What I would and wouldn't do again...
futuremrsgoodrich replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
What I would do again... 1. Have a destination wedding... hands down, best decision ever... everyone had a great time and said thanks for giving us a reason to go to Jamaica. 2. Go to Beaches... despite the headaches from their Miami coordinators (of which there are several) the staff there are wonderful. The rooms, grounds, service etc are all amazing, which made everything easier. They really know weddings. 3. Have a dinner reception. It was great to have the time to be together. 4. Suggest to my MOH that she throw a breakfast panty shower the day before the wedding... it was great in 2 ways, 1 I got to have breakfast with all of the ladies (with the mimosas flowing) and 2 I got all new undies which is a fun way to start married life... 5. Bring in a photographer- he's awesome, Jeremy Igo (shameless plug) out of Charlotte, very creative eye... 6. Pay for the video- watched it this morning, it is priceless 7. OOT bags... We got so many nice compliments and thank yous for the bags. I really wanted to make them special since the trip was not cheap and everyone really seemed to appreciate the effort. 8. Include blank CDs in the OOT bags, so friends can send us thier photos- which is awesome because seeing them on Facebook is cool but having them on my computer to print out is even better! 9. Get everything organized and paid for before going- I think it may have ended up cheaper if we had waited to arrange, but it would have been soooooooo stressful. We had a few meetings/obligations but otherwise had the time to enjoy with guests. 10. gosh my list could go on and on... it was such a perfect day... to those of you coming up on your weddings, congratulations and enjoy!! What I would not do again: 1. Spend a lot of time on the ice breaker (I made up an ice breaker for guests to get friendly)... by the time we had handed it out at the rehearsal dinner, guests had already been partying a few nights and knew each other well. 2. I would get there a day or 2 earlier and stay a day or 2 later... it went so fast! 3. I would have sat down and thought more about a shot list for the photog... maybe done hairdos earlier- the last hour or so flew by and we didnt get to do a lot of fun shots, there just wasnt time. That and having the wedding at 4 with sunset at 6, we squeezed in what we could. 4. We would have let the videoographer know that we wanted a little more time before entering the reception- again not enough time for photos.. For a girl who never dreamed of a wedding, it was a dream come true. So fun!! -

Bosi, I am so happy you had a great wedding.... since we got married at the same place, I think we shared some of the same fears. -
So funny you ladies are talking about it... last month it came a week early from stress and I started ON my wedding day... Ive saved my white nightie for the AHR which is 2 weeks after the wedding so who knows maybe it will bring us baby luck?!! You gals are in the home stretch, how exciting, DONT FORGET TO BREATHE AND ENJOY IT... (whats what everyone said to me and its true) .... try not to stress, it will be awesome ... cant wait to see your pictures!!

Reading back through messages.... Brook, I am sorry about your family drama... whatever drama our family had, kind of melted there, like I have never experienced a time in m life where everyone was all about us, only thinking of us, and it really turned out that way. No one complained to us about their rooms, my mom worked out the offsite guest stuff that wasnt all of the way resolved... Im sure your family will find a way to work themselves into your trip. Maybe just let them know that you appreciate them traveling and look forward to seeing them, and leave it at that? This trip will be one of the few times in life when it is all about YOU (two) and your love and life together... it will be so romantic and wonderful and it goes by soooooo fast!! Susie: Gran Bahia Tulum, Jan. 27-Feb. 11, (Married) Julie: Grand Cozumel Jan 31 - Feb 14 (Married) Alison: Beaches Negril, Feb 4-8 (Married) Erica: Catalonia Riv. Maya, Feb 7-14 (Married!!) Shelk: Rui Palaca, Riv. Maya, Feb 7-22 (wedding Feb 15) Timberly: Dreams, Los Cabos! Feb. 11- Feb. 16, (wedding Feb 14) Tesia: Occidental Grand Xcaret, Feb. 11-18 (wedding Feb. 16) Chris: Barcelo, Feb. 13-27, (wedding Feb. 18 ) Krista H: Feb. 14-Feb 28 (wedding Feb 18 ) TeNeil: GBP Tulum Feb 14-21 (wedding Feb 18 ) Breens: Barcelo Tropical, Feb 14 - Feb. 22 (wedding Feb 19) Rayanne: Gran Bahia Tulum, Feb 21 - Feb 28 (wedding Feb 25) Tricia: Moon Palace, Feb. 23-Mar. 4 (wedding Feb. 26) Brooke: Moon Palace, Feb. 24-Mar. 3 (wedding Feb 27) I have looked at the pics a gazillion times, it was sooooooooooooo amazing. It was a second honeymoon for so many close to us. Everyone is asking when is the next trip. It was hard for me to think about what the weather will be like but in the tropics it is just warm air. My matron of honor broke her toe and it was hardly a problem. My nephew broke out in blisters (god knows what from) and he was happy as a clam playing on the beach. We were all plied with rum and all went snorkeling and ate buffet food and listened to reggae and it was magic. My parents held hands and closed down the club every night. Weddings remind the married about their own special days and that was so wonderful to see people so happy. Ok off to bed, crazy work week... So excited for you ladies (and saying prayers for Timberly) x Mrs. Goodrich (OMG!!!!)

