  1. Wow, hello to all the new brides on here, lovely to hear from you all! I so sympathise with you in choosing your dream wedding hotel. My friend, FI and i researched for months before deciding. It literally sent me loopy! We have settled on Barcelo Maya Palace! It just has a lovely look to it. We also like that it is 5 hotels on one site so our guests have a cheaper option should they wish to spend a little less. The reviews are really good to. I love the gazebo there. We keep looking on their website at the 360 tours and are so happy that we have definately made the right choice for us! I just want to go NOW!!! lol Linhy - love your website. It's so sweet what a good idea. I wouldn't have the first clue how to do that. Very clever! Nicyx - well done you. I like no 3 the best! x
  2. Kurlyks - that dress is stunning, love it! I've gone for Ambrosia. I know it's a big dress but i'm in love with it and i'm hoping as i'll wear a hoop with it i will have a little room for breeze ha ha ;o) Good luck Nicyx with your creative side today ) I love a bit of DIY. I made our engagement party invites and loved doing them! I was looking at wedding table etiquette yesterday. M.I.L is not gonna like the fact she is not sitting next to her son! opps!
  3. Nicyx loving the necklace idea, plain and simple but elegant. You will look gorgeous! With your Maggie dress you will knock FI for six! I haven't thought about accessories to much. I like the idea of a flower in my hair but need to look into that more )
  4. Thanks Bikegirl, i've been on here ages trying to work it out ha ha. Thanks for all your help girls xx
  5. lol, think i've worked it out.... Lovely idea about the necklace, plain and simple and elegant. You will look gorgeous! I haven't thought about accessories. I'm liking the idea of a flower in my hair but need to look around. I'll look forward to seeing what else you make
  6. Yay! I've managed to upload my profile picture, thanks so much Nicyx. Don't know about adding others but this is a start, thanks for the link! ) Ha ha know how you feel. I work from home and i'm always popping on here, lol. Those sandals are sooooo cute. I love them. Very clever! Well done you! I'm defo gonna have a try at doing some when i have time to pop to Hobbycraft! So pretty! Us long awaited brides are soooooooo excited, I can't wait to see the kids all done up in their outfits ) Hay GemBall, love Dreams Cancun, are you marrying at their Gazebo? Beautiful.....Congrats!
  7. Hi girls, I'm lucky as FI likes pink and it suits him to. My BM (sis) is not a big fan but i am letting her have a big say in the shade of pink and the style of dress. We haven't picked this yet as she wants so loose some weight before she trys anything on. Also i'm waiting to see if my best friend can make it and if so i'm going to ask her to be a BM too ). Scarlett is 2.5yrs now so she'll be nearly 4 when we go. A lovely age! My son is going to be second best man to FI. Harrison will be 13yrs when we go, so a gorgeous young man! Your prob all wondering why we didnt marry sooner and to cut a long storey short. We got engaged 5yrs ago. Brought a house that needed alot of doing up so spent yr's and money on that and then as we were planning our wedding for 2008. Scarlett came along! So you can imagine i'm way past excited at the thought of it actually happening now! Yippiee!!! Aqua is beautiful, with the sun, sand and sea it will look gorgeous! I like Aqua but anyone who knows me knows it's gotta be pink, lol. I'm very girlie! Bikegirl, pink and grey sounds lush. FI hasn't decided what he's wearing yet he may just go with white shirt and a pink boutonnier (sorry if spellings wrong) Arr Nicy it's a shame your sis wont be there - i will keep everything crossed that this changes for you! I know what it's like. My dad doesn't fly to well so there was a point in which we thought he wouldn't come. But he is and I'm so glad! Can't wait to see your barefoot sandals. I might also have a go, hee hee! How do you upload your pictures? I've uploaded a profile piccie but it's not showing up? Also how do you put your picture with your signature? Chat later girlies! x
  8. Yah dress shopping! I love it. Nicy your dress is lovely! I love Maggie dresses. I just knew i was going to get one of her designs! I love the barefoot sandal idea. We're getting married at the gazebo of our hotel so i'm going for a diamonte sandal. With a heel (fiance is 6' 3" so dont wanna look tiny next to him, lol) Then i may get some barefoot sandals for the beach photos! My dress is diamond white (which is more ivory than white) and my colour is pink. I am pink mad! My daughter Scarlett will wear the same colour as me and my maid of honor (big sis) will be in pink! We have 22 coming so far. I'm not doing save the dates as we know who is coming already. But will send out some nice invites to the reception back home! Welcome rosieposie and i know how you feel, not booking it makes it feel less real but the time will fly and soon we'll all be booked up! Congrats brides. Love this forum!! x
