Playa Fiesta Weddings
mlabbe replied to kate.com's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Thanks Ivy! I already had it bookmarked! I'm glad that you decided on the photog, it's a big decision! She does wonderful work, you're in good hands! The clause is the same as in your contract. Adam didn't care as much about the photog contract line than what is stated in the contract, so we got it changed to reflect what they actually cared about (and make it be more realistic - which photog can give a CD of images 1 day after an event?). For anyone who got married at PF before, did you use Lucie? If so, did any of you changed the ceremony wording? We are hoping to change it to have it reflect us a little bit more and were wondering how open to this she is. Thanks! -

Newbie, need help looking for a dress in Toronto

I strongly recommend making an appointment first to avoid having to wait once you get there. They do have some nice things, especially this season! Welcome to the forum and congrats! -

Ivy, what I understood was that you couldn't hire a photographer from Puerto Vallarta, but aside from that there wasn't any restrictions (apart from the additional fee). I would ask them just in case! Michael is the 2nd shooter and so not technically my photographer, and has shot destination weddings before. It could be a loophole! -
Well, everything you like is curly, so at least there is 1 general theme here! All of the long hair ones look somewhat similar, and the updos as well. It looks like you are trying to achieve a sexy, relaxed but chic look - I can't say what would look best on you though, or with your dress and veil. I think that you can't go wrong! You just need to pick if you want your hair up or not, and your hair dresser will do her magic! Good luck!

BC / Vancouver / Canadian brides - help!

She did sound lovely and seemed genuinely sad to be unable to officiate. We did find someone though, and so we will be getting married in our living room on the 23rd of this month. I'm excited! Thank you everyone for your comments & suggestions! -

I wanted to ask, I think you mentioned that you had done research into photographers in the VAncouver/BC area-- do you have any recommendations? We are considering Michelle Turner but photography is one area we are willing to splurge a bit. Thanks for any help! Glad to know that it helped! Geez, I looked at tons of photographers, all over BC and the US! There are so many amazing ones out there. I also found that some were willing to give discounts - I think that the economy crisis was helping the negotiations (desperation for work?). I looked at many people from Vancouver & BC, but not many of them were offering discounts and so I couldn't hire just whomever and still stick to my budget. (By the way, I would have gone with PF's Beth Lloyd had she been available, and that would have made things faster!) Of course I will recommend who is shooting my wedding, Amber Hughes (Vancouver Wedding Photographer | Amber Hughes Photography - Home)! I haven't gotten any photos taken yet, so I'm not speaking from experience but she has been great thus far. She was offering at the time all of her packages at 50% since she is trying to build her destination wedding business - she might still be offering this. In the end I was hesitating between Michelle & Amber and I chose Amber because 1) with the discount, it was still cheaper even with travel cost, 2) I love her work, and 3) she works with a 2nd shooter (turns out my 2nd shooter is BDWF's own Michael Washniack (Vancouver Wedding Photographer | Michael Wachniak). I really liked Michelle's work but I hesitated because I found that most of her best shot were from further away. Just so you know, for about the same cost than that of Michelle Turner (who also offered a discount when asked nicely ), with Amber I am getting: 2 photographers, 4 night hotel, flights, engagement shoot in Vancouver, rehearsal dinner coverage, wedding day coverage and day after shoot. It's worth to look around! My suggestion is to sit down, write a little paragraph about what makes the two special and how you envision your day, and email away to photographers! -

Anyone honeymooning in Thailand, Vietnam, or Cambodia?
mlabbe replied to Emmers's topic in Honeymoon Talk
Oh my, two weeks for all of that? That's really not enough time. You would be spending either all of your time on a train / bus / plane or getting really stresses out. I've been to all three and they are all so different. I spent a month in Vietnam, 2 weeks in Cambodia and a month in Thailand. I would pick just one, the one that goes the most with your personality. To try to sum things up quickly (and things will have changed since I was there): - Thailand has it all. The city, the food, the culture, the rain forest, the mountains, the beaches. It is really easy to get around. You can do quite upscale resort or little villas for still a reasonable price. - Cambodia is really just for Angkor Wat, unless you are willing to *really* travel (get down and dirty). If you go to Angkor, I would suggest staying at the Raffles (or something similar). I did Angkor in 3 days, it was enough. I would fly in from BKK and back - don't even think about driving unless you have 11 hours to kill each way. (You could do Thailand and Angkor in 2 weeks if you are really willing). - Vietnam is incredible for the food. There are some lovely beaches as well, but not as pretty as those of Thailand. It is also easy to get around but is a little more rugged thank Thailand. It really has charm. If it was my honeymoon, I would go with Thailand hands down. I do have to say though that backpacking through all 3 countries, I preferred Vietnam and Cambodia over Thailand, but that was because Thailand seemed too easy for me at the time. I don't know if it would help, but here are my blog posts for each country + photos: Vietnam: vietnam 2005 - a set on Flickr Magalie Travels: All about Vietnam Cambodia: cambodia 2005 - a set on Flickr Magalie Travels: All about Cambodia Thailand: thailand 2005 - a set on Flickr Magalie Travels: All about Thailand Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! -
