That's good to know that there is the option to sign some "fake documents"...even though I don't think it's a big deal, my FI feels like our guests will feel kinda "cheaped out" if it is not a real wedding, just a symbolic ceremony. Since it's just our close friends and immediate family, I don't think they will really care! Saves us having to wait forever for the legal documents and having to have his divorce decree translated.
-
Im also wondering how a symbolic ceremony is different from a legal one. We are doing the legal marriage before we leave to avoid the extra paperwork involved. Sounds like a wonderful wedding and you are happy with your choice to have a destination wedding!!

AHR/Stag and doe venue bankrupt!!
AlexsBride replied to Tilly in the Sun's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I feel just sick to think that you lost all that money from your deposit. It's sort of ironic that you put a deposit down and if YOU back out you won't get it back. But if the VENUE backs out...you STILL won't get it back! The world is a bit strange that way. Hope everything turns out and you manage to find an even better place to hold your Stag n Doe and AHR! -
Matching Flower Girl Dress?
AlexsBride replied to momx2's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Go with the one you love and start a search for one for the baby that is in the same color family/material that could go with it. I think there is enough of an age difference between the girls that it doesn't have to be perfectly matched. My stepdaughter will be 5 and my daughter will be 2 1/2 when I get married and I don't think I will get them a totally matching dress either. -
I thought the slowness was just because of my stupid dial up internet. But I hope it will soon start running a little faster! I love this site. Couldn't plan my wedding without it.

I'm not really sure what kind of decor items the resorts will have, so I will be bringing a cake topper for sure and favours for the guests. Also these aren't really decorations but the OOT bags are important to me. Other than that, I will probably leave it up to the wedding coordinator to make it look pretty!

ILA Brides, what do you have planned so far for your big day?
AlexsBride replied to Barrierunner's topic in Cuba Weddings
Wow, all this price confusion would drive me crazy! Ladies, you're so patient!! This kind of thing is normal though...I used to live in the Dominican Republic and the same kind of thing happened there. It's great advice to hang onto all your emails and even print them off and bring them in a binder with you to the resort so that you have a leg to stand on in case there are any discrepencies in the prices! -
Wow Vienna sticks around! I can't believe it. I was sure that she would be going home. Ali is definitely dwelling on her dislike of Vienna too much though and it's unattractive in my opinion. She was my favourite at the start but now I'm not sure. I think I like Gia the best. Tenley is very beautiful too but I think that high pitched voice would get on my nerves after awhile!!

Thanks for posting this and I have borrowed your template and have been playing around with it myself! Your invites turned out stunning, I hope I can do them justice. I have a couple questions though...I am using red instead of orange and can't figure out how to change the colour of the arrow in between "staple here" Also...The hibiscus flowers won't show up, only lines and the palm tree has completely disappeared. I'm sorry, I am a bit of a computer illiterate...Do you know what I am doing wrong?

My photographer is pretty lax and actually just told me that I could write out my own contract, what I expected (wedding day, TTD session etc) and then we would come up with a price based on that. I found it difficult to work with his at home wedding packages because a destination wedding is so different. As for payment, I have worked with him before, so I will likely end up paying him just after we return from the trip.

BM Dresses Ordered! Yay!
AlexsBride replied to ~Stephanie~'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
That's an adorable dress. I was just talking to my BM and she said "make sure we can get a dress I can wear again!!" If they have it in red, I am going to check it out! -
I wouldnt expect guests to pay for their own meals at a shower either...I kind of compare it to asking them to pay for their meal at a wedding! They are bringing gifts and coming to celebrate your upcoming wedding...shouldn't cost them an additional $25. Usually the person who is throwing the shower pays the bill, but with just one attendant that is a lot to expect. Maybe she can throw you a shower with your Mom and MIL at someones house and share the costs? Good luck though! High tea sounds so grown up!

FS - 5 bridesmaid dresses - turquoise
AlexsBride replied to lexibride's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Those are super cute!! I just have a MOH and I think she would like this dress...I'm going to get her to check out the site and tell me what she thinks. I don't think there is a Forever21 in Canada...Do you still have the Large left? I think it would fold up small in a padded envelope and not be too expensive to mail, no more than a few bucks I would imagine. Also, Do you take Paypal? -
Custom Linen Suits $99!
AlexsBride replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks! I think my gut is saying English Beige as well. I know my honey will look very handsome either way. -
Sadly, Im addicted as well. It has worked out great, every Monday I watch the Bachelor and FI goes into the other room to watch football! Has anyone else noticed a resemblance between Gia and Brittany Murphy? I noticed it this week, especially in the mouth!

The fact that everything is becoming a competition would bother me...but unfortunately I don't see any options in what you can do!! I got a little annoyed when this kind of thing happened to us. Not a competition...but we got engaged on Thanksgiving of last year and my FI's brother proposed to his GF on New Years Eve. No biggie. But then they decided that they wanted to get married sooner rather than later, so set their date for Sept. 4/2010. I didn't really think much of it at first, but then I started thinking about it. I'm four months pregnant right now (which is why we are waiting until Feb.2011 to have our wedding) and they are planning their stag 'n' doe, bachelor and bachelorette parties all during the month I am due! My FI is in the wedding party so they want me to take part as well. I just said that if I happen to go into labour, my FI WILL be missing their event in favour of him coming to the hospital with me! Also, a family member said "wow, that's a lot of wedding stuff...there might not be time with Bros wedding happening in Sept and then Christmas to even do a stag n doe or parties for Your wedding in Feb! I'm just trying to go with the flow and keep things as separate as possible. Not worth getting into a big family arguement over, especially since it's FI's family and not mine.

Those look fantastic. Such a cute idea to incorporate the boarding pass on a postcard. A lot less work I'm sure! Perhaps I could talk my friends boyfriend, who is a graphic designer to whip something up for me and I could print it off on 5x7 matte photo paper at Walmart. Wouldn't cost more thanaround $15 for the small amount I need! I love this site, I am getting great ideas!

I'm in the same boat, planning a wedding in Feb. 2011 but so far have not selected dates or a resort. I still want to give people notice to save money etc. so if there are some suggestions on some quick and easy STD's and wording that would be fantastic. I was thinking of just doing a simple design on the computer, along with a picture of FI and me and printing them out on photo paper...But without a set date, can I just put "Feb/2011" and "Expect a formal invite this summer!" Thoughts, suggestions?

Darn, I can only see a couple pics too, but from what I can see is amazing. I am totally going to borrow this idea and do these for my OOT bags. Did you just do one book per couple? I guess that would make sense...I am going to email you for the templates as well, even though its in adobe, can still get some ideas since I cant see the pics!

Dollerama Finds
AlexsBride replied to isaidyes's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I love Dollarama, even though they have raised some of their prices to 2.00!! NSbride, your FI looks like Taylor Lautner! Has he been told that? I haven't gotten to the planning stages for OOT bags yet, but these are some great ideas!
