  1. I just looked at the Bittwersweet website and it seems that she is ONLY doing DIY rentals now. No flowers anymore. (At least I could not see any pics of flowers or info on them) From what I can tell by just reading this post, it seems to be a classic case of someone taking on more than they can handle. Makes me very hesitant to order something like flowers online that needs to be shipped sight unseen and I will be only dealing with local flower vendors to ensure that I like the products I get!!

Who has the copyrights? - Actually in Canada the subject in the photo ALWAYS holds the copyrights unless photographers takes it via a release form. This is a new law). If your photographer does not specify anything in the contract, you can pretty much do anything you want with your pictures and at the same time forbid your photographers in using these images in any way) 9out10 wedding photographers are part timers and don't know much about contracts, laws and sometimes you need to make sure you are protected as a client too. Because what happens if your $1000 photographer finds another couple 1 week before the wedding willing to pay him $3000? You can scream and yell, but without a proper contract you can't do anything(this happens quite a bit..) Hope this helps Thanks for your info. I should have maybe been more clear. I didn't mean to indicate that we are not going to do a contract. He has a standard contract as far as that goes, its just not specific to destination weddings. So that's why I said that we are going to format one together with all of the legal aspects as well as what it is that I am wanting from him. He is not a part time photog, he works as a full time photographer, but is just getting back into destination weddings now that his kids are older. But again, thank you for the info and I will absolutely make sure both parties are protected in the contract. Your photos are beautiful by the way.
  3. Wow, I just read your review and didn't read any of the 16 pages that follow (I am on dial up, it would take forever!!) but this review is just horrendous! To think that some a&%hole charged you that amount of money to take those pictures is just baffling to me. A bride doesn't get to "re-do" her wedding day! I probably would not have been able to keep it cool and be as nice to him as you were!
  4. It's great that you managed to salvage your photos...What a nightmare to have to go through! I think photos are one of the most important elements of a wedding.
  5. Those are really cute, I am going to check out Michaels sometime and see if I can pick up a few for me and my ladies. I can just picture my little 2 year old in a flower girl one!!!
  6. I am not that good at PowerPoint but wanted to design my own logo/monogram for our wedding. I found this great step-by-step instruction guide online and wanted to share it in the hopes that it can help some of you girls with yours. This is the link. Good Luck! How To Design Your Own Monogram In Microsoft Word - Project Wedding
  7. What an awful thing to happen so soon after becoming newlyweds. Hope she is doing ok.
  8. I saw the cutest passport covers at Michaels the other day, in silver and gold. I am thinking about buying them for our guests. Cant remember the price though. As for luggage tags, I will probably throw something together as well on business cards and have them laminated or put in laniards.
  9. Im kinda with NaM on this one...wouldn't travel insurance cover any sort of situation that would come up?
  10. Gosh I'm so glad my MIL is super easy going. I never even thought to put our parents names on the invite. I'm in the same boat, with divorced parents and my step dad would feel left out if I didn't put his name on there...but he's not my dad ya know? So we aren't putting any parents names on it. Good luck though. i think your wording sounds good though.
  11. Those look great, I can tell a lot of hours went into working on those and getting them put together. Well done.
  12. I agree with the others! If she does send you an invite, send back the RSVP politely declining...You said you live in different states so you could even write a small note explaining that there is not really any travel options for you right now since you are going away for your wedding. Send a congrats card and be done with it. And don't feel like you have to invite her to yours. If I invited every long lost cousin that found me on Facebook, I would be buying dinner for a ton more people and get to spend way less time with the people I actually want to spend time with! Good luck, but just play it cool!
  13. I think if I wasn't having an AHR, I would feel a little awkward about having a shower. But I am, and buying dinner for 150 of my closest friends and relatives so yeah, I'm kinda in the boat where, I think I have been attending friends baby/wedding/housewarming etc for years! Just because I am exchanging vows in a "different" way than everyone else in my family doesn't mean I don't deserve the rest of the festivities.
  14. This is a tough situation. But, I agree that if your friends are good friends, they can understand that your FI changed his mind and you are going to have a few more friends. We had this discussion yesterday and I said that even numbers were important to me. But thats just me!
  15. That second one is beautiful. I think its the sparkles that are jumping out at me!
  16. Those earrings are stunning! So classic. I am a klutz too, so I think I will be flip flopping it!
  17. Very nice ring! It's funny how some guys don't care about stuff like the ring, but some REALLY do! I didn't figure my guy would be so particular but he has proven to be pretty picky in this dept. Hoping to find something that we both like soon!
  18. Just yesterday my FI and I were talking about the wedding attire and he admitted he was a little nervous about buying from an online shop in India. In all honesty, I would be too, but seeing all the happy customers and great reviews made me more at ease about it. I told him that there are 30 pages of honest brides talking about this vendor so it will be fine!!! (Personally I think he is just trying to get outta wearing a suit!)
  19. Welcome to the best destination wedding information station! You will find loads of info here and a lot of nice girls!!
  20. Wow, I know this thread is a couple years old but I just had to comment on those beautiful photos. Elizabeth, you're an artist!!! And those flower girls are just gorgeous....the camera loves them.
  21. Everyone has good taste! I was designing my invites the other day and was playing around with colours and used turquoise, fuschia, and red and LOVED the way they looked together and decided that would be my colour scheme. My bridesmaids are wearing red dresses.
  22. Thanks, I am going to check out these websites as well. Above and beyond the travel costs, what is a reasonable rate to expect to pay a photographer? Anyone have any ideas? I want all day/night of wedding day and reception, a TTD shoot and all edited photos on DVD in high resolution. I will look after the prints myself.
  23. Thanks for all this info on SLS. We just got back some quotes from our TA and SLS was right in our budget and the "kids" rate is for up to age 14 which is nice because the two oldest kids in our group will be 13 and 14, so only have to pay for airfare and they get the free stay. I am going to search around on here for more wedding reviews on here but so far I have heard great things.