  9. Hello, ok my friend got back to me regarding the birth certs. Yes you have to have apostiles attached to your birth certs. They got it done at the foreign and commonwealth office if you go on their website it has all the info on there. It's £28 and then postage. You also have to have one attached to your marriage certificate once you are married so it is legal in this country. My friend had to wait 5months after her wedding date for this to come through. Hope this is helpful. I haven't looked to much into the legal side and documents needed so that's something i'm going to have to do! x
  10. Hi ya Nicy i have a full birth certificate and yes it does state fathers occupation. I don't know if you need it on there though. I haven't heard anything about them being apostilled. My friend got married in Mexico in September so i will ask her and let you know what she says! x
  11. FutureMrsYak - it is so frustrating this waiting and not being able to hold the date or book our holiday! We have 435 days till our wedding. Not that i'm counting or anything hee hee! I really hope the flight prices come out soon. I've been told anytime between now and April time, for next May (..... Nicy - thanks hun, I love it! I keep looking at the picture of it lol... Gemmalou - our friends visited Moon Palace a while ago and said it is lovely there. I'm sure you wont be disappointed! Our plumber went to Dreams Tulum last year and said he would highly reccommend it. He said it was more a 6* than 5. Him and his wife loved it there. We did look at this hotel but the longer transfer put us off a little. Especially coming from the UK on a long flight. For anyone else looking at other hotels, my friend got married in Sept 09 at the Iberostar Maya and absolutely loved it. She didn't have one complaint, so that's a good hotel too! We looked at sooooo many hotels before finally decided so i sympathise with those still on the hunt for their perfect hotel. It's so hard they are all lush!! gingerlover36 - The Barcelo has 5 hotels onsite (Palace being the deluxe one) and i've heard they have 2-3 weddings a day depending on time of year. But the complex is hugh so i think they spread them out. I have emailed a few questions to the WC but had no reply as yet....
  12. Future Mrs Yuk - you are so lucky being able to hold the date!! I have been in contact with the WC at our hotel (very slow responses i may add) and they have told me they can hold the date for 2months but in that time they need our conformation of booking our holiday. As flights arn't out yet we can't book our holiday and haven't got a clue when they will be out we can't 'hold our date'. It's so frustrating! Gingerlover36 - Azul Sensatori is lovely. We also looked at this hotel. The reviews on tripadvisor are not so great. But go with your heart. People love to moan. Please dont let it put you off. We drove ourselves crazy reading reviews and in the end we decided to not worry to much about the reviews and go with what feels right! I'm sure your find the perfect hotel! Nicola - I went with 'Ambrosia'. I love it. There was a promotion on the weekend i went on the Maggie 2010 range and i got 15% off to! Whoop!! All her dresses are lovely. I tried on a few different styles but i knew Ambrosia was 'the one'. I even carry a photo of it around with me in my purse! lol. I had a peek on the site. Reece and Sterling are beautiful dresses! Let us know how you get on! Sooooo exciting x
  13. Nicola it is so exciting. We looked for months for a hotel and it was hard deciding as they are all so lush! We've got to book ours through Cosmos as they are the only ones i can find that have Barcelo Maya Palace and they said hopefully April the flights will be out! I honestly cannot wait! I also searched the internet for dresses but going in the shop is so lovely. I have a Maggie Sottero dress. All the dresses in her collection are stunning! I can't see the photos you've added but it maybe my laptop as i don't seem to be able to upload my profile photo either....?? Look forward to hearing more 2011 storeys! We are already in Feburary so this year is going fast already girls, 2011 will be here before we know it! Woo Hoo!!
  14. Hi brides, I love this thread! My fiance and I narrowed it down to 3 hotels after alot of research and in the end Barcelo Maya Palace won! We want to book for May 2011 but like alot of you we can't book yet as flight prices arn't out yet (....But we are having a reception when we arrive home in the UK so we're looking into venues for that whilst we're waiting to book Mexico. I also couldn't wait any longer and went dress shopping at the weekend! Whoop whoop. 16months to go i know but i'm so excited! Good luck everyone!
  15. Thank you for letting me know Sandra, such a shame the French Restaurant looks beautiful. I'm so glad the children can eat in all the restaurants, we have 6 coming with us. So very exciting!
  16. Hi Brides, does anyone know if we can have our reception in the French Restaurant? Can anyone tell me which restaurants are adults only? Thanks for your help! Loving your review Sandra, so helpful.
