  1. Also, for the lower guest count after the 8:45 pm dinner you can leave the resort to the Riu Yucatan and rent their disco for an additional fee... but by then it's 11 pm and my fi's mother, older guests and younger nephew & niece would be headed to bed... Oy, what a scattered day. Not how I pictured my wedding, not how I pictured my first dance. Thought I would share what I learned for those brides with a lower guest count. On a happy note, because I did fall in love with the RPRM even though it's not the place for my wedding... we ended up booking a trip there and I leave this Friday 2/26 for paradise!
  2. The downside is if you have under 57 ppl and still want a private dinner and DJ. I originally contacted the Wedding Sales Coordinator Daniela Flores for Friday May 7, 2010 wedding at the Gazebo at 4:00 pm for 35 guests. I was told that dinner would be at 8:45 pm at Boto Fogo's, for an additional fee with a 27person minimum the dinner could be private and a dj would be and additional fee. My next question: what do you do for four hours btwn 5 o'clock and 8:45 pm Answer: cocktail hour, appetizers additional fee So at this point I was willing to adapt to a VERY long cocktail hour and hope that everyone wouldn't be very drunk or tired before dinner, willing to have the mariachi for entertainment... and still ready to book.... then I read on this forum that 57 ppl were needed in order to have a DJ...? WHAT So I emailed her back this, What if there are under 27 guests? Answer: 26 guests and under dinner would be at 6:30 pm at Chili's, dinner not private. That's when I was told about the minimum of 57 guests in order to be guaranteed a DJ. Otherwise you can rent the RIU Yucatan disco ...of course for an additional fee and have to leave the resort so late at night, considering older guests and younger nieces and nephews... Ugh. What a random day it would turn out to be. I was very upset that they were not upfront everything. She kept saying that once you book it the wedding coordinator would contact me 2 months prior to the date and answer all my questions. I would have been VERY upset to have me and my guests for my dream wedding to have such a random, scattered wedding day. It seems from this forum that at a 60 guest count, however, you get the earlier seating at 6:30 pm at Chili's (prettier place, BETTER time) PLUS you get a DJ. It also seems that all of the GREAT reviews on this forum came from a guest count of around 60 ppl.
  3. Dear RPRM forum, Now that I have the time I would like to share why I did not end up booking my wedding at the RPRM. For starters, I fell in love with this Riu through online pics & reviews. This forum even confirmed that I wanted my wedding there.... the comments and picture sharing on this forum are amazing!!!! I sent the hotel info to friends & family who loved it too. Here is the downside:
  4. like! hats with pom-poms on them?
  5. Oy, that's the worst situation for the couple and the guests! If there wasn't travelor's insurance, no choice but to make the best of it. I once went to a wedding shower of a friend who broke up with her fi one week later and cancelled the wedding... The weird part was that she spent the gift card and then I got a "thank you" card for her gift 6 mos. later... wtf?? It was awkward. Always awkward when the couple splits.
  6. Great pics, I love love love reviews with pics. Thank you for sharing!
  7. Wow! They really are alot better with the editing... No kidding about Where's Waldo? I couldn't even see you in some of the before's. I reallly like the color & contrast they edited, it totally brightened up the pics! Congrats on the wedding!
  8. like like or dislike: Veggie Pizza?

Gosh I love both and could see myself/Kory loving either of them on our wedding day.. Thoughts? Dress #2 looks great on you! It's my pick, it is stunning! #1 is pretty and simple, and I like the back of it. Go with the one that makes you feel the prettiest
  10. It seems there will always be something or someone conflicting with the dates, that was very considerate of you to change the date! I bet it will be even more special with the time you have to plan it! Now that you have the time, I found this website yesterday from The Dazzling Details that has very thoughtful ideas to include in your DW. They had great ideas and if you or anyone you know are crafty you may be able to re-create some ideas. Best of wishes and Happy Planning! Here is their FB fan page: Login | Facebook
  11. Clearly your practical and that is making you fell torn. But it is your soecial day and i f a dress can make you feel that way... get it!
  12. Woo hoo! You can do it, get on your dress ASAP! How exciting! The RPRM has the est reviews!
  13. The Atlantis is GORGEOUS! I haven't been there for a few years but I still dream about it!
  14. Destination weddings make things like this all the more difficult when it comes to traveling and especially babies! I can totally relate! Everytime I would even talk about a date or even a season in the year, somebody is talking babies. Eventually I was came to the conclusion that it was my special day and I had to do it at a time that worked well for me. They'll be there in spirit! Have someone film the ceremony if you don't have a videographer. Best wishes to you!
  15. This is a special time and a special occasion which is why your fi and mother's emotions are high. It isn't easy for most guests financially to go to a destination wedding. After all it's the presence of friends and family that truly make the experience all the more meaningful. Good for you for setting the example for your fi & mom, tell them that you're just happy to have them there regardless of what day they arrive. They should catch on. Once they get there they probably won't even care, who can be angry in paradise? Perhaps you could tell Mr. & Mrs. Know-It-All that you ansolutely want to be surprised about the resort and see it through your own eyes first... that way it won't make things too awkward so they'll back off.
