  1. these all sound like great ideas... you get the whole first year to party, right?!!
  2. We didnt want to have an AHR either (we are low key and love our destination wedding idea) but! the parentals wanted one, so here we go... We included a separate announcement card in the envelope for the AHR and are sending a separate invite to people whom were not invited to the DW but are to the reception... I think I agree with the theme of the thread responses, 2 AHRs could get confusing, I think I would do separate invites. Best of luck with the planning!

For our AHR we are doing a photobooth. We hired this amazing company and they have tons of props and frames. Totally awesome. AND when they print they print 8 pictures. 4 each side by side.. 4 for the person/couple to take home and a set of 4 to go in our guestbook and then they sign it. So its the best of both worlds! Good luck! that's another great idea... about how much does that set you back? i just emailed for a quote local to us in FLA.
  4. Mrs. 2010, you have awesome posting ability (I have taken your advice on joining the welcoming committee)... I am in awe of you, You are my mentor ... the big day is coming up, are you all ready? alison
  5. Are you guys have a rehearsal dinner? What are you wearing??

I know for a Nov 2010 bride I am doing so much very earlier, but I hate waiting to do anything at the last minute. I think that it will be perfect that you are a November bride... we are running into a bit of difficulty since it is now winter, no summer suits are out in the stores!

I'd do a little research on what naturally grows there. I'm sure whatever you decide will be gorgeous! Congrats! I think thats a great idea!! I asked the resort about what flowers were local (indigenous) and they said pretty much orchids, daises and carnations? (? not what I thought for an answer?)... I love all of the flowers of the Carribean and have had the hardest time coming up with an idea for a tropical looking bouquet. Let me know if you think of any more ideas, Id love to hear (thanks for the tip!)
  8. Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the forum!!

    Hi

Hi Karen! Welcome to the forum! Congratulations and happy planning!! Alison
  11. Vday bride looking forward to your dress pics...Shellk, glad your fitting went well, Susie, wishing you 40,000 winks... Mrs Moulton- my ladies are all far away too- my bfs are throwing me a lingerie/panties party the first night (Thursday) in Jamaica so all can be in one place I put the OOT bags together today...I ironed on 40 patches of Jamaican flags with "Negril, Jamaica 2010" on them... freaked because a few of them you can lightly see an iron print (yes, Ive got skills)...and then decided to smile about it ... do you think the print would go away if I washed them? Still no news on anything about the wedding flowers etc... going to call the sup again on Monday, honestly, I am going to pitch a fit I think (in a nice professional way)... my TA is being very supportive, she suggested I ask for everything in writing Just got back from a chili cook off- which was very yummy but seems we keep having reasons to eat and the scales need to be going down not up! So are you guys having rehearsal dinners?? What are you wearing?? I am going to go browse the forum for answers... have a happy Saturday night!!

Congrats! And many kudos to you for working with disabled children. That's my field. I am a Speech Language Pathologist and I heart my kiddos! How funny you guys! I am an occupational therapist working with kids with special needs! Small world. I used to work for myself but since Ive moved back to the east coast, I have enjoyed the (relative) lack of responsibility you achieve working for someone else. Congrats Susie, on your job offer... I made iron on decals for the canvas OOT bags last night. They look awesome, Im so happy... once I get to 150 posts, I will put up a picture (still working diligently on that Happy Friday all!!
  15. Congratultions!! I love my Destination Weddings.com TA... she has been very helpful. Welcome to the forum and happy planning!
  16. Welcome to the forum! We knew that some people would find it too expensive (travel alone to Jamaica is 350-500$) and are instead having a party at home as well as our wedding in the Caribbean... works out great to be able to see everyone and accommodate all's needs. Best of luck making your dream day come true!

(tables that is lol) daaaaaaah can you not answer that for me? send me and email with just (6-8 S) if your that busy. damn!!!! it makes me cranky!!! seriously!! jeez Although Im sorry yall have problems with communication with your resorts, it makes me feel at ease to not be the only one
  18. Stinks doesnt it?!! I mean they already have our money so its not like we have a choice. Our TA has been wonderful and has helped me establish a plan of attack. I am not going to stop squeaking and am going to get everything in writing (since the small amt of info I am getting seems to change). I am sorry for your troubles.... I imagine both of our weddings will be beautiful and no problem. MsMoulton, gosh patience is a virtue, right?? Sounds like you handle it well.
  19. I like the candy buffet... gosh, I need to think of this myself... we are spending so much on the DW that there isnt a whole lot left for the AHR and we are scrambling a bit
  20. Hi LRB.. Congratulations and welcome to the forum... happy planning
