  1. Hi ekcMexico and congrats! So happy to hear your wedding at Playacar Palace was beautiful!! Thanks for the scoop on your event locations - we are using many of the same places when we get married in November. One question - what did you do for ceremony music? Did you use one of the instrumental soloists they offer in the package? Or did you have a DJ play the music for your ceremony? Â We'd love to see pics when you have them! Â
  2. Yay! SO happy to hear that you loved it! We were there in January & were blown away. We're getting married on Nov 13... so a week after you - I believe I'll be working with Dulce too! Did you do a food tasting for your dinner? Whatitems did ya like the best? Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. UGH. That's a total bummer about Gilberto - I really liked him when we met back in January on our site visit. THanks for passing this info along. I still have 3 months until our Wedding, so hopefully things will get better!
  4. Hi t_par_t! You can absolutely use any of the pics from my Picasa album - feel free to pick and chose what you like! Here's a link to our website as well - you are welcome to cut and paste info as you wish. I made this site using wedding window.com - it allowed us to do so much customization - loved it! www.weddingfiesta2010.com
  5. Hi AandD.... I'm just starting to think about Photographers..... We met with a guy names Sasha Gluck when we visited Playa in January and liked him alot. You can google him and I think he has ads on this forum. I'll let ya know when I finalize the photographer! Have you already booked your group rooms? How fun - we'll probably get to meet in person!
  6. Ginger.... have you considered any of the El Dorado Hotels - if you are doing a "just the two of you" ceremony, you may want to check out El Dorado Maroma - it;s a small boutique hotel with only 72 rooms - gorgeous..... Steph
  7. Hi Ginger, I'm getting married at the Playacar Palace in November (the Picasa Link above is actually mine!) The terrace is lovely and the hotel is perfect for what we wanted - only 208 rooms & within walking distance of 5th avenue. They do have a beach and I believe you can do a wedding on the sand - although, we opted for the semi-private pool deck area - next to the beach, with the ocean in the background. Please let me know if you have any questions!! We were there in January on a site visit..... Steph
  8. OK girls, here is a link to my picasa web album - hopefully this works! These photos were taken in early January of 2010 - just as the beach renovation project was starting.... so the beach photos don't reflect the NEW and IMPROVED beach! Picasa Web Albums - Stephanie - Playacar Palace
  9. Hi Kurlyks, I'm happy you liked the website - I really enjoyed working on wedding window - they let you do so much customization! And that's great that you are working with All About Honeymoons... I am actually a Travel Agent with them as well (so I know you are ingood hands).... and yes, I did the group booking!! If you thikn you will book at least 75 total room nights, that's the only way to go.... you'll have your room paid for, as well as unlimited free events! It really is one of the best deals around. I have some pics from our visit in January if you'd like me to send them to you!?

Hi there ~ regarding the deluxe category rooms; when we were there in January, we looked at one of the "Deluxe" rooms and there was no actual balcony.... instead, kind of a "sliding glass door" that you could open to a narrow ledge that had a railing. There was no actual place to "step onto" but you could at least have fresh air. Some of the deluxe rooms may have more of a balcony, but the one that we viewed didn't (although I can see how the hotel could get away with calling it a balcony.....since technically, it had a sliding door). It had a very nice ocean view though!
  11. Hi GracieLR, You may have more luck working with a TA if you'd like to book for 2011 now. The great thing about working with a TA is they are there with you every step of the way to help with questions, planning assistance, etc. If you book with an online service (Expedia, etc) you won't have the same personalized service a TA can offer.
  12. Hi Playacar Palace Brides! It's been a while since my last post... but should be here more often now - the wedding is only 6 months away - hurrah! We sent out our "Save the Date" info/invites this week - and our website is LIVE! The website was a lobaor of love - but hoping it will motivate friends and family to join us in November. Tanya Marie - thanks for the idea of the using "Mexico" as the opening song on the site - I borrowed that from yours! Here's a peek - please feel free to use any info you find helpful! http://www.WeddingFiesta2010.com
  13. Hi there & Welcome! I'm a Nov 2010 Playacar Palace Bride... and we also considered the Dreams RC. We chose PP because it's walking distance to 5th Avenue / Playa Del Carmen - the location cannot be beat.... we're thrilled with our choice. As well, the resort is only 208 rooms, so more intimate - which means we will have more time WITH our family and friends rather than spread out at several pools at a huge resort. Please let m eknow if you have any questions!
  14. We're going to be married at Playacar Palace in November of this year - and the reviews I have read don't make me nervous at all.... We went down in January for a site visit and looked at four hotels total - Playacar Palace was our favorite HANDS DOWN. I read one of the reviews on Trip Advisor about a guy saying the music was "cheesy" at PP and that he didn't like the food. He also said he ended up at the Fairmont Mayakoba.... and spent twice the amount of $$ on his room. I am familiar with both hotels.... Playacar Palace is all an inclusive, intimate resort on the edge of Playa del Carmen (walking distance to 5th avenue). The Fairmont Mayakoba is a sprawling resort (only 4 years old), NOT all Inclusive, and about 20 minutes from town. It's like comparing apples to oranges. The Playacar Palace has been nothing but WONDERFUL to work with in planning stages - and I can't wait to go back in November Please let me know if you girls have any other questions!
  15. Hi Raychel, Welcome! We were just in Playa earlier this month (Jan) and did site visits with the Royal/Gran Porto AND the Playacar Palace. We also saw the little chapel on 5th where I'm guessing you plan to have your ceremony - what a great idea! We chose the Playacar Palace because it's a bit more intimate than the Royal & we liked the contemporary vibe.... PLUS, the wedding promotion with unlimited free events with total guest rooms of 75+ is GREAT! It really is a huge saving! Have you been down there to visit? I took tons of pics, just haven't had the time to load them into a Picasa web album for sharing yet - stay tuned! I don't think it will be a problem to have your ceremony at the church & then reception at the hotel - I'm sure your contact will give you the scoop. Have to share a fun idea we heard about from a photographer we met in Playa.... He shot a ceremony at the same church where you will be married.... then he said the entire wedding party & guests walked down 5th avenue like a "wedding parade" ... led by a Mariachi Band (and everyone had Maracas).... I thikn they walked all the way to the Royal. We LOVE this idea & you could definately do a shorter "Wedding parade" back to the Playacar Palace! (unfortunately, I'm not Catholic... so this little church isn't an option for us Gsod Luck & let us know what you decide! Stephanie (& Steve)
