Oh Nonnie....how scared you all must have been! Your dad is safe and getting help, so go and have a wonderful time! If you talk to the resort, maybe the WC can help with getting some of your pictures posted so you can send them home right away....and watching the video with him is a wonderful idea. Maybe when you are home you can plan a small at home reception that is smaller, engagement party size, and do your father-daughter dance then. Have the best day you can and then come home and celebrate with your dad some more! Good luck sweetie!

Thanks Keira. That is the only part I am still confused about...I know a couple of people who told me they just left their marriage certificates in Spanish, dropped them off at AMA and voila. Another friend who just got married in the Mayan last year said that they had to get the marriage certified in Mexico and then translated and registered somehow here...it was so much hoopla they decided to do the legal marriage here and vow renewel there. Just getting the whole thing done at once like you are sounds so much easier!

How are you guys going to transport your flowers? I thought about bringing the ones for the mom's along so they could always keep them, but I am worried about crushing them. I know you said they could be scrunched, but for how long before they don't pop back? I supposed it they looked bad when we got there I could still order fresh ones.....

February 2010 brides

TeNeil - I feel bad for you about the ring! Maybe a little pressure from the not very happy bride will get them to move it. We still have not decided on one and with the FI working out of town so much....the process is slow! I want to have it and wear it, but at the rate we are going it is going to be showing up when we leave to get married! Susie..I know this is from a few days ago, but I have been working, so I can read, but not always answer! You said the resort is trying to make you hire a DJ...funny, I am at the same resort and that is what they are telling me too, but I think it was two of the girls on the other thread who just got back....rented speakers for $20/hr and plugged their iPods in. At our same resort! So I sent an email off asking the WC about that and some other price differences...still waiting after almost two weeks. Nada. Maybe if we both stick to our guns and anyone else who is going there we can win this one! Let me know if you hear anything. -

Hello ladies:) Does anyone else find that they love their job, but at this particular point it is getting in the way of socail obligations like being on this thread? So got tons done! MOH dresses here and so are the Flower Girl dresses! Yippee...got a bunch of Christmas shopping done at the big mall....and work work work! Susie - your dress looks so nice. You have nothing to worry about at all! It looks that great and you don't have your hair/makeup done...and of course the amazing sun and ocean there as well! You are going to look spectacular! Jammies1234 - When I told our photographer the wedding was at 3pm, she said that should work....and when I told her we had a couple hours for photos because dinner was at 6...she told me the sun would be down shortly after 5pm...we might make it till 520pm. Don't know if that helps, but since she lives there, thought I would pass along her comments. FutureMrGoodRich...I had a hard time loading photos too. One of the girls on another thread told me how. Create a free account in Photobucket online and then you upload the photos on there. Then on the bottom there is a IM address...copy that address and paste it here in the comments section. In theory your photos will then load. -

Hi ladies! I went away for the weekend and had a great rest - no computers, tvs etc, but I missed so much! Of course now I am also looking at all the things I did not get done and have to do now! Welcome to all the newcomers on here! SusieQ - I know it has been said, but that job interview....he folded your resume into a boat on the desk btw you Seriously how unprofessional is that! Italiagirl...don't know if you have seen it on the threads here yet, but a lot of people have used discountmugs.com Okay guys....my bridesmaid dresses are in, the girls just have to pick them up - check flowergirl dresses are in and just have to be picked up - check my dress - ordered but not here yet (impatiently waiting!) Groom and groomsmen stuff - not even looking yet! My FI is out of town and has not even gotten to speak to his friends that he is planning to ask! Driving me crazy because he is so into last minute shopping I am worried it will be right before we leave in Feb he will be shopping! I am too much of a planner for that not to drive me crazy, but I suppose all he really has to buy is a shirt...how hard could that be, right? -
How did you ask your BMs if they would be your BM?

OMG! I am not sure what I did to make them so HUGE! Sorry guys! Disregard this one....I was able to figure it out and went back in to change them. -

Guest assumes they can bring someone
Raykel replied to classadiva's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I agree with Tammy and Nadine and the others on here....if I was travelling to a destination wedding, I would be asking a friend to come along. It is pretty rare you would invite a guest to a wedding and ask them to go solo. We have been really lucky as far as tag alongs have gone. Friends have asked if their family/friend can book with us to get our deal - but immediately said they were just coming along to get the deal and would not assume they were a part of the wedding festivities. That made it easy on us because we have not had to tell them no. The only person I had to say no to was a cousin who was getting carried away who he thought I should be inviting, but he backed off right away when I told him that was not what we wanted. -
Mopeedy! Your photos and the book look amazing!

What a unique idea!

I will have my TA get in touch with them too and I am going to email Paloma as well. Maybe that will sort things out. I am not really stressing about this because I suspect that when we get there the tunes will change a fair bit, but why we are getting told no to speakers when others have been able to book them...you are right Keira...it seems odd Coba would allow this and not Tulum. Also, Jazmin has specifically said if we use the lobby bar or one of the others we do not get to have a DJ, rent speakers or play our own music, yet that is what you got to do......maybe it has to do with who the wedding coordinator is.

Well I have a couple of stressors, but booking has not been one of them. My TA was starting our announcements for us on Wednesday...on Thursday she logged in to double check her facts and there was a good seat sale going on....saving $300 pp. The sale was only for 5 days though! So we put everything together in less than 24 hrs...ok a little stressful...and within 4 days had 32 adults booked and 4 kids. The only people not "conforming" is one of my cousins who is staying at a time share nearby with his mom and gf. We have a few people who want to come, but are waiting till a bit closer to make sure they can afford it. I hope they come, but if not...well we decided to do a DW in order to keep it intimate. MY biggest stressor has been my WC. At first I thought she was awesome, but thanks to this site I have all this info on things like prices etc. So when I get told something is only $20/hr or $8/person and then she send me info saying the $20/hr does not exist it will cost me $400USD and that it is really $18/person....I find that frustrating. That part of the email annoys me....I am a bit of a control freak about this sort of thing and sometimes am tempted to just phone and get this all sorted out in one long expensive call so that I can go back to my DIY projects! All I can say is Thank Gosh! for this forum!

She thought is was going to be my cousin so she just asked.....we had stopped for lunch at McD's and were eating chix nuggets! We will laugh about that forever I imagine. I made both the girls cards to "officially" ask them...I used the same poem! I am a scrapbooker, so I made the cards and printed the poem with their names in them. The girls loved them.... -

We are staying at the Coba but getter married at the Akumal beach location. I guess this just means I get to marry my love a week sooner! Hmm. Given you paid a deposit, does that not make it their fault? Are the doing anything for you guys? Sorry...that would be frustrating. You are right though, not a lot you can do about it and at least it is only moved by one week. You and your sweetie get to be married sooner

I agree with the first "Wow"....its too bad that happened...I know I am not very adept at this forum either and have sent some PM's to the mods and they have sent me really helpful info on how to move around. Sorry you are having a bad experience....if you do come back, I would like to see your dress too! It may feel like you are asking for attention....but we all are - that is why we are here. To share with each other and not drive everyone else in out lives nuts!
