I'm getting really excited now, but I have a long time to wait! I talk with TA Jennifer next week to set our plans in place and then will get things rolling with save the dates for our guests. Does anyone have any cautions against the resort before I make the commitment? I have attended a wedding at Sandals Negril, and it was really fun. If you have already had your wedding there, or are farther in planning than me, have you had second thoughts and wish you did/were doing it elsewhere? If youve got money to spend on flowers the reception and extras then Id say go for it... 10k is a safe amount to budget for it (or if you are ok to go light on the organized festivities)... also it is advantageous to book at least 10 rooms for 4 nights to get the extras (rehearsal dinner, cake, linens etc etc)... The rooms per guest are more than 250pp per night all inclusive so I think MAYBE if I could do it again I would try for somewhere cheaper, although I have no doubt that it will be amazing and that peace of mind is really priceless. -
Yea!! Its on!! Ok here are the luggage tags (12.99 for 25 at office depot) the picture is a sunset from our resort- the other side has each guests name and phone and the canvas bags (there is something bright that you can see through the bag?) thats all Ive got for now Hope yall have good nights (and SLEEP!!)

My OOT bags are a little crazy... personalized but not that expensive- the guests all really have paid quite a bit to be there so I want to make sure they feel appreciated (and I am much more comfortable shifting the attention to someone else)... For the guys I got koozies (abt 2bucks a pop) and flashlights thought the guys might get a kick out of using them for moonlit walks (stumbles)... plus Home Depot had them on sale (xmas time) 6 for 9 bucks with batteries.... The bags themselves were a buck and canvas, and I ironed on Jamaican flags with a patois (Jamaican creole/french language?) expression of love- Iron on paper turned out to be cheap and easy. Seems like a lot of people spent $$ on bags Instead of putting bandaids in each bag, I am going to include a line in the welcome letter saying that if anyone needs a band aid, aloe, sun lotion etc, that the MOH and BM have emergency kits (I have asked them both to bring emergency kits) Might try again on the pics tonight Shellk we left the UK because of the damp cold... Feb for a trip to Mexico is about as close to perfect as you can get! MsMoulton- I am an hour east of Orlando in a little town called New Smyrna Beach... Do you come to Orlando often? PS FI is more interested today- all his fantasy football players played yesterday )

Hope everyone has had a good weekend Feeling kind of glum today, dont know maybe its the cold gray weather (I dont know how you guys manage the winters, I think I have seasonal affective disorder)...or that my FI is totally absorbed in football and has zero interest in the details of the wedding. I moved to the east coast, 2 weeks before I met him (2 years ago this week) and so have made zero good friends here (I have my mom and some nice coworkers but I also work alone a lot so its very acquaintancey )... ie no one within driving distance to share the little wedding details with. Today I found on this website a wedding coloring book (personalized and printed out for the kids), DIY beach bookmarks (cute and cheap), and created a Superbowl (we r getting married superbowl weekend) crossword puzzle- with this cool program... took me like 2 hours to make and was so pleased with my work and he has NO interest... not his fault but doesnt help my gloom. If anyone is interested in making their own, let me know and i can find the links. I think the guests will appreciate the thought. I am so happy for you Shells that you enjoyed your boudoir shoot Timberly, that was really sweet of you (I second or 3rd or 4th it) I looked for Erika myself- last post 11/24? Im sure she is just out there catching up on jet lag and enjoying Asia (lucky thing) Id love to hear how real touch flowers are. The only flowers I am taking with are freeze dried rose petals. I think we have purchased about a gizzillion of them to toss and for decoration on the tables (which will just have a glass bowl with sand, shells and a candle rather than flowers because I blew the flower budget on the real flower bouquets) My free bouquet is fushia orchids and the bridesmaids are peony pink, so my grandmother is having the bouquet in her room as a flower arrangement. I know she will be touched (my mom practically started crying when I asked her if it was a good idea) Our beer koozies arrived the other day. Got my FI to design them... they say- Alison and Austin got married and all I got was this damn koozie 2-6-2010... ha ha We also start dance lessons this week. We dont know what song for though- thats a whole nother story. What are you guys' first dance songs- do you know yet?

Hi Ms. Tiff OMG, it is getting close!! I am more and more excited every day... its coming soooo fast!! Im not sure if you know or not (or if this is in your plans), but if you book 10 rooms of people, you get a free private rehearsal dinner... its buffet style in a private location... we have requested a rehearsal too- we have a bridal party so thought we better do a run through (I think this is an exception and not the rule) did you know too that you can have your reception on the beach under tents I just learned that the other week. We are getting married in the gazebo at 4pm and then are doing the 3hr reception on the beach in the tents...at SUNSET!!! we also got an AMAZING singer/guitarist to play for the wedding.. my TA told me about him because she heard him last time he was in Jamaica. You have got to listen to him, he sings like an angel... his name is Shyam Moses (and he has a web page and works with Beaches)... Did you get the ok to bring your own flowers? I didnt think they had a problem with that. We are using the free centerpieces that come with booking 10 rooms.... and have purchased flowers for the gazebo which will come to the reception afterwards. I have had much better success with Amber by requesting a phone appointment each time we talk. So I have a new date to know that she will call me. That and most stuff is paid for now, so less to stress about. Good luck on picking your dress! Mine comes in Dec28th and I am looking forward to it- still working on the diet- I think I need to starve this month (and with Christmas so hard!) to feel slim... I do love the corset back that laces up so it is semi-adjustable!! Ali -

