I have NO idea what kind of cake topper I want. I have looked all over and I just can’t find one I like. I was going to and letters, but I want to be able to save and display the cake topper after. So I go to figurines, but I don’t like any of them. I want the bride to kind of resemble me, long brown hair with a strapless dress and the groom with a black suit and brown hair. I am not finding anything I am too crazy over. I was thinking about a funny cake topper, but I rather stay more traditional like the rest of the wedding. Then there are the sites that will make a cake topper to look like you but they are too expensive. What is everyone doing for a cake topper? Are some of you not doing one at all and if you aren’t having one what is on top of your cake? I thought this would be easy.......

Aisle Runner on the Beach
hat0112 replied to heartbeat's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
We are having an isle runner, but it a hard isle runner so I can wear heels and not sink into the sand. My FI is 6’5” and I am 5’4” and he looks like a giant and I look tiny when I am not in high heels. I went to a wedding in Mexico and they had a regular isle runner and they just put different kinds of large shells on the edges of the isle runner. It seemed to work fine and it was a very windy day. The ceremony wasn’t on the beach, so I don’t know how the isle runners are in the sand. -
Congrats!!!!!! I am SO happy for you! You will love this site!

I used to love the chicken dance when I was young but after hearing it everyday during the summer from 5th grade to 9th grade, I just can't hear it anymore! Oh I can't stand YMCA! Good picks! They are all going on my list! Oh the hokie pokie! I forgot about that! Good one!

Thanks so much for the tips ladies! I used to work out all the time last year and I definitely remember how I felt after working out consistently for 7 months. I felt so horrible if I didn’t workout sometimes I would exercise at 10pm just because I couldn’t go to bed without doing something. I know I just need to get myself to do it. I love working out with friends or other people, but all my friends are too far away for us to workout together and I can’t afford to take classes right now. I wish I could get my FI to workout. I do love Jillian Michaels. I would do anything to train with her for a day. I love her sayings and one of my favorite is “Unless you are going to puke, faint or die keep walking!” I try and tell myself that if the contestants on the biggest loser at 300-500 lbs can workout for 6 hours a day, I can do something.

Ok, so I looked through all the threads on here for this and I didn’t see it. What is on your Do Not Play List? I am making lists of all the songs for the DJ to play, but I can’t think of any do not play songs and I KNOW there are some. So what’s on your list not to play? Oh, I do know one song I don’t want to hear…… the Chicken Dance!
-
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a combined parent dance? We are thinking about having our father/daughter and mother/son dance together, but I can’t seem to find a song I like. And it can't be country. I like country but the other 3 don't.

I was curious on how you ladies get yourself to workout. Do listen to music, watch tv or a movie, promise your some relax time? Do you trick yourself by saying that you will workout for 10 minutes, then workout longer? Or do you just tell yourself to suck it up and just do it I am having a hard time getting myself to exercise after work. I have been so tired lately after work lately so I am looking for some new ways to get myself going. I know all the reasons why I need to workout, but I am having a hard time doing it since I have to say that I hate all exercise.

I need to lose at least 20lbs (I would like 25lbs) by the wedding. I wish I would have been able to get myself to loose the weight a few months ago since my BD session is on 7/11 and it would have been nice to be at a size I feel good in. I also want to tan for the wedding, but I won’t start that until a month before. I am going to get acrylic nails put on about a month or so before and I want to start getting pedicures. I would love to get a facial or two but I don’t think I will have the money for that.

sash sharing (freecycle)
hat0112 replied to jaynreneewed's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I saw the sashes under Buy, Sell, Trade but they aren't satin. I probably should have mentioned that. So I am still looking for 40 black or grey satin sashes. -

I think it would be great! We could make is National Wear Your Wedding Dress Again Day! OMG that sunset is AMAZING! I can see all the beautiful colors in the background! I love love love sunsets (and I don’t get to see them much being in PA) so I can’t wait to see them in Aruba. Your cake looks really nice. I hope ours turn out that good! I am afraid of how they will interrupt what I told them we want in some weird way or the baker won't be very good. Oh that would great, thank you! Just so I can ask her about the timing of everything and how long it will take and it being October. I think it will help me relax a bit about it having a second opinion. -
heartbeat- Congrats on the baby and welcome! Well as far as planning goes, I ordered the mini jars for our favors that we are going to fill with M&Ms. And I got an email from my WC (a massive email with ton of things to decide on) and one of the things in it was about the DJ. I didn't even think about it, but I have to start picking songs for everything. Pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, cake cutting, slow songs, do not play list, etc. I am horrible at picking songs so I have been reading everything I can here under Music & Entertainment. We have a sound system for the ceremony and cocktail for my ipod that is included in the wedding package, then we are having a DJ for the reception. Has anyone else started this yet?

Ok, so I am trying to find some mother/son songs for my FI that are short and aren't really lovey dovey. I read on here that other brides were looking for the same thing. Could you share what you chose? Does anyone have any other ideas? I have looked through alot of songs and haven't been able to find one.

