I'm just waiting for Tom Cruise to finally come outta the closet now!

Switch resorts. The wedding week is about all of you, your family, friends that came to join you in the wedding festivities. The honeymoon is you and your husband. Personally I would leave the timeshare and go book into some great resort for the week.

SInce you are in the States, I can't help out much with particular stores, but you gave them a pretty easy colour to work with. They can literally go anywhere and buy a "little black dress" especially if you don't want something bridesmaidy! Any of those cute stores like BCBG or LeChateau up here in Canada (google it)...even Forever 21 has some cute black dresses.

We are getting some cone shaped cello bags and filling them with candy (smarties in half of them...they are like m&m's to all you US girls!! A fave here in Canada! and mini chicklets in the other half) We are going to tie with a ribbon and put a little card that says "You're so SWEET to join us today!" We will alternate that half the table gets the smarties and half get the gum. It wont be much money at all for these, I imagine under $1.50 each including the bags.

Step-Dad's label on Welcome book??
AlexsBride replied to LadyTrunck's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
That's what I would suggest too....I have a step dad too but will not be giving him much as far as "labels" go since he has not been a big part of my life and I was already a grown adult when he came around. And my real father has always been a part of my life. I would try to just say Parents and leave it at that! -

I hear ya...But the thing with reviews is that they are only that...one persons experience. And it has been told to me by a couple of TA's that if someone has a bad experience they will write a review about it and post it everywhere they can. However if they have a good time, they might not even think about writing a review about it afterwards. It's the same in real life when you think about it. If I have a bad experience with a phone company, I will write a bad review about them online or write a letter to the company. But if I have great service etc. I will just leave it and not bother writing anything. Also, with the recent reviews of SLS, with the wedding stuff in particular, the wedding coordinator was off work recovering from a car accident for two weeks, so they had someone fill in. Granted, it wasn't as organized as it usually was. You can not write a review on a resort and base it all on a bunch of idiot guests who unfortunately were staying there the same time as you! Don't go on vacation during March Break or Reading weeks...it's a given you are going to have some loud, young, beer guzzling guests there! But it's not the resorts fault ya know?

Your flowers are beautiful, though when I emailed Enchanted Memories, I didn't even get a reply. I took my business elsewhere.

Izzie gone from Grey's for sure, announced today. Sound off!!!
AlexsBride replied to Diva's topic in Random Thoughts
Remember she came back for like...I think one episode and her and Alex broke up? I cant remember much about the episode. I just remember Alex telling her that he deserves better than what she is able to give him. They were in the locker room. I am going to miss Izzie but I think I just like her character. I don't know why they kept her alive though and beat this cancer that apparently kills like 95% of the people that get it! -
We checked prices on all of the resorts you mentioned and one that you didn't--Sirenis La Salina. We are strongly leaning towards that one because of the huge difference in price. When we asked our agent why the price difference was so big (it was $500 less per person) she explained that it was because it is a very large resort and it is fairly new.

Yeah I gotta agree with the other ladies on this thread...when I saw that you wanted to give cigars, I thought, oh that's nice...Cuban. But then when I saw that you wanted to make a donation to the Cancer society my first thought was "those two kind of conflict..." I think it's gotta be one or the other and the cancer society has to trump cigars, especially since that it is in memory of your Dad.

I have lots of experience in the condo/all inclusive debate...I own a condo company on the North Coast in the Dominican Republic. Several of my clients opt for the condo route after "getting bored with AI's"...and after a few vacations at an All Inclusive, you do get bored. For our wedding, we are going the AI route simply because we don't want to have to look after anything once we get there. Also we are getting married in Cuba and I am guessing the condos in Hawaii are going to be much nicer! Being able to make your own meals, especially breakfast is nice in a condo.

