  1. Those are cute. I need to scope out Dollarama more often...I need to spread out my wedding purchases so they don't all need to be paid for at once!
  2. That is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!!! How creative!
  3. Jennifer I just looked at your thread and your boarding passes turned out beautiful. The sheen on the paper is perfect! Which colour did you use? And also, did you print them on an at-home printer or did you have them professionally printed on a laser? I am hoping to just print them at home but the descpription of that paper says it might not be suitable for at home printing...Thanks!
  4. This is good information. I think I am going to go with a metallic pearl or white cardstock for my actual passes. And the same for the ticket jackets, just a different colour.
  5. I am also getting married in Cuba and am trying very hard to keep the prices around or under $1200 per person. A couple people have already mentioned that its so much cheaper to go last minute, but it's not something you can compare! How many people are you expecting in your group? Maybe you could have a little talk with them and see what everyone feels comfortable paying?
  6. Those turned out beautiful! I bet you are very excited to have them in your hands.
  7. I wanted to just make a suggestion. I was wondering if it would be possible to have a section of the Buy/Sell forum just for Canadians? Dealing with customs and exchange rates and shipping from the states is a pain sometimes and I just thought if there was a section for Canadians we could more easily find and deal with each other? This is just a suggestion.
  8. That is a beautiful dress! I was looking at those Disney dresses when I first started my search. It would be great for a beach wedding. Way out of my budget though, but good luck. Im sure you will get a buyer for it.
  9. I have a 20 month old daughter and speaking as if I was going to be a guest at a destination wedding...I would be thrilled to leave her with Grandma for the week and enjoy a holiday without her! So I have to agree with the above posters who say it's all or nothing. If you invite some, then you *should* be open to others bringing their children as well. (As much as I would prefer to have an adults only wedding myself!! With us having kids of our own, its kinda impossible!)
  10. I just noticed that the above vendor is from Delaware and probably won't be able to travel to Cuba!
  11. My FI has two children from a previous marriage, a boy and a girl and we have a 20 month old daughter together. All of them will be in the wedding somehow. The 8 year old boy will be a ring bearer and the two girls will be flower girls. I am also pregnant and the baby will be 7 months old by the time our wedding rolls around and he/she will be included as well (probably carried down the aisle by the oldest and then given to my Mom to hold onto during the ceremony. As for looking back at the pictures years from now and wondering about being married after being born....times have changed! I don't even think it will be an issue!
  12. Oh and Stephanie nailed it right on the head when she said that the kids will always come first!!!! It's hard for us "women of the house" to deal with but it is so true. Everytime we ever have an issue and it involves his kids, he is very quick to stick up for them/side with them or whatever. Sometimes (and I feel so guilty for even saying this!) but sometimes I really wish I just fell in love with someone who did not have children or an ex wife for that matter. The whole idea of a nuclear family living in a house where all the income that comes into the house stays in the house is such a nice idea isn't it? It's just not who I fell in love with but I do think about it sometime...(guilt guilt guilt!) And I do love his kids very much! I just wish all of our children were "ours" ya know? Good luck though, being a step parent is not easy.
  13. Aww aren't blended families and all the dynamics that go along with them fantastic? My FI had two young children before we got together, who are now 8 and 4. They do not live with us full time, only spend every other weekend with us. My FI pays (A LOT!) of child support to his ex-wife. BUT that is because they do not live with us. If they did, she would be paying us support. When you say that there are issues with support because they have another child...that confuses me. Does that mean your FI has two children with her? Or does his ex have another child with someone else? If your FI has two children with her and one will be living with her and one will be living with you, that "should" cancel the supports out. If she has another child with another man, that has should have no bearing on what your FI pays for support either, because it is not his child. We have a 2 year old together and once we had her, our bills went up, his income did not and his support stayed the same. Which sucks, but it's the law. Anyway, maybe just clarify what you mean so I am not so easily confused! As for her wanting to move in, how does your FI feel about this? I do understand you wanting him to yourself for a little while, but he might be really excited about the idea of his daughter coming to live with you!
  14. Those look great. You should be proud of yourself. Doing invitations as a DIY takes a lot of work (especially for the not so crafty like you say you are!) Guests will be thrilled to recieve them.
  15. This is your DH's mom? I would leave it up to him to tell her! It's your wedding and you deserve to have the cake that you and your DH want and love.
  16. As I was watching it, I was thinking "this is too much like Ed!!" So funny that everyone else is thinking the same thing! I just don't want him to end up with Vienna. All the other girls seem like nice ladies.
  17. Darn VistaPrint must have been losing money on all their free stuff because there is not too much for free now! It's all a certain % off! Maybe by the time I am ready to do some stuff for my wedding they will have some free specials again!
  18. Which BDW agent is in Canada? Anyone know? Or how to get in touch with her?
  19. Thanks guys! I think I will just take your advice and talk to the agents that have been referred to me. Do I let them know that I am shopping around or not? I guess it's no different than several different builders giving you a quote for a job and then you get to decide who you are going to hire. I will see how I click with each agent and go from there! Thanks!!
  20. Ali should have stayed....I mean, I know a job is important but don't jobs come and go?? If she really loved him and was sure that he loved her, she would have stayed. Tenley's hometown date made me a little sick. I mean, have you ever seen so many people crying on a hometown date? I thought it was a bit much and put on for the cameras in my opinion. I like GIA the best...she is genuine, down to earth and beautiful.
  21. Does the WC at the resort speak English? I know that some of them don't speak much or it is very broken. Is the stuff you are asking stff you need to know right away? If it is, then you might want to see about emailing a manager at the resort and see if they get back to you any sooner. If it is stuff that can wait until you get there, write it all down so you don't forget what it is that you want to ask! Good luck! But keep in mind that DW are supposed to not be as high stress as regular weddings! Breathe.....
  22. I don't really know how to feel about this, But I am starting to feel uneasy about it. I have never used a travel agent before, I always just found good deals for travel on the internet. But I realize that I need to use an agent for our destination wedding because of the large group involved. So that's fine. I found a lady that I really liked but I haven't actually done anything with her yet because it was too soon to really start planning when I met with her. She answered a few basic questions and that was it. Then my parents said that I should go talk to their agent, so I did and she took a list of resorts I was interested in and she sent me an email not long ago with prices of all of them. A friend of mine, who lives on the other side of the country, used to be a DW travel agent and is just getting back into it and basically hinted in an online chat that "I better use her as the agent!!" She is going through some financial troubles right now, so I know she could use a nice commission. And then just last night I got a message from my FI's sisters husband telling me how great HIS agent is! I dont know if people are steering me in the directions of their agents, so that maybe THEY will get a good discount on their trip for giving them such a big referral? Because I kinda feel like if anyone should get a discount (like the free ticket with a group of over 20) it should be my FI and I since we are the ones planning the wedding! We plan on using that free ticket (if we qualify for it) for our photographer. Does anyone know if these people are just trying to be nice or do you think there is "something in it for them" if they send such a big group the agents way? I really don't think it's nice to waste a travel agents time because we can only book with one right? But at the same time, I am curious about who can get us the best rate!
  23. We were researching both of those resorts as well! We haven't made a final decision though, but we are leaning towards Sirenis La Salina now. Im sure what ever place you choose will be the place you were meant to get married!
  24. I think you must just be on the wrong section of the website. Maybe you are on just the pants section. The suits come with pants and a jacket and an optional vest.
