Hi I agree with most of what everyone else is saying. Get a travel agent no matter what. I was confused like you when I started and then after meeting with our travel agent it got better, but they have books for places that specialize in weddings and alot of them come with a free wedding if you have less than or around 10 guests. then you need to figure out your dream country to be married in, have your list of what you really want for your day, and go from there. Once you figure that out and then get it booked you will feel so much better.

Congrats! that is really lovely and sweet. So happy for the two of you. Dont really know to much about those places personally but you have come to the right forum. There is excellent advise and ideas here.

What are your guests throwing at the wedding?
loua4 replied to bosi's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hi, I havent actually thought of that aspect of our wedding. I love the suggestions though. I may think about using the bubbles. I have seen it in pictures and it is beautiful. -
Which type of IPod are you using?
loua4 replied to cali2010's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Hi my FI and I are going the same route. We are going to purchase a16g iPod touch this boxing day and setup all the music we want to listen to. One thing you have to remember is most places dont have current music, so you will have to dance to the same old stuff. With the ipod you can create your own playlists for each section of your wedding. We are hoping we dont have to worry about it getting stolen. Plus it is money going into your wedding that you get to keep. which you dont if you purchase a dj or band. Good luck with choosing one! -
Congrats! unfortunatly I dont not know anything about mexico, but this is the place. There are a bunch of wonderful people here that you can get info from. Enjoy your engagement and the planning.

2010 Brides
loua4 replied to leogurl's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hi everyone! This is a great idea. My fiance and I got engaged in october right after our thanksgiving in canada. We are getting married at the Riu palace on Paradise Island Bahamas. Our date is Nov 27th/10 at 2pm on the beach. We were very lucky that the resort had pricing already. We still dont know when we fly out because the airline is not set up for that until the spring but I am hoping to fly out in the morning so that we can be there in the afternoon Our save the dates just went out. so far there is just the people who were generous enough to place thier deposits for the booking so no one has invited themselves. I would hope that they wont if they have not recieved a s.t.d. We did have to tell my brother that we did not want his girlfriend there though. He hasnt told her yet and she is coming to christmas. so that could be scary! I agree with woodslylou, if someone invited themselves, I would say they can watch the ceremony but they will not be going to my reception. I have a tight budget too, and most packages come with a set amount of guests. so if there is no room they will have to meet up with those invited later. sometimes you have to be mean. it sucks though. good luck! -
That is so gross! I would definatly call the builder and complain. I knew that they urinated in houses but to have bowel movements is worse. They are to gross! i am so sorry about what they did to your house.

Hi TA Maureen, Thanks for the post. I know what the Royal package includes, what I dont understand is the pdf that was emailed to me. The things in the royal package are in the pdf. So that means I get those but without the extra cost right? but what I am having a hard time with is not knowing what the decor is, and all the other little details. And I am not impressed with the photographers website and the pictures that is shown on the website, so I have some questions about that. So I guess I am kinda freaking out, because I am not the type that can wait. I like to be totally organized all the time. I just wish the planner would email me back. So I am wondering what all the other Riu brides did to handle that. Do you have any suggestions?
-
Hi everyone, My name is Amanda, and my fiance and I just booked our wedding with The Riu Palace Paradise Island in Bahamas last month. How are you ladies handling the fact that you wont hear from your wedding planner until 2 months before? I recieved the "Additional Costs" pdf but I dont understand it. The wedding package we are going with is the Royal wedding, but what does that include? I have emailed the planner assigned to my wedding twice and have not recieved an email back. I do not want to wait up to 2 months before our wedding to find out what we actually get. What did you guys do? Thanks! Amanda

What are your wedding colors / wedding theme?
loua4 replied to lalanyc's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We are going with shades of brown to symbolize the sand, with maybe pops of blue for the water. I like the bright colour ideas though. But I am not that bold. Good luck!
