  1. Hey Ladies, I'm so sad and angry I just don't know what to do. I bought my dress through a local bridal shop and I was waiting for the dress to arrive in September. (My wedding is in November) The dress is fully paid for. Today the owner of the bridal shop called me to tell me the factory that was making my dress closed down and I can no longer get the dress I bought. I"m so sad, the dress was amazing!! I felt so beautiful. The owner of the bridal shop said that I could have the sample dress off the rack and she would pay for the alterations.(it was a size too big but now that I've lost 20lbs, I think it is 2 sizes too big) She made no offer to give it to me at a discount. I was in too much shock to further discuss the options with her over the phone so I have a meeting with her later. What should I do? Do I ask for discount on the dress and hope the alterations are acceptable or do I attempt to go shopping for a new dress?? I'm just sad that it had to happen. I really loved that dress.
  2. We waited too. I personally told the people closest to us and asked them no to say anything UNTIL they saw it on Facebook. This worked really well. Once we spoke to the necessary people we proceeded with the Facebook update and all those who already knew used that as a queue to share the news with people not on Facebook.
  3. Congratulations and thank you for the detailed review.
  4. JesseLynn, you have the right attitude. I'm nervous but I'm not going to let it stress me out. I have enough stuff to worry about. Your review will be much anticipated. I wish you a beautiful and happy wedding and look forward to reading your review when you return married. Good Luck!!
  5. Wow girls, thank you so much for this! I really appreciate it but I'm super concerned about my wedding now. It isn't until November so I pray that this Tina Dunbar can get everything in order and know her job by the time I get there. I'm seriously worried and I do not appreciate a company that stands behind the excuse of "policy" at the expense of the customer. The way that situation was handled is SOOOO not cool!!!
  6. Yes, I have it confirmed by the WC that you can scan the documents and email them then bring them with you with you go.
  7. I started planning about 1.5 years in advance of our wedding. There are pros & cons to starting as early as you are planning. Cons... don't look at prices yet. They are likely to go up but as long as you're not looking at them now then you won't know by how much they've gone up and then feel discouraged. I'd wait until about a year or so before the wedding before really talking numbers. Also, you'll have so many great ideas that it might be frustrating to sit on your hands because there is only so much you can do until a year - 6 months before the wedding. Pros... you have lots of time to really learn what you want for your special day. You have time to think to think about the different elements that will add personal touches to your day and the more you plan & organize ahead of time the less stress you'll feel just before the wedding. There will ALWAYS be stress just before the wedding but nothing like if you left everything until the last minute. You have time on your side so you can really make the most of it. Congratulations on the engagement and happy planning. You've come the right resort to get lots of ideas.
  8. We're having about 20 people to our wedding and currently I have the Seagrape booked for a private reception after dinner. However, the closer I get and more we consider how we want our day to go, the more I'm thinking about foregoing the private reception. A friend is putting on a reception for us when we return and it will include the dancing and whatnot, so I don't think I really need 2 receptions.
  9. I think once you get to 50 people though you can no longer have the semi-private dinner that's included. 50+ people means you need to pay for the dinner which I think is $55.00 per person. This is most likely because a group of 50 or more won't fit into the area they have reserved for the semi-private dinners plus they need more staff to take care of the larger group. But if you keep it under the 50 you should be fine with the free package.
  10. great job!! That's a fantastic story to tell for years to come. Congrats! (beautiful picture too!)

    Hello!

Congrats! Welcome to the forum, you'll get tons of information here!
  17. Thanks Marie for answering my question about the Ipod. It's been something we have been considering and I just wanted to know what I was getting into. I also appreciate the advice about not worrying. I keep telling myself that. A lot of past brides share some good advice from lessons learned on this forum and I find myself trying to take notes on all of them.. how crazy is that... I'm actually trying to plan for EVERYTHING that could go wrong.. how silly.. so I'm trying to chill and found your advice helpful. (your review too!) You're right, you plan this wedding for so long that I'm not sure what I'll do with my time when this is all done. LOL
  18. If your girls all agree on a dress and you love them too.. then go with it - and really, it sounds like they would be gorgeous.. I won't let any table linens get in the way of having the dresses you all love - especially when you consider how many pictures the girls dresses are going to be in vs. your linens. I'm with the others on this forum, I love the idea to use white and then add colour with accessories or add in another accent colour that will let you match with linens. As for me, my colours are aqua and chocolate brown with some ivory accents. My girls dresses are chocolate brown and the jewelery will be custom made with the aqua colour included. I'm going for an elegant yet simple theme.
  19. I thought I would bump this thread in hopes there is someone out there who can answer this. I have guests who are wondering the same thing.
  20. That is beautiful! There is no way I could afford that but it IS amazing!!
  21. great review, Marie!! Looks like you had an amazing time! Congrats!! Question for you, you mentioned you brought the iPod for your reception, where did you plug in the docking station?
  22. Thanks Marie, and welcome back. Can't wait to read your review.
  23. great review. Thank you for so much detail. I've been iffy on Michael but I'm glad that your pictures turned out so nicely. That's awesome.
  24. Garden Gazebo at Riu Ocho Rios. Chose the garden because it will have less wind and I don't want to see any topless sun bathers that might be on the beach.
