I'm sorry for both of you girls' problems. :-( Here is a very sad story about a girl who had endometriosis that my friend posted: So no one else will suffer Ewok, your dress is great and I'm sure it will look gorgeous once it's fitted to you!! I went to the store where I bought my wedding dress Saturday so that my MOH could try on dresses. The real reason we were going there was that she could see me in my dress. Well, turns out they must have sold the floor sample to another bride because they could not find it anywhere. :-( My MOH and my step-daughter will have to wait until my first fitting, which will be months from now...

Show us your wedding dress!

I went to the store I bought my wedding dress at today so that my MOH could try on dresses. At the same time I asked if I could retry my wedding dress, so I could show my friend (and take a picture of me in it). The sales person couldn't find it, they must have sold the floor sample. -
going baby crazy and not even pregnant or close to being

No clue for the decor, but the name will be Claudia Jeanne. Claudia because it is my great-grandma's name and when I was younger, my grandma would always tell me about how her mom had such a beautiful name, that it was a novel character's name, and that I would have loved her so much because she was just like me. So very young I decided to honor her by naming my first girl Claudia. Jeanne my FI chose it because he wanted to be able to call her CJ. And I can't spell Jeanne "Jean" because in French it's a very old sounding man's name. As for boys, not sure. Maybe Jason or Kameron. but FI's name is Ron, so not sure about KameRON... LOL -
Soooooo pretty Jen!!!

Not sure if I should put this in this thread or another. The Dominican Republic section is very popular, maybe it would benefit from some sub-sections like the Jamaica section?

Lately there's also been a bunch of bad reviews mentionning food poisoning for the Laguna Azul in Varadero. If it's all happening roughly around the same time in two totally different parts of the country, maybe there was a virus, like someone said, or a bad batch of a certain type of food?

ILA Brides, what do you have planned so far for your big day?
RonNMel replied to Barrierunner's topic in Cuba Weddings
I'm keeping things very casual and planning on doing a welcome cocktail hour in the lobby bar. Not sure yet if we'll do it before dinner, and all head out to the buffet after, or do it after dinner, and possibly finish the night at the disco. -

What I can tell you, though, is that as a second time bride, my first dress stayed in a closet the whole time I was married. Didn't even look at it once. Ended up giving it away to a charity a couple years ago. So for me, I absolutely don't care what state my dress will be in after my TTD as I know realistically, I'll never use it again. Might as well get all the use I can from it now!!! Was even thinking of leaving it in Cuba after my week. Not so sure now, because it might be possible to shorten the dress I chose and wear it again as a cocktail dress. I'll probably go barefoot for the ceremony, then wear some white flip flops.

After much discussion, we have decided to get legally married here and do a symbolic ceremony there. We are both divorced, so the cost of getting everything certified and translated and certified again was just ridiculous. FI was very much against the idea at first, feeling like we would be "cheating" our guests. After discussing it with some close friends, they all said go for it, who cares where you sign the papers. It's the exchanging of vows and rings that counts. We wanted to keep it a secret to everyone, and only tell our parents a week or two before so they could be there for the legal part. But one of FI's friend told her mom (who is invited, being a family friend). That mom reacted very well, but since the cat is out of the bag, we decided to tell our parents before they learn from anyone else. As I thought, my mom reacted very well. His mom, though, does not seems to understand the concept AT ALL. At first she wanted to make the ceremony here a big deal. She even wanted us to get married in a church, but thank god we are both divorced so that is not even an option. Then she wanted us to just tell everyone that it will only be the reception in Cuba, but the wedding will be here. Poor FI had to repeat over and over again that there WILL BE a ceremony in Cuba, that we are ONLY legally signing papers here, and just not to tell anyone anything. Really hope she won't go and confuse everyone...

Nice teaser picture Carribeanlover!! Yeah, my friend has endometriosis and has been incapable of getting pregnant. :-( Hope you have more luck than her!! Have fun in Mexico Heidylynn!

Yes, we are seriously thinking about trying soon after the wedding. Though, after all the stress I've had this week and feeling nauseous all the time, I'm thinking I'm not going to have an easy pregnancy... You?

The surprising thing is, when I asked my FI about me doing a BD shoot, he wasn't that interested. He said it was not his thing. I still want to do it for me though. One thing is for sure, I want to do a sexy/intimate maternity photoshoot the day I do get pregnant. Love those!!

I'll keep this in mind. I wouldn't be doing it until next year though. :-) The only thing I'd be worried about printing my pictures somewhere else cheap, is they might not want to print those pictures if they are "too revealing".

Wedding Dress Prices?
RonNMel replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
At first I was hoping to either buy a bridesmaid dress in white, or buy a knockoff dress. So my budget was under 300$. I went to try on dresses, and fell in love with one that was 525$ (before taxes). I was hesitant to buy it, because I wanted to have a knockoff version of it made. The salesperson asked me if it was the price that was keeping me from buying it. Is hould've said yes, she might have taken the taxes off or something. Instead I said no, just afraid of the prices of the alterations. Doh!! -
What was included for 75$?

going baby crazy and not even pregnant or close to being
RonNMel replied to purpleshells's topic in Just venting or funnies
When I was a teenager I had always envisioned myself being a very young mom. I wanted to have at least one kid before 25, but I'm 28 now so that didn't happened! LOL I've had the name picked since I was very young too (my great-grandma's name), but FI has already chosen the middle name. That is, if it's a girl. If it's a boy, we are at a LOST!!! We've thrown around a few names, but nothing sticks. FI's best friend has a 6 months old and are expecting the second child. They keep pressuring us to have kids NOW, so that ours kids can play together. Same for my friend who has fertility issues, she's pressuring me not to wait in case I end up having issues like her. But we really want to wait until after the wedding. It's one thing to be pregnant/have a baby when you get married here, but with a destination wedding it can make things VERY difficult. Plus, we want to enjoy our time together as well. Though we are not really just the two of us, he already has a 10 y.o. that spends every week-ends with us, plus one week out of two during summer and xmas vacations. -

RonNMel replied to Barrierunner's topic in Cuba Weddings
Yes, please let us know if you get the answer to the seating question. Lately I don't even email Yahimara directly anymore. My travel agent speaks spanish, so whenever I have a question I let her email or even call. My last question was when do we choose the restaurant we want to eat at and the time. She said once we get there. Did you egt the same answer or have some of you girls already reserved a restaurant? -
I'd love to get the # of that seamstress too! I don't want to have my dress fitted at the store I bought it when I know I can have it done much cheaper.

Our ideas so far are (1)each others initials on our ring finger (2) Since our names are Dylan 'N' Ashley, we were thinking of getting a little DNA (get it?) strand on our ring fingers to represent us! It's weird cuz hes STRONGLY against tattoo's and hes actually considering this for me! Makes me feel special! I, however, have ALWAYS wanted a tattoo. I really love gecko's so I want one tatt'ed on my foot so badly, but I suck with needles :/ I always prefer symbols to names or initials, so I'd say go with the DNA strand. :-) The Gecko sounds awesome too. Don't worry about needles. I have a phobia of needles, have often refused/avoided blood test and vaccines because of it. Can't even look at someone with a needle stuck in their arm. But I have no problem with tattoos because I feel the needles don't go deep into the skin. It's not the same kind of feeling at all.

Awww! I'm sorry your dress didn't come out the way you wanted. I don't know any seamstress, but why don't you do a search in the yellow pages? I think I came across one in the Laval area when I did a search for wedding dress shops.