Its a shame, isnt? The bad vibe? They are supposed (and I think it will be true once we get there) to be the best at DWs... Our WC told me that each guest will get a card to their room letting them know where to be and when for the wedding and reception (a nice touch)... they have so many options and am told really make everything perfect. We are paying for all up front, and not going with a big chunk of change so hopefully there are no upcharges/major changes. For us, it is much cheaper than a wedding and reception in a metropolitan area. Just securing a reception venue (without a bit of food or drink) can be 20-30ks... We are using a lot of the budget to pay towards the guests trips. For a dinner of filet, shrimp and mahi mahi, with a private location on the beach at sunset - with a private bar, waiter service, tip and tax included, linens, centerpieces, wedding cake, pineapple baked alaska (mmm), and set up for the music is worth 60pp... We could easily spend that going out to dinner and drinks on a Friday night easy. -

my honey is in the bathtub and he's singing hee hee, its cute... we arent married yet... figured a 6mo engagement was pretty short. Looking forward to the financial benis tho. Our first registry gifts came from macys tonight. We registered but didnt publish it, thinking that we dont want anyone to have to buy a gift, but that a registry is helpful for those who want to. Big question is when do you open the gifts? My mom said wait til after the day but my aunt said open them as they come in, so as to make the thank you card writing easier? Any thoughts ladies? I hope to have january off too- so I can exercise my 10lbs off... what is the least amount of time it takes to lose 10lbs? Has anyone figured that out yet? lol

I think the pashima idea is great... I told my mom I got her one and she was all smiles (hope that is indicative of what other will feel)... I paid 3.75 each for them ... it was the cheapest I could find online without buying a gross. Re Cold Mexican appetizers- racking my brain on that one, so much so that I am looking in my Mexican food cookbook... salsa and guacamole(of course)... seven layer dip? olives?, mini tostadas (little fried corn tortillas with salad and meat in them), ceviche (mmmm thats what you should have lovely!)... I cant think of anything else... its the cold part thats the hang up... sorry!

I can't tell you how valuable it was to be able to reforward an email (with a time and date stamp) where they gave me misinformation. In retrospect, the email threads are comical, but I noticed that I would ask a direct question, and Sandals would respond with a non answer. Example, I asked if there would be an ipod dock provided and Sandals said "they reccommend I bring my own." Which doesn't really answer my question as to whether they have them there or not. When pushed, they admitted they did, but I Had to ask directly three times. They are well trained there to promise as little as possible in writing, probably to avoid nightmare brides like me! LOL, I have to respond to NYCbridetobe... regarding my Fis direct questions and my when I flaky answers, he always says, "just the facts maam" LOL... same with Sandals/Beaches -
We are staying at Beaches and our group is staying in the Honeymoon Deluxe Rooms (which are the least expensive). Our TA has said that the rooms at Beaches are 7/10 overall and some of the nicest she has seen in Jamaica. She also said the 2 dbl room is quite a bit bigger than the king. Hmm, what else do I know... there is a description of each room that can be found on the Beaches website.... and the doors have enough height under them for a note to be slipped (that was my Q to our TA before she visited. Hope that is somewhat helpful. Alison

UGH forgot about them! I was wondering about OOT bags for guests at other resorts... Have you figured out how you are going to get them their bags? We have 2 couples staying at other locations but I have no idea how to get them their things. Susie, bout fell off of my chair laughing about your SD getting caught in her lie while eating a yogurt... you are so stealth!

So Im going to pay $100 for chairs and a table.. when before MS the tables were free with the free and basic wedding package. Im annoyed with sandals and beaches and all their hidden costs and fees! Its annoying! Im bringing my own flowers. Our *free* beautiful beginnings tables are *free*- 8 of them, not just one, I pushed to get it all booked and paid for to alleviate this stress- maybe that comes with the 3hr dinner reception, I dont know. I encourage you to move up the chain in WCs if yours is not giving you adequate answers, and as per my attorney FI, get it all in writing. You really have the right to not have this be such a stressful procedure. Set your budget and ask them to help you work within it. Once I was invoiced and paid, the stress has gone down 100% (PS Super cute kitty!) -
I don't know if you are still looking at Beaches (I am subscribed to this thread for now, so am answering)... but their spots are private. And I dont think the WC will contact you until you book BUT- if you call the 1800 number, there is a wedding extension where you can talk to a WC in the department and they are all very friendly and helpful.

Wedding Over - Many Leftovers!

Hi Heidi! The the place card holders arrived the other day! They will be perfect and came quickly! Thanks!! -
Hello Ladies We go back to work tomorrow after 5 days or movie watching and visiting and wedding planning and shopping. What a lovely break! I dont know if any of you feel this way but when anyone asks me about Christmas presents for this year, I just think of the wedding and cant think of anything I would like except for everything to go well in February. I made door knob hangers off of marthastewart.com this weekend, for guests who "want" to be found. Pretty cute, inexpensive and hopefully will help people keep in touch. Tomorrow (the 30th) is our drop dead date for moolah and I am anxious to see if the whole party (63 people!) will make it (everything has to be 100% paid). We have already had 2 emails in the last 24hrs from friends asking for help. Oh well.. we kind of anticipated this happening with these particular 2 people so we were prepared. I am wearing a veil. I guess the wedding itself will be pretty traditional. When I tried the veil on it just looked so pretty.. and helped out my fine flat hair... Im sold for me. I am jealous of the NYC shoppers. I lived in LA for a long time and loved all of the deal spots out there. So fun shopping where lots of creativity lives (not that way here near Orlando, unless you are a cartoon mouse) Happy 4 u Susie that your man came home so you can sleep. As a teen I had a high PITA factor and dont know how my parents managed. Hoping my FI (who is infinitely understanding, a calm voice of reason always and genuinely hard to be mad at) will be able to manage the teens years of our children. Shellk- chug a beer girl! Liquid courage is the name of my game in that situation... Looking forward to hearing about it- thinking about doing it myself (although we will be poor as churchmice after this weddng!) Stressful week of work ahead- I wish everyone a good Monday
