  6. Hi Kendra, congrats and welcome to the forum! A destination wedding can be a lot of stress too, but it depends what kind of wedding you have in mind! As for the family and friends, I'd speak to the really important ones to get a feel on their take on it. Expect some excitement and some objections - it can be a lot more costly for them to attend! Good luck!

    I'm engaged!

Hi Meitra, congrats and welcome to the forum!!!
  12. Wow, that really sucks. It's such an outlandish request though that it's kinda funny! I agree with the other girls that there has to be a deeper issue here, and blaming the date is just easier that speaking what is really bothering her. The fact is, she needs to deal with the fact that you're marrying this man be it in 2 or 5 years, so she has to get used to the idea! Good luck, hang in there!
  13. Hi Sheri, welcome! Both places are incredible. After quickly looking at Las Caletas (only found out about it after signing the contract) it looks like it might end up cheaper, but it really depends on how you want to set things up and what hotel you choose, etc. Either way, you can't go wrong! As for PF, they do have a minimum # of nights that you need to book, so if you were mostly set on using Dreams you might be better off combining it with Las Caletas. The nice thing about PF though is that once you book there it covers everything - your hotel, the food, the wedding, the reception, etc. And it's a small resort, so it's very intimate. Jessica - even with the $250 slideshow an outside photographer may be cheaper. Tthe photographers associated with the resort are fantastic though, so you really can't go wrong with using any of them! As for the DJ, I'm not sure if you have to pay for it if you are using a band for the whole night. There should be the costs for the bands in the worksheet that you should have received - or where you thinking of using an outside band? And for the coordinator fee, I haven't even started with all of the big part of the planning yet, but I feel that Blaire has already earn her $$$!!!
  14. Wow. That's pretty much all that I can say... this is my idea of the worse thing ever happening on my wedding, right after FI not showing up or saying no. I am so terribly sorry that this happened to you and that you are still having to deal with it. You could always have a vow renewal in a few years, wear that Amsale dress again (that's the first dress that I tried on, and it made me cry - it was *the* dress but I couldn't afford it) and get proper pictures! I have a friend who got married in Rome and is seriously thinking of doing that just to do it "right" this time around. Regardless, you do have some pictures that you can use! And you looked gorgeous, and you two said yes, so that's what really matters! Best of luck, and hang in there!
  15. Andi, great thread! Love all of the details. Your TTD photos, by the way, are out of this world!!!! I also wish that I had known about Las Caletas earlier on... and now about your photographer
  16. Sorry to hear that you had such trouble with the invites, but they look fantastic in the photo! Lots of great ideas in here, thank you for sharing! And I agree with the ladies out there, the honesty really makes your planning thread that much more awesome!
  17. OMG, 9 years Just do it! I think that at this points it just has to feel like a huge deal instead of something fun and exciting. You obviously love this person and what to be with them, so on top of writing down your priorities for your wedding, perhaps you should write down what you think causes you to react that way to the idea of planning this wedding. What is causing you to panic? What feels so overwhelming? What would make it feel easier? You can always ask for help if that is what you need, or share what needs to be shared, or simplify anything that needs to be simplified. As for your sister, you should thank her for her input, having taken the time to do so much research and for trying to help you. You say thank you to that, let her know that you hear her concerns, but let her know that this is your wedding and that this is something that your man-to-be and you have chosen to do and hold close to your heart. All that you can hope is that she will understand. With DW, there will always be people who think that it is too expensive, too complicated, too this or that. Try not to let it get to you. I know it's hard, but you waited this long for this, so make the most of it!
  18. Meagan is right - the difference is in whether he is inviting people to your wedding or just to a vacation. If he is inviting them to your actual wedding though, that it inconsiderate! Best of luck and hang in there, these kinds of things happen! FMIL keeps sending me addresses of people I don't know to invite, so I guess it's one giant boat and we're all in it!
  19. Oh wow, my post is super behind! Vanessa & Steve, you made a great decision, your photos are awesome!
  20. I agree with Tammy, ask to see a full album - this way you'll get a much better idea of what the full coverage looks like and might answer a lot of your questions. Sol is great, but you can't compare the best wedding photographer in the world with anyone else - it's just not the same thing and you're bound to be disappointed with something. There are other great photographers out there though, who may be more affordable for you. Look around and ask questions! I had also looked at Elizabeth Medina, who is fantastic and located in the same area as Sol, you might want to check her out! Elizabeth Medina Photography, Mexico Destination Wedding Photographer, Wedding Photojournalism throughout the Riviera Maya, Yucatan and Mexico Good luck with everything - I'm in the process of choosing my photographer as well and am having such a hard time making up my mind!
  21. Thanks Sam! I've narrowed it down between her and a photographer from Vancouver and I'm having such a hard time deciding! This is the most important thing for me so I want to be 110% sure of my decision. I know though that since both photographers are awesome, that I'll be extremely happy but still, it's driving me nuts! I keep saying that I hope to make up my mind by week's end, but I think that this time, it's true! I'll have to keep the mini cakes in mind, it's such a great idea!

Bienvenue au forum, et félicitation pour tes fiançailles! Tu penses te marier où?
  23. Fantastic photos! You looked stunning and I agree, it was worth the wait! I can't believe that you were able to get peonies and hydrangea, stunning!
  24. I have been to both PV and Cabo and in both cases I did a lot of sightseeing (the local way - walking around, catching a taxi/ferry or taking the local bus). Both places have great sightseeing and tons of options for things to do. I found that the water was more clear in Cabo, but that might have been the time of year. Surf is really strong out in Cabo though, so the beach at your resort may not be good for swimming and so you might need to go out of the resort to swim. Both towns have resort than can be far away from town, so you might need to look into that if it bothers you. Both have a lot of people trying to sell you stuff on the beach and big resorts. Yes, it can rain in PV but it all depends on the month. Some airlines stop to fly to Cabo in the winter because it gets cold there! Hope this helps a little... good luck!
  25. I love your paint colours! Very nice. That Neiman Marcus set is fantastic, too bad it's so hard to get! You could always find a great gray set, and add a few cushion or a throw in orange to add a pop of colour. I t might be easier! I found this blog that might give you some options and good links: Bedding Envy. You can search by colour too. There's a great orange & white set here: Walmart.com: Divatex Diamond 250 Thread Count Duvet Mini Set, Spice: Bedding - you would need to add some gray though to go with it and I'm not sure if it would go with your furniture set too well... Good luck!
