  1. We are getting married at Beaches Negril, and they have 3 locations to get hitched, one on the beach, one in a gazebo overlooking the beach and one in a garden. You can pick any place for free (there is no competition for place, the competition is for the time of day) I have no idea about Rui, but given that Negril has the 7mi sretch of sand, I imagine that any resort there would have that option. Happy Planning!!
  2. Has anyone spoken for the champagne flutes yet? If not, I would like to purchase them. Do they by chance come in a box (keepsake style)? Please PM me if you would still like to sell them. PS Sorry about your sister's fiance but happy for her to not be marrying a jerk
  3. I actually tried to upload onto photobucket the other day (in frustration)and was unable... I am going to try again now and hope that we just had a putzy connection that day. I know that some of you guys are Riviera Maya,... I saw on the for sale blog, someone selling insulated mugs for cheap that had Riviera Maya (no date, says to have and to hold, to keep your drink cold) on them- the girls last post was on 11/23 and sais she still had them... they looked nice, 10 for 20$? (her name is Rach220) Also I dont know if yall are wearing veils but I read somewhere a day or 2 ago that its smart to bring small fishing weights to put on the veil to prevent it from blowing too much in case of wind... ya know sometimes the beach is windy... thought it was random and potentially helpful so passing it on. And TeNeil, I am sooo sorry abt your missing engagement ring! Mine needs down sizing and cant bring myself the drop it off to do it... your story doesnt help my case for getting it resized. I hope you will get it back soon!
  4. If you still had them, I would take the starfish (both kinds) and the table mats (I saw someone else already spoke up for them, if that doesnt work out, I am interested.) Hope your wedding was lovely, thanks for sharing!
  5. agreed frustrating, infuriating.. and it will all be beautiful (even without a flower- and I keep reminding myself of this)... you guys go 2 weeks before us, are you all set yet?
  6. They couldnt tell me when I booked my stuff (because the transtion), so I am doing all alacarte... our tables are free. That was my biggest concern.. 3k for flowers for the wedding was fine but another 500 per table adds up. (with Preston Bailey a 10 person table 500- with MS its an 8 person table, but thats all that I know) . I am sure it is going to be amazing!!
  7. I understand that the 30th is the last day for alacarte.. but I could be wrong
  8. FYI, I noticed in Home Depot this evening that there are sets of 6 flashlights with batteries included for 9 dollars. I am giving these to the guys (and doing pashimas for the girls)
  9. What a beautiful dress! Youre gorgeous! The chocolates look incredible as well We did the black friday shopping this this morning as well... got up at 430 to be there when the store opened at 5... Got a Sony cybershot 10mp for 79bucks and a 19" tv for $129 .. and a bunch of 4gig jump drives for 8 dollars a piece,.. not bad. Not too much damage- we both are living a little high on the hog, just moved in together and paying 1/2 what we are used to After reading about the boudoir shoot, I want one, how much does one of those run? Are you doing it as his grooms gift? Cracked a new bottle of merlot in everyone's honor- happy friday

Now to answer your question... I personally think 5:30pm is way too late. It all depends how dark you want your ceremony to be. My ceremony is at 4pm two weeks later and I am worried that that is too late. On my day, the 18th, the sun is scheduled to set at 5:50pm. Keep in mind that's full down, no more sun so it will start to get dark 20 min. earlier, with full blackness by 6:10pm. On your day it says the sun will set at 5:40pm... if your ceremony is ten minutes late... you'll be getting married in the dark. Girls, check out this site, it's super helpful: Wedding Planner - Wedding Planning Tools and Tips, Wedding Sunset Calculator what a great website1 Thanks for sharing!
