Maxean Brigley as our commissioner as she was fantastic! She was so sweet. She lives in Cochrane, but will come to Calgary with no travel costs. And her rate is the lowest I have come across ($150). We told her we wanted something very simple, no ring exchange. We really didn't want to do any vows, but she did some simple ones up for us, and they were beautiful - I am happy we did them. We celebrated with champagne and sushi with our witnesses....and here I am, a married woman! Linds - I am so glad to hear that you are happy with Connie! She is very sweet.
  5. i am missing my e-ring too! we leave for the wedding one week today - and i left it to the last minute to be re-plated! they are promising that it will be ready on friday. IT BETTER BE! ...and, today is my legal day! the commissioner will be at my house in 3 hours and we are so excited. we are trying not to feel too "weddingy", but the feeling sneaks up on you! not a single soul in our family knows about it. we are having some friends who couldn't make it to the wedding witness for us. but it is all very hush hush i doubt i will be able to make it on the 2nd, as it is the day after we get back - but have fun gals! -Almost Mrs. B
  6. The Wet bar is the larger of the two. For the most part they say that the Parrot is good up to 35-40 people, and the Wet Bar is good up to 60+. You can find all sorts of pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/Weddingbymajesticresorts
  7. Hi all! My wedding is two weeks today, and I leave in 12 days!! I am SO ridiculously excited, but also have heart palpitations every time I think about it! Most everything is taken care of, I just need to finalize my music playlist. Natalie, congrats on making your group! I used www.mywedding.com for my wedding website, and even did my RSVP through them. Connie is pretty quick when it comes to the dresses, but I would give her a couple of months, just to be safe. Honestly, the sooner the better. Good luck!
  8. I picked up my dress today from Connie and it is GREAT! You would never know that the dress didn't start with a corset back - Connie did a great job. I will be sure to post a picture when I can! Wow Ashely, $330 for almost the same as what I had done? I guess I got a really good deal! lsmith - despite my unusual material, it was matched PERFECTLY (same material even!) for the modesty panel and even the ribbon portion. I am sure she will match yours just fine.
  9. Hi! She will need extra material for the panel portion of the corset, and the ribbon, but she takes care of that. My dress is very unusual material, but she said she would manage for the panel. Granted, I haven't seen it yet!! Eeek! Good luck!
  10. Hey gals, Just chiming in on Connie! I took my dress to her a couple of weeks ago for alterations and can vouch that she is super fast and easy to work with. I had the whole zipper cut out and a corset back put in, taken in at the hips, shorten hem a little, and bustle - and she quoted me $200 for the whole shebang. I think that is pretty darn good! She can do minor dress alterations within a few days, so you have nothing to worry about! Pam
  11. Hey gals, I am looking for some bright orange and fuschia votive holders if you have any you can spare. I would ideally like 12 of each. Let me know if you have any you would be willing to sell! Thanks!
  12. I am not having my wedding there, but I am a TA and get lots of the details. They aren't taking on any new passengers right now...they are all being shuffled to different resorts in the Mayan. I can't imagine being scheduled for my wedding there and having to postpone/cancel/change everything. Nor can I imagine getting married there and losing my new husband to an explosion. What a tragedy. Quote: Originally Posted by proti007 Are any of our Calgary brides having their wedding atthe Grand Riviera Princess? What's the story there? Are they closing for renos, etc?
  13. Hmmm - I think it was just the standard paper, but I don't remember! It was definitely matte, and kind of looked like it could have been recycled, but I really don't remember upgrading. Sorry I can't be of more help!
  14. Our guys are all super casual. Khaki's and white linen shirts for the GM, and FI is in beige linen pants and an embroidered linen shirt....and bare feet all around. Something like this:
  15. they aren't cargos, but you can fins shorts here: http://www.islandimporter.com/home.php?cat=13 we purchased FIs linen shirt from here, and it is great quality.
  16. When I was looking into this as an option, I found a whole bunch just by Googling. My computer crashed and I lost all of the bookmarks I had - but try googling "Waterproof labels" Here's a starter: http://www.onlinelabels.com/material_crystal_clear_laser_labels.htm Happy searching!
  17. What some gals have done is just to get some mugs from a local store, and then purchase clear waterproof labels to put on them. You can print out whatever saying/logo/monogram you like, and then affix the labels yourself. This is also nice for your guests so that they can peel the label off when they get home and still use the mugs without the wedding stuff all over them! Good luck!
  18. From what I have heard, you should pre-book. I have also heard that they are great at the hair (as long as you bring a photo), but the makeup is quite heavy and cakey. I am going to go to a makeup counter (like MAC or something) and have them show me how to do it, so I can re-create it on wedding day, I am a little nervous about that, but I don't want to end up looking like a clown either.
  19. we will probably do it in the next few weeks for the groomsmen gifts. i will definitely report back! ..in other news, for those gals who got the Bikram Yoga special, FI and i started on Monday and we are loving it. the first two classes were horrific torture, but today was the third and now we are hooked. the people are all so nice there.
  20. glad to hear your dress came in, ashley! i am also changing my dress from zip back to corset back and i will be using Connie's Alteration. i got the reccomendation from this board actually. the details are probably 5-10 pages back. she quoted me only $100 over the phone!
  21. EXCELLENT! Thank you for this! I have been looking at LED tealights online and they are so expensive. Costco here I come!
  22. Hey gals, I came across something yesterday that I had NO IDEA existed! It is called BONGO, and its is a service that gives you an American mailing address for those companies that don't ship to Canada. They then will ship it to you. There are different costs depending on how many shipments you think you will need, but I think there was one option for a one month rental for $5 (plus shipping from there, of course). We think we are going to do this for the groomsmen gifts...I will let you know how it goes!
  23. I will have to see what I have at that time and what comes back in one peice! I won't price things out until I know the condition they will be in - so just keep an eye open during the first week of Feb (if you can wait that long).
  24. I will have orange and fuschia items after January 27th. I have paper lanterns in both colours (and various sizes) and fuschia satin chair sashes and table runners. I will probably also have orange and pink votive holders by that time too. I will definitely post my for sale items when I get home in Feburary.