LADIES! Sorry it has taken me a bit to get back on, I am just now catching up (and honestly this website had not been letting me on very easily), it was AWESOME... Timberly, I know it is impossible to do but try not to worry, once you get there everyone will be SOOOO happy to be out of the crazy weather, it will just make it 10x better! Our resorts are used to weddings, so for them they just set up and take down... We had a fantastic time, it truly was a dream come true. All of our friends and families got along and said how wonderful each other was. It was so special and beautiful and all of the hard work paid off. I have a link to a photo album from our photographer.... Alison and Austin Also, Austin loved the photobook (boudoir).. Everything was so wonderful and I am so excited for you guys to go!!

Happy Wedding day SusieQ!!!

Congratulations Susie! -
Good morning ladies! Susie, sorry to hear about your brothers $$ theft Timberly, I am so sorry about your hairdresser issue. And so happy that your man was a sweetie and helped. Tricia- LOVE your dress- so pretty. Shelk... I saw your ticker says 15 days!!! Are you freaking? I know when i post this post I will see the ticker and I think it will day 6 days and my stomach is doing flips and its just the ticker!! Brooke- whatcha doing girl? Raykel- beautiful ring very unique Teniel- I cant see the pics? Chris- perty necklace - Why is it that if you put the word wedding onto something, suddenly you are overcharged and treated like s***? I dont understand. For this reason, everything for the AHR has had the words wedding and marriage removed (when requested), to reduce costs and get more prompt service- were just havin a party Do you guys feel alone in this sometimes? The FI and I had it out a few days ago because he has ZERO interest in this process, I have become the one always asking him to do thing and he's like, "where did the fun free spirited Ali go?".... and its because if he shows up to the wedding with no shoes or a suit too big he will be upset- he kept saying what a big pain in the ass everything is and I was like "sorry you arent excited for the wedding" and somewhere in there he got it, that telling me its a big pain in the ass doesnt help me know that he is excited to stay in a beachfront room that we would never pay for any other time, to see all of our friends and family and get married! Things are better now... back on track. Seems to me that this is a more special time for a woman than a man. All of my gfs, coworkers pretty much everyone in my life is really expressively excited for us (like people I dont know hugging me)... the FI on the other hand has not mentioned it to much of anyone and I doubt any guys are going "high five on having sex with the same woman for the rest of your life!" GOsh I am really rambling, too much coffee!!! Happy Sunday Ladies

Last dress alterations Monday, (hair) cut and color Wednesday. Booked a massage for Thursday AM but not sure if Ive time to get it done... Raykel, SOOOOOOOOOOO happy your dress made it. Shelk- a few morning cocktails in the airport and youll be right as rain! What airport do you leave from? Timberly, Id kill my bridal party if they were messing around this close to the day... these are my 2 favs... Id share all with you guys but dont really want to share with all of the site and all of the world... my email is [email protected] if you want to see the rest. I got them done when I went to California, I think they came out really well. They werent that expensive either, especially compared to what was available in Orlando... It was fun too, I was scared!