  11. Pole dancing sounds fun and special... maybe you all could do a shot on the way in to take the edge off. I took a striptease class with a gf a few years ago and we would chug a beer first... liquid courage Thanksgiving started just as Svete said... pilgrims (from UK) and Indians (Natives).. eating together to celebrate the harvest ... now its a time of year when we get together with our families and eat gluttonous amounts of food- especially turkey. Im actually English by birth, we moved to the states when I was 5... our Thanksgiving dinner looks like Sunday roast (with a turkey)... we had roast spuds, parsnips, yorkie pud, brussel sprouts etc etc.. very t
  12. Susie- First, I would also do a search of "ipod" and "Riviera Maya/ Gran Bahia Principe Tulum" to see if anyone else at the same resort has any experience with this... then, I say fight for it... you are bringing them a lot of business... Ive read mixed reviews re ipod vs dj... some people loved their ipods, some people felt like they had to keep monitoring it, or that other guests took over the music. My parents and FI really want the cheesy DJ experience so so be it. Shellk, Cant seem to upload anything, thanks for the offer of help, theres a snafu in my wireless internet connection (annoying) Been trying and liking the Mabellyne Super Stay color lip color.. keep making the FI kiss me to test (heehee)... Happy Thanksgiving to all
  13. I love this thread! Thanks everyone for giving us the ins and outs!
  14. how are you getting pics to load? I dont think it accepts jpg format? Do you have table cards as well?
  15. Ok, cant tell if this worked or not? If so, they are pictures of the flower girl dresses... we have a gaggle of kids coming and e decided to still all of them (9!!) in white shirts and dresses (28bucks a pop from Hawaii).... so fun, theyre really cute... hope this worked! Ali
  16. Hi Ladies! Its funny (Susie) that you say that about feeling that you talk about your wedding all the time, I do too and so much that I am trying to stop... and reading your post reminded me thats its ok to do that on here... pfffhew! Thanksgiving is on Thursday (I know lots of yall are Canadians- do you have any similar holiday?) and so we are off work tomorrow through Monday- yeehaw! My plan is tomorrow to write a master list of every little detail that I can think of that needs to be completed... and then to do less each night. I love the planning- especially the part about helping the guests have a good time ... but I am neglecting my FI- I sit on the computer every night. (so I want to do a little better:) I am currently trying to figure out if we need placecards and what the benefit of table cards are... I cant remember the last wedding we went to. We are having a sit down dinner and 62 (I think)... I got from another girl off of here some place card holders that were cheap (like 4 for 1.50)- not really wanting to spend a ton of money on stuff that will only be used once. But now not sure about the table cards... are you guys having them? I love reading about ALL of your plans (this list generates a lot of posts!)... Japan sounds awesome, ...I cant believe so many people no-showed to a wedding, and Im sorry Ms. Moulton that people are backing out... the upside of that is it lowers your costs... and probably stress level. I am very excited to see our family and friends, but know I will be thinking about them as much as us during our weekend. VDBride, hang in there with the mother in law... Im sure its less a reflection of you than of her (mothers and their baby boys ya know)... Ok, now Im going to try and post pictures of the flower girls in their dresses

But, if you have separate tables, it's probably best to have the place cards when they enter which give them their name and also the table in which they're sitting. Traditionally, tables would have numbers. However, some couples are more creative and name their names after a place, a quote, etc. So the place card could say..."Sarah Smith, Table "Las Vegas". Just an example. Make sense? Thanks for the clarification... sounds like id better start thinking of a theme
  18. What a crock! So when you take a pay cut to work for your friend, does that mean your friend pays the mortgage? Sounds like sometimes things just work themselves out... Ill drink some wine for you too
  19. my FIs suit came today He looks handsome... everything is coming together, its going to be AWESOME!! Off to (the cold) DC this weekend for work and to see my MOH, BM flower girls etc (friends and family)... Hope everyone has a fun and relaxing weekend this weekend Ali
  20. We are tying the knot, Feb 6th, 2010 at Beaches Negril, Jamaica (its getting close now!)
  21. Forgive me for being a dum dum but what do you name the tables for? I was thinking that you just put a place card in front of each plate, but is there something else I should be doing? How does a guest know what table name they go to? I think there are lots of really cute ideas, just kind of not sure what I am supposed to be doing here.
