  1. Thanks for this thread, I agree too it's very helpful. I've gotten so many ideas. My wedding is exactly 1 month away today (30 days). We're also thinking of just doing the dollar store thing, some puzzle books and meds (like Tylenol and Dram) and maybe candy or snacks. I also like the idea of the travel mug. And the ugly fabric to distinguish your luggage from others.
  2. Yes. We were originally booked for Rose Hall Resort and Spa (I think its Hilton owned) anyways we saw the real pictures of the hotel online and Trip Advisor and were not impressed at all esp w/ the small strip of a beach. It just wasn't very aesthetically pleasing to us at all, not what I had envisioned for my wedding pictures. And the hefty price tag for the lower tiered ceremony package which barely covered anything beyond a very bare minimal further severed the deal. And we switched to ROR. I understand where you are coming from though because we also had to book a family friendly hotel. For the same reasons, we have a 5 month old daughter coming with us and I have a sister who is bringing her children as well. We almost booked Beaches but our TA said it wasn't in our price range and would be too steep for what we had set our budget for. But our TA told us if we were willing to pay the price it was the next best thing to Sandals for those who need a family friendly resort. I did like the daycare option though. I think everything will be fine after all its what you make it. Just make sure that you do some adult activities and take full advantage of those daycare facilities that they have.
  3. Congrats! And Welcome To BDW! I know exactly how you feel. My fiance and I have planned everything and are paying for everything on our own. And so we've just been doing everything little by little as we go along. We were also undecided on a location at first, then finally found one only to see actual pictures of the resort on Trip Advisor...cringe...and switch again. But we are very satisfied and pleased w/ our current location. I'm very grateful to have found this site even w/ my wedding 1 month away, I've found alot of ideas and useful information. ~Happy Planning To You
  4. Hi Ladies, My name is Jocelyn. I'm a newbie to this site but I am getting married December 10, 2009 at the Riu Ocho Rios. There was so much I didn't know before joining this site but now I'm so glad I did. Learning alot of useful info and getting alot of useful tips. I have been a combo of a slacker and just in the dark/ stuff I just didn't know. But here's what's been done and still has to be done. Unfortunately, alot still has to be done. I feel so behind after seeing what all other brides had done so far in advance. 1. Decided on wedding colors 2. Booked the Trip and the Wedding 3. Got Save The Dates from Our TA and Emailed Save the Dates 4. Made My Own Save The Dates b/c I wasn't satisfied w/ the TA's STD's though I emailed them anyways (Never mailed mine on account of the emailed STD's though mine were so much better but may send them out again since the first only went to a handful of people) 5. Applied for FI and my baby girl's passports (the dog ate FI's passport she's such a bad girl) 6. FI bought his linen suit 7. I finally bought a gown that I really like after fighting a losing my battle to gaining my dream gown 8. Finally decided on a second and final flower for my bouquet (I always wanted a white lily but have decided on a deep blue iris to go w/ it. Things Left To Do: Getting a dress for baby girl (she's a growing infant) Picking out a veil or deciding if I even want one Finding a hairstyle I like and that works for me Finding a pair of satin slippers w/ beads & embroidering, either that or a flat sandal I can walk in sand with Putting together my wedding bouquet, and two flower arrangements I want for my Chuppah Assembling my wedding centerpieces, favors, etc And if I can find the time OOT Bags