Dumped by a BM via text message!
AlexsBride replied to ~Crista-Lee~'s topic in Just venting or funnies
Sounds like she would have been a pain in the ass bridesmaid anyway and you're probably better off without her. The thing is, as we get older and get with our significant other, we do drift apart from our friends a little. But when I do eventually catch one my Best friends on the phone after not talking for awhile, we are able to catch up like we no time at all has gone by. Don't let it bug you too much... -
We were having a bit of an issue finding a nice dress shirt that was meant to be untucked for my FI and his guys. Finally yesterday at Roots 73 in the Vaughn Mall (there are other locations in Canada) and they were on sale for 25% off of 24.99! Came to just over $20 with taxes and we couldnt be happier. I looked online but they do not have this shirt on there. It is a collared, button down short sleeved dress shirt that is meant to stay untucked and looks great! They had different colours and patterns but we opted with the off white. It had a very faint textured stripe pattern. They also had some blues, tans, browns and striped patterns and a few others. Just wanted to share in case there are some more people having shirt shopping issues!

Ladies, the original poster of this message no longer checks the boards but if you send her a private message, she gets email notification. Send her a PM if you are interested. That's how I got a hold of her and I bought four of the Bridesmaid bouquets. -
I am ordering satin sashes and they are 8 inches by 108 inches.

"Good Friend" bails out of wedding to get a dog?
AlexsBride replied to yumyum90's topic in Just venting or funnies
Since I am a bride (as you are all as well!!!) and we are all quite focused on planning our weddings, I know that sometimes I forget that its really not even on the thoughts of other people in my life. I mean, I have never gotten overly excited or involved in anyone elses wedding so I know how that can happen. It would hurt and I understand that your feelings are hurt over this situation...But at the end of the day your wedding is one day (or a one week vacation...) and this friend is (hopefully) going to have this new dog for a very long time. We cant tell people how to spend their money. Don't write her off, maybe tell her that you are hurt that she will not be able to attend and be the bigger person and buy the new pup a chew toy! -
Favours/welcome gift done!

You did a great job! I am sure I will be borrowing your brochure when I am ready to put something together for our group! Thanks!!!! -
What to get for men for OOT bags?
AlexsBride replied to ourvm's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Yeah I am doing one bag per couple...and am not focusing AS much on the guys than the girls! Just because I know the guys in my group, most of the stuff will end up in the garbage and I don't want it to be a waste of money. I am doing a pair of flip flops for everyone (hopefully can hit the dollar sale at Old Navy!) and then the standard, gender neutral stuff, like meds, drink mix etc. -
This sounds like a horrible situation under NORMAL circumstances, but to have to deal with this all after the sudden passing of your father? Wow. I can't imagine what you have been going through! I'm so sorry that you lost your dad, especially before your big day where I know you would have wanted him there with you. As for the problems with Signature, if you have copies of the contract with them, I would suggest contacting a lawyer and seeing if there is anything that can be done. I realize that your plans are back on track, but they should certainly make up for this error.

FS: Beautiful Calla Bouquets *PICS*
AlexsBride replied to edssbride09's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Just wanted to let everyone know that I am waiting on shipping four of these BM bouquets from this Bride. She has been a dream to deal with, but does not log onto the BDW boards much anymore since she is enjoying her days as a Happy Newlywed! If you are interested in the remaining two BM bouquets and Brides bouquet, send her a PM because she does get Email notification of Private Messages! -
1. How old are you? 29 2. At what age did you/will you get married? 30 3. Do you have children? I have a sweet little almost 2 year old daughter named Izzy and am pregnant with our second, due in July! 4. Did you think you would marry the person you are with now? I had a crush on him when I was fifteen. Twelve years later when we "reconnected" on Facebook, I had visions of us being together forever. 5. Do you want a garden wedding, beach wedding, or the traditional church wedding? Beach!!! 7. Where did you/will you get married? Varadero, Cuba. We think at Sirenis La Salina. 8. First dance - classic waltz, slow and sexy, or fast and spicy? slow and sexy 9. How many guests did you/will you have? 20-25 10. Do you want/did you have an extravagant wedding or a simple wedding? Simple, but beautiful. 11. Vows - traditional or something you make up on your own? We will write out own vows. 12. How many layers of cake did you/will you have? Don't know. I guess what the resort gives us! 13. Is/was your wedding/reception at a hotel? At a resort, on the beach. 14. When did you/will you get married - sunrise, mid-day, sunset? Dont know yet.
