  1. Wow that is great to read!!! Thank you for posting all that and it makes me so excited to get married there. We are anxiously waiting until July when our second baby is born, and also when the tour operators come out with their prices so we can book our trip!!! In the mean time, I am having so much fun planning the wedding, doing some little DIY projects and getting things in order. If anyone else has been to this resort or plans to get married here, let's chat!
  2. Yeah maybe I am just not proper but I think if some guests decide to book last minute to save a few bucks and end up not being at the same resort as me, I am not going to be out that same few bucks for their day pass! But that's me...and my non proper ways! lol.
  3. I know what you mean about hiring Vienna. But I was talking specifically about Ali, after her Bachelorette gig ends just in case she gets fired from her Facebook job!
  4. I'm bumping this up because it's been a couple months and no update on what if anything is still available. Have you sold any or all of these? I only need two bridesmaid bouquets...How much are you asking for those on their own? They are beautiful!!
  5. Does anyone have her direct email address? I can't seem to sign into etsy for some reason and my outlook will not allow me to email her directly from the site! My computer has been acting up lately as far as this stuff goes, so if someone could post or PM me Danielle's email address that would be fab! Thanks!
  6. Great! I will check out my Michaels tonight after work. Wonder if there are sales at the Canada ones...
  7. I STILL think there should be a separate little forum under the Buy/Sell section for us Canadian girls! Even if there is a receipt for what you paid, customs can still say that the VALUE of the goods is more than what you paid and you still might be stuck with duty fees. I am pretty leary of having stuff shipped from the states, even as a gift, because of this. Luckily I have a cousin in Texas who visits Canada all the time, so I have a "wedding mule in the states!" Although with the exchange rate as good as it is, we CAN find some great deals online and in the States!! Thanks for the heads up!
  8. I think it's a nice gesture...everyone likes little edible favours. If it was me I would wait until close to my wedding date, see how my budget looks and if there is some room to do this then go for it. If it would be pushing the budget however, it would be something you could skip. No one is going to starve at an AI...but the gesture is sweet.
  9. Im going the DIY route myself. I bought a few iron ons at Michaels and am just going to make a few custom tanks/t's that say Bride, Tying the Knot, Property of the Groom and I DO!
  10. Those are beautiful! I chose A because my eyes naturally kept going back to that one. But you cant go wrong with any of them. Your cousin did a great job.
  11. I agree too....Yes Ali probably will have to quit her job to be the Bachelorette. But that being said, I would totally quit my job too for that opportunity. Good thing I have already found the perfect man! lol. But yeah, she will get a ton of opportunity from this and will probably not have any issues finding a job afterwards! I mean, lots of people would want to hire a girl thats been on tv!
  12. There is a ton of info on this board, but not much on the resort that I am strongly considering for our Feb. 2011 wedding! I get jealous looking on the Iberostar threads with all the info on those specific to those resorts. lol. Anyway I just wanted to start a thread on SLS for past and present brides to discuss our weddings there and share info and tips etc. My FMIL just got back from Cuba and she did a tour of SLS for us, since we won't be able to scout it out ourselves before booking. She was very impressed and said it was beautiful, huge and looked like a great place for a wedding. She said that even her daughter (a travel snob) would be impressed, so that's a good thing. If any of you are getting married here, please share your experiences in planning and of course reviews afterwards!
  13. I am also trying to keep a strict budget for our wedding and being Canadian (like you!) we researched around and found that the cheapest place for us and our guests to travel is Cuba. A few things that I am doing to stick on a budget is: bought a used dress (still in excellent condition), buying FI's suits on Studio Suits (There is a thread on here about them, well priced, only $99 US for a custom made linen suit) designed and am printing my own invitations, doing OOT bags (out of town) for my guests, but am keeping strict track of everything that I am spending on them and will not go over $15 per bag...hmmm. That's all I can think of so far. It is possible to stay on a budget though! The things like decorations and big guest favours are not always necessary. The resorts will usually have decor (inquire with your wedding coordinator) and guests at a DW won't expect a big favour. Good luck!
  14. He broke Tenley's heart....now let's see what happens with Vienna!
  15. Yeah Vienna did bomb. But Tenley...I mean, is anyone REALLY that sweet? Like annoyingly so? She had his dad in tears within minutes of meeting each other. It just seemed so corny and over the top. I am not thrilled with either of these final two! Jake is a moron.
  16. So...can I come? It seems like everyone else is asking if they can come! LOL. Aww I feel bad for you! I have a big family as well and a big reason I wanted to have a DW was to just make it small and intimate for the people I want there. Have you tried to explain to your mom and tell her exactly how much each OOT bag etc is costing you and how you want the guest list to be kept to a minimum. Another suggestion is to have an at home reception and invite all those people your mom wants to invite (or your exs mom or whatever! lol)
  17. Looks great, I have been looking for a free, nice and easy to navigate site for my wedding! Looks like this could work. Thanks and good luck with your wedding.
  18. I am hoping this will not become a problem with my group, but already a couple people have mentioned that a "last minute price would be better" I am simply going to tell them that if they want to be for sure considered a part of the wedding group, they need to book with us. This will save them from not booking until last minute and being sent to a diff. resort or even worse, not being there on the right day. And I hear you on the free seats with the group bookings! I want my free seat too! I think with Feb, it won't be as much of a problem though. I checked around this month for last minute rates and the cheapest I saw was maybe $150 cheaper than the group rate I am hoping to get so hopefully people will not take the chance for 150.
  19. I know! I totally want one for myself. I showed my FI and he was like "you would spend 25 on a hanger??" Oh he doesn't know brides!
  20. Wow this is better than a soap opera! I'm curious on the outcome of this as well.
  21. Adorable! They come up with the cutest things. And that looks a lot like my dress. I don't think it's the exact one but very similar! You've got good taste.
  22. I love those Michaels solid coloured ones! I can't find them anywhere though. What aisle did you ladies find them in at Michaels. When I ask a sales assoc. about them, they look at me like I have two heads.
  23. I am interested in the pink and red passport covers. Let me know if they are sold yet! Also, how much do you want for the luggage tags? I am interested in the blue ones if they are around .50 each....