Hi ladies, I am computer incompetent when it comes to shutterfly... trying to share the BD photos... when are yall giving your books? I was thinking to give it to him the night before the wedding, but I want to title it "for my husband" and so that would kind of dictate that I give it to him after.... thoughts, suggestions? List with Shelk on it Susie: Gran Bahia Tulum, Jan. 27-Feb. 11, (wedding Feb. 2) Alison: Beaches Negril, Feb 4-8 (wedding Feb. 6) Erica: Catalonia Riv. Maya, Feb 7-14 (wedding Feb. 10) Shelk: Rui Palaca, Riv. Maya, Feb 7-22 (wedding Feb 15) Timberly: Dreams, Los Cabos! Hi Ladies... I am behind again but enjoyed reading up... You guys make me smile )... Susie, I am so happy your brother will make it... Hope your dress will be ok Raykel... I bet it will work out, I heard a story of a bride at our resort accidentally burning her dress with an iron on her wedding day! Can you believe it?! The coordinator managed to bustle it some way to hide the burn... everything seems to work out in the end, I am told anyway. the FIs whole family is not coming to the shower... they are having their own family day... which btw, they didnt invite the FI to. I am crossing fingers that they are planning to surprise him with breakfast in bed or something otherwise it is pretty s***y. I got my TTD dry cleaned.. pretty good for 20 bucks if I do say so myself. Got the BD photos in the mail today... they came out really well. I will post one or 2 in a few. My dress is being re-altered... lost those wanted pounds and now the dress is a bit big.. there are worse problems in the world... still a few things to do, music, vows, pay the photog. I added myself to the list, (I know some are missing/incomplete but my memory to put them down is not so good) Susie: Gran Bahia Tulum, Jan. 27-?? Alison: Beaches Negril, Feb 4-8 (wed date 6th) Timberly: (can't remember exactly), Feb. 11- Feb. 16 Tricia: Moon Palace, Feb. 23-Mar. 4 Brooke: Moon Palace, Feb. 24-? Chris: Barcelo, Feb. 13-27 You guys are awesome... not long now!!

HI Ladies, Im so far behind, like at least 10 pages! I am starting to not sleep- the past like week. I went to LA for the bachelorette party and it was fun but came home tired and sick. Brook your pictures look awesome! It got me looking at your website and story etc and its all so cute! Go you for taking the time to put it all online! Austin and I got engaged on August 6, so we got engaged 2 days apart! We have a bit o drama with the wedding and I am wondering what yall think... My MOH is throwing a panties shower (at breakfast time) on our first morning at the resort. All of the ladies are invited and she figured it would be a way to get together that wasnt super expensive and doesnt take up much case space... well anyway, the FI's mom, step mom, mom's friend, and sister are not coming (is it too strong to say boycotting?) to the shower because they dont feel comfortable buying me underwear.... is this normal? The idea came out of a big wedding planning book we have (and they call it a "perennial favorite") The FI feels really awkward because they are lying to me saying its because they have plans with the kids, and told him the truth, so stuck him right in the middle... Not sure what to do now, cant talk to anyone about it (mom would be upset, MOH may be upset, at a minimum anyone coming would have a less open mind about his family.) The saddest part is, that the FI is really hoping that his sis and I would be good friends, but this isnt really the way to start a good friendship- I mean is underwear really that racey? What do you guys think? I hope all are doing well... only 2 weeks left to go here, Susie, bet you are outta here soon!!

Hi Ladies!! So much to catch up on and our dog is still whining every time I sit down on the computer.... This weekend is mine and Austin's bach/bchette parties... Im going back to Cali ) and he is headed over to Tampa. Secretly hoping that he doesnt get taken to Mons Venus (crazy strip bar) but trust him so I guess its ok (his friends are good guys so I am not too worried) Also doing a boudoir photo shoot saturday morning, got my outfits all picked out. I am one very lucky girl! Also my dress doesnt fit! I have lost 7lbs and so they are going to take it in again in 2 weeks, the week before we go... great problem to have! I agree with all of you about feeling crazy stressed, I have huge knots in my back and headaches almost everyday. I took the day off today to and get a massage becasue I am miserable. Quite a few things left to do and the hours in the day seem to whiz by!! Svet.. good luck on the not smoking, you can do it girl! Like you I was a closet smoker for years (on and off but always and still addicted- once and addict, always an addict)... finally kicked it for good the weeks before I was hoping my FI would lay the first kiss on me... All I have to do is think about how friggin HARD it was to quit and how miserable and bitchy I was for a few weeks and I know I never want to go through that again... YOU CAN DO IT!!! Gosh, I havent been on all week and there are so many things to say to give support on... positive thoughts are being sent your way for FIs niece/cousin (??), sore gums (yikes), bad dreams, getting all of the clothing arranged (I think the necklace is pretty with the dress, also very pretty and the short white one is pretty too), getting FIs to get it in gear (mine is the same way), good shipping vibes to Mexico (we are taking the stuff ourselves), planning threads (looking forward to it) and congrats to all those who are making it legal... Alison outtie

hi ladies... Brook- yes, Im close to Orlando and would love to meet you guys in Mexico in July to "crash" Krista's wedding! Erica- your bouquets are so pretty! They turned out really well! VDB- beautiful centrepiece... re prego- we r hoping to make babies coming up here some time. We stopped bcds the week he proposed to be (in August) but I have avoided THE date, until this last month- we will officially start trying after the wedding. (cross fingers and toes for all of us) Something funny- FI is in the Army (reserves) and they issue him these Army glasses, that are really dorky (They are good for the dessert)... the guys call them BCDs "birth control devices" ha ha hope all are well