  17. Hello Brides! After looking at so many hotels in Mexico we have decieded Barcelo Maya Palace is the one we wish to book for our wedding. Coming from the UK flight prices arn't out yet (for May 2011) so we have to wait a month or so to book! Are any other brides coming from the UK? We love the look of the gazebo, does anyone know how private it is? Is it near a pool etc? Obviously we are at the start of our planning but soooo excited! Also we'd prefer our reception meal in one of the al a cartes.... is this possible? Many thanks for reading....Michelle x
  18. Hi Christina, thanks for your feed back. I try not to let the reviews get to me too much but do find them interesting to read, especially as we are coming from the Uk and never been to Mexico before. I've mostly been reading tripadvisor and facebook pages. The Palladium resorts all look so nice. And although a way from Cancun quite close to Playa del Carmen if we do want to go off resort. I had an email from Rocio answering some of my questions and she seems so nice. Definately on our short list. The ceremony location is a big thing for me and the gazebos just look so special there. )
  19. Hello Brides I wondered if any of you could help me... My fiance and I are so undecided as to which hotel to book for our wedding. First we liked Azul Beach (but a little on the small side) then Azul Sensatori (put off by reviews) and more recent the new Dreams Riviera Cancun. The privacy issue there is a big part to us not booking. So now we are looking at the Grand Palladiums. We have children of 12yrs and 2yrs who don't use the kids clubs really so wondered which Palladium would suit us best? We love the look of the ocean gazebo. Beautiful! Also can anyone tell me how long the transfer is from the airport? Our broucher says 2hrs which we thought might be a bit much after travelling from the UK. Any help would be appreciated as we are so up in the air about the hotels and just want to get booked up. Many thanks Michelle
  20. Hi Ladies I heard back today from Ana regarding the decoration of the beach set up so thought i'd let you know what she said.......(copy and pasted from email) Dear Michelle, Thank you for your kind e-mail!! I would like to inform you that I check the picture, and there is an additional chage for the chair ribbons and flowers on the arch, ad well for the drapery in white and orange color. Cost is as follow: $ 3 USD per chair ribbon. $ 180 USD for the flowers on the arch. $ 100 USD for the drapery in white and orange color. Best Regards I hope this is some help to some of you wanting flowers and coloured fabric instead of just the white as in many pictures. Tara, i am sorry you have changed your mind on the resort, It is so upsetting but i am myself in two minds now as to book DRC. After seeing some site visit pictures and reading a few reviews it has put me off. I am gutted. My fiance and I love the resort but cannot get excited about holding our wedding there because of the privacy issue. We are expecting some onlookers but not to the extent of DRC..... We do like the look of Grand Palladium Riviera which has two pretty white Gazebos, one garden and one ocean. So that's a possiblity. We are still undecided (
  21. Thanks for the photos SDbeachgirl. They are great. Gives everybody a good chance to see the resort. I love the facebook page. Great for gathering info! I go on there daily lol. I heard back from Ana today regarding the decoration of the beach ceremony set up although she has misunderstood my question as she sent me the legal requirements?? So i've emailed her again today attaching a picture this time so she can see what i mean. I'll let you know what she says.... Looking at the pictures it doesn't look like the beach or the gazebo have much privacy at all. The covered terrace for if it rains looks the most private and quite pretty too.... Have a great weekend everyone
  22. Oh thanks for the info. I will email Ana and let you know what she says.... I don't mind waiting a bit for a table and when your on your holidays everyone is laid back anyway but when i read reviews on ppl waiting hours i thought that was a bit much. Just shows you, you can't go by everything you read. But thank you for letting me know about your experience, it's nice talking to someone that has been there. )
  23. Hi Brides, has anyone got the email address for Ana? We are looking at this resort for our wedding and hoping for the beach set up for the ceremony. I wanted to ask her if you can have flowers and maybe a different colour fabric for the decoration rather than just the plain white. I have seen it at other resorts and just makes it look a little prettier! Also i have a worry about not being able to make reservations at the restaurants. I would hate for my family and friends to wait hours for their evening meal. 30 - 45mins is ok but i have read bad reviews on this, anyone else have the same worry??
  24. Hi, my partner and I are planning to marry in Mexico in May 2011 and have two hotels we like, Azul Sensatori and Dreams Riviera Cancun. The Dreams resort looks lovely and we are leaning towards this one. Our UK travel agents have said we can't book until April 2010 so any info and advise about a Dreams wedding would be great! [email protected] We are not to keen on the gazebo so are thinking a beach wedding would suit us more. Can't wait to see more photos!
