Thanks ladies...I'm excited and overwhelmed. I've never been great with events planning...I'm always the one who'll just pay someone to get stuff going for me, but this is one of the biggest days of my life and I just want it to be perfect!!

Our reception will be held in the cocktail room of the venue, which seats about 100-125 guests. We are only having 80 people total. We couldn't use the ballroom because it seats 250 and we would look lost in there. So, because we are in the cocktail room (which is still huge) the tables are smaller and seat anywhere from 2-6 people at each. Because there are so many tables, we aren't doing table numbers and place cards. Does that seem weird? Also, we are doing our group pics before the ceremony, and just the 2 of us after. We were going to be announced in halfway through the cocktail hour so we don't miss it (its my favorite part of a wedding!) We are not having the bridal party announced since they will already be in the room. We are also not doing a "first dance" because we are awful dancers, and don't like the idea of everyone watching us looking silly. We are not doing any toasts or speeches or the garter and bouquet toss. Are people going to think my wedding sucks? We basically want a big fun party, minus any traditional wedding stuff. If you went to a wedding like this, would you be disappointed? It's your day...you're entitled to do what makes you fell happy!!

It ends with a VIP list of important people like members of the family and the bridal party so that the photographer and coordinator will know who the VIP people are. Hope this can help someone else! Excellent! -- thanks!

Since it's still 10 months away, I just want to be prepared as i'm starting to put down deposits etc. Thanks in advance. Forgive me for my ignorance...what's wedding insurance -- and who sells it?
  5. My fiance and I will be married in a private civil union some time late next month here in MD -- haven't chosen that date yet. We are having our "real wedding" April 2011...my questions are... Should we exchange rings next month or 2011? Also, since we'll already be married will our Jamaica wedding be just a symbolic ceremony or is it renewal of vows? I'm sure there are more to follow, but those are the tops on for now.... Thanks in advance!

I am suppose to be 34 days away from the big day and just got blindsided again by my travel company. Let me give you some back ground info first. I booked back in May for my wedding in November. I went with Nolitours because my agent highly recommended them and said the were a real reputable company. I have since had to deal with a $50 increase/adult. I was suppose to fly out on a Wednesday and then all those flights were cancelled and we were bumped to Thursday. I was told I had the option of flying in the morning or evening. I chose morning. That flight was then cancelled and we were bumped to the evening flight which was also cancelled! Now they say we are suppose to be flying out on the Friday night. I am trying to co-ordinate the wedding so that people from several countries will be arriving generally the same time. Now My FI's daughter will be there 4 days before us! Everyone from Europe will be there before us also. I wanted to get there early so that I could make all the final arrangements before everyone was there so that I could enjoy the time with them. They have offered no incentives or anything of any kind because of all the inconviences. My FI told them we were contacting our lawyer, as at that time they told me I had no options, but to comply. Since the manager has left a message saying that I am entitled to a full refund because there was a greater than 24hr flight change. There have also been several other minor screw ups along the way. But this date thing is the most stressful. They have also offered to switch me to Signature tours. Should I switch with them, or get my money back and get a new agent fast! I have eerything ready to go. Everything printed, bought, I just need to pack! Quit while you're ahead...and try to find another co. fast!
