Post Wedding Sale - New and Used Items
AlexsBride replied to Crystal&Matt2010's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
How did you wear the birdcage veil? Was it with the hair poppy in the back of your hair? It looks beautiful either way. If it is not sold let me know! Or where did you get it? Looking for something similar for our evening reception... Brooke -
Yeah the guys are a little tougher...I am doing one bag per couple as well. Figure it will be the girl carrying around the bag all week anyway! I think the only single guy I have to worry about is my 19 year old brother and he wouldn't care anyway if I even give him a bag! LOL. There were some cute toiletry kits at Walmart for around 4 bucks for guys. It is in the travel section of Health and Beauty. There are also a ton of little things you can get for a guy there. Like mini deoderants, Axe body spray, 3 pack condoms *never know!* mini toothbrushes and toothpaste, shout wipes...body wash...lots of stuff!

It sounds like your wedding was fantastic and I hope you have fond memories of it for many years to come! It also made me excited for my wedding in Cuba (though a different resort, still excited!) I am on the fence about hiring the musical trio, but I had my suspicions that they would likely only play a couple songs and I think I might skip that...Thanks for your honest review!

Is this veil still available or has it been sold?

I lived in the DR for over three years, as a single girl in my 20s and never once felt in any kind of danger. You are perfectly safe to go off the resort to get your photos done AND they will likely know of some nice places to take you. Dominicans are poor but they are not out to hurt you. You won't be taking a large wad of cash with you on your TTD shoot, so they wouldn't be out to rob you. And the guards with the shot guns at the resort, they are really just for show to be honest! The guard where I lived had a gun and never even had any bullets in it!

I just got back from Dollarama (I posted this on the Canada OOT bag website already) and found some great jute bags for $2 each. They are the perfect size for OOT bags and came in nice colours. Red, Hot Pink and chocolate brown with turquoise handles. They also had several slightly bigger jute bags that were the natural colour with flowers on them.

Just got back from Dollarama and scored some awesome Jute bags to use as our OOT bags. I saw them awhile ago but they only had natural coloured ones and I was kind of wanting something a little more colourful. I went today and they had chocolate brown with turquoise handles, hot pink and dark red! I bought enough for our guests, half the brown ones and half the red ones. They are $2 each, so a great price.

I lost 50 lbs on WW a few years ago and since having my first baby have gained it ALL back! Now planning my wedding for Feb.2011 and am due with my second baby in 7 weeks. I'm going to start WW again once I pop this baby out to get back in shape for my wedding. Congrats on your weight loss and commitment! I'm sure you look and feel fantastic. It takes patience and work. I have to remind myself that I didn't gain the weight overnight, so I am not going to lose it overnight either! Fruit smoothies have been a blessing for me! A cup of crystal light and then frozen fruit in the magic bullet first thing in the morning and only count the points for the fruit! Usually 1-2.

Looking for Candian Photographer for Cuba Wedding
AlexsBride replied to Crystalballl's topic in Destination Wedding Vendors
I have been back and forth on the photographer thing. I want to bring my own...I found a girl who is building her portfolio and will do it very reasonably. Just trying to figure out if it is in the budget! -
I have had a ton of requests for these templates to be emailed to different email addresses (usually because they have Noob status). I love to help people out, but it doesnt take a lot of time to get to the level of 150 posts to be able to open these documents. I had to get to that number before I could open up any of the templates as well so I would like to just respectfully ask everyone to use the attachments on this thread and not ask me to email them separately. If you have just joined the site, that means you are probably in the early stages of planning your wedding and have lots of time to be able to open the attachments!

Important - NEW Requirements for Cuban travel
AlexsBride replied to robbiemoe's topic in Cuba Weddings
Does anyone know if the CAA insurance is accepted? -
I wholeheartedly agree with the ladies that have suggested to use a good primer as a base. I will be using a mineral powder foundation as opposed to a liquid foundation just because I like the lightness of a powder, especially out in the sun. Go to Sephora and see whats available. My fave is bare minerals, but there are lots out there!

OOT question
AlexsBride replied to Barrierunner's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We are giving ours out when we get there as well...around the same number that you will be doing also! I see it as a fun little welcome gift for guests, so I want them to actually GET them when we get there as opposed to before. I would be afraid that they might just not bring them on the trip if I give them out before and then it kinda defeats the purpose... -
I wasn't looking to pay big bucks for luggage tags, so I decided to make them a DIY project using business cards from Vistaprint. They turned out really nice!! I got the tag holders from Walmart ($3.00 for ten) three different spools of narrow coloured ribbon (using my wedding colours of course!) only .50 a spool!! And then I got the red cardstock at Staples. A hint, I used a gluestick at first but then went out and bought a container of that rubber cement to glue the cards to the cardstock backing. This was much better!!!

A few PM's have come into my mailbox asking for the template I used. Feel free to use this as a guide. Again, a big thanks to the ladies that posted theirs on here because I used bits and pieces from a lot of them. The boarding passes are using Microsoft Word (including a few fonts you will have to download) The Ticket jacket is power point. Any questions just ask. Thanks for all the nice comments ladies! I did them a little early because I am due in 7 weeks to have baby number 2, so knew that I wouldn't have a ton of time for wedding projects soon. To answer about the cardstock...I bought it at La Serre in Vaughn Mills Mall...But it is a chain, so see if there is one near you!

This totally snuck up on me! But my guests are nerds and most of them havent even put their deposit down so they will not be getting flip flops from me in their OOT bags! Unless I get them on sale at the end of the summer when they have all put down their deposit. Sorry not gonna spend a dime on you if I don't know that you are going to be there!! LOL.

Thanks ladies. Again, it would not have been possible without the templates found on here! They were a HUGE HUGE HUGE help! Even with them, hours were spent on that laptop, so if i had to start from scratch without a template, I can only imagine how long they would have taken. I will be posting the templates after I get back from the long weekend if anyone is interested in using it as a starting point...