I am a hands-on person in general so for me it was a little rough to do everything remotely but we managed. Just remember that summer is the slowest season in Aruba so maybe he is just taking some time off. If you absolutely have to get in touch with him, I would call him directly or even the hotel and get someone on the phone. Go with what you want regarding time. He can say that 5:30 is best but he doesn't know your needs/reasons. So explain and then ask for the change. 5:30 is what they are used to so any change can create risk for them so they try to stick to the original time. But if you ask, they will be flexible I'm sure. I don't know about tape.. I never used it. But I would not worry about it. Worst case scenario, if the veil really bothers you, take a few pictures and then take it off anyway. Mine was off right after all the pictures were done! And since you have 2 veils, at least 1 will definitely work. Get ready for the gorgeous Aruba beaches and sunset. I have been going through the photographer's pictures and the sunsets are stunning. Lol... I wish we could do that! I know I will be upset to never wear it again! Maybe we should all meet up and wear our dresses! I am very detail oriented and a DW isn’t something I can do that with. But my WC got back to me today and I can see why it took him a while. He sent a big email with all sorts of decisions and thing we need to go over and decide on. The WC said we will actually try and start the ceremony at 5:15 and somehow that seems so much better, even though it is only 15 more minutes. Yeah, the veil isn’t staying on after the ceremony so I don’t have to worry about it for long. Ha, that’s true. If one veil bothers me I still have another. Oh I’m sure the pictures are gorgeous! I heard the sunsets there are amazing! -

YAY! Congrats! 1.8lbs is great! Well what I have been doing is egg whites with light cheese and low calorie bread or Kashi cereal for breakfast with a piece of fruit. Then a turkey sandwich with a zero point salad, a larger salad, soup, or a lean cuisine or smart one for lunch. I always have a snack with fruit and a zero point yogurt, or a fiber one bar, then dinner is usually a three piece meal (meat, starch, and a lot of veggies), or some recipe depending on the amount of points I have left. The points on the chicken breast depend on how many ounces it is. If it is a skinless, boneless 3oz chicken breast it is 3pts. I believe it come to 1 pt per ounce. If you don’t have a scale the chicken breast should be the size of your palm or a deck of cards.

Boudoir Photos - When to give??
hat0112 replied to selassie11's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I am giving my FI the album the morning of our wedding. We are spending the night before together and are going to separate after breakfast so I am going to give it to him when we wake up. I want to see his reaction to the book and I don’t want anyone else to see it so I would rather give it to him myself in private. -

I know that with destination weddings in general, the wedding coordinators do not want to get into all the details until 2-3 months before the wedding. So it is possible that they are just waiting until closer to the date. It would be nice if they told you that instead of just silence but I have a feeling that this is what is going on. I worked with Inge when we were considering the Westin and she was pretty responsive. It is scary for us, brides, but they tend to get most of the things done weeks from the wedding so just make sure that you are prepared when they do start asking you questions regarding flowers, decor, music, etc.. Regarding time, our ceremony was at 5:30 and we had plenty of sunlight BUT this was May, not November. If you are that concerned and are sure that you want it earlier, I do not see why they would not accommodate it! Will you be doing pictures before the ceremony? If not, then you have to explain it to the WC because they are assuming that you are! I would try to get in touch with the general manager or director of Food/Beverage if all else fails. Did you already sign the contract for the date with a certain time? Our ceremony was supposed to be at 6pm but our rabbi asked to move it to 5:30 since there was another jewish couple getting married on the island the same night and he wanted to do both weddings if possible. The Hyatt had no problem changing our time even though we already had everything signed. I have a feeling that with you, they are just busy with weddings that are coming up soon and do not want to get into details of Nov weddings yet. Yes, we had NO wind at all at our wedding which was so strange. It was very hot which was unusual as well, record heat LOL. It felt more like Mexico than Aruba for sure but it was fine. Later in the week it did get windy, with some serious gusts of air. I think a longer veil will actually work better than a shorter one with wind, the short one would be flying all over the place but the long will stay put under its own weight. If you don't have beading on the veil, maybe put some beads at the bottom to add some weight. I'm attaching a pic of mine just for reference but we didn't have any wind.. Well he did send an email that he would get back to me. We have been making a few decisions already and the response time was fine up until recently. I am not too concerned right now since I have 4 months to go, but I like to have everything planned and organized and I can't if he doesn't respond. The WC said he would move it up if it is what I want, but he insists on 5:30. I think I might still end up moving it up. I would feel more comfortable since we aren't doing pictures before the ceremony. I thought about it, but I really don’t want my FI to see me until I walk down the isle. I am concerned about getting that message to my guests, but I guess I can tell everyone at the rehearsal dinner. Beading on the veil is a good idea. I also have a second veil that is about the length of yours that will go on top of the cathedral length veil. Each veil is only one piece and when you put it together it looks like one. I heard about brides using Hollywood Wedding Tape and taping the veil to the dress but I am worried the tape will ruin my dress. PS- I love your dress! -
I don’t think you need to plan out events for your guests. Your guests are paying a lot of money to be at the wedding and they might want to try and get a vacation out of it, but if there are too many events planned, they might feel obligated to go. The only events we are doing are the welcome dinner, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We have mentioned to some guests we are doing a dinner/bar crawl that they have in Aruba that we were told was something you have to do, but we aren’t having it as an event. Everyone going to the wedding has never been to Aruba so I know that they all want to do things and explore on their own even though I know we will probably be spending a lot of time with our guests anyway.

nicdeb928 - Good luck at your meeting tonight! Oh it is so hard to stay on track when you have so much going on! I was at 18pts last year and it was very heard to stay at that on a normal day when you don't have to worry about eating out. I found myself working out alot to earn my AP and eating those so I wasn't so hungry. Let us know who your meeting went. Oh, I had a thought, I think I am going to put my weight loss on here every Monday to keep me motivated (I weigh myself on Saturday morning). Having to put my weight loss online for others to see will get on the right track so I don't have to post that I gained weight! So even though my weekend was bad, I did lose 1lb from last week. But I have been this weight for a month now so I only lost what I just gained.
