Congrats MrsC2be, There are a bunch of great threads on MP. Checkout the Moon Palace 2010 thread, Moon Palace 2008-2009, and look in the Wedding Reviews category. There are about 5 REALLY well written reviews with all kinds of details and pictures. You will find me and a few other brides very active in the MP 2010 thread. Goodluck and congrats! Chelle

Dreams is a fabulous resort. Congrats and welcome to BDW!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! The area you are looking at is incredibly beautiful and full of wonderful wedding resorts. Good luck!

Welcome to the BDW! You will find lots of helpful information here about Mexico. We are getting married at Moon Palace in July....so I am partial. However, I've heard a lot of fabulous things about Dreams. Good luck!

We are doing a sand ceremony.....I'm not quite sure where in the ceremony...but we plan to. I ordered our kit from the website below. I paid $60 which included engraving and shipping. I got it this week and it is beautiful. You can find this same kit on several websites...but I researched who had the best price and this website was the lowest. HINT: If you go out to the supergiftplace home page and select the 30% off sale price....it is actually $18 more than this link. I'm not sure why they have different links for the same kit (probably depends on how you found it). Heart Shaped Sand Ceremony Vase Set - SUPERGIFTPLACE.COM I am interested in how everyone is including in their ceremonies as well though.

Wedding Cancelled- Items FS
Janelley100 replied to doblauvelt's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
We are all very sad to hear about the cancellation. Us gals on the MP 2010 thread have been so worried about you. I hope everything is ok. Just know that peace and understand come in time. I am getting married for the 3rd and final time....so everything works out for a reason. It can just be very difficult to see and understand the reason through the tears. Keep your chin up girly! You will come out on top! -
Wow Woodsylou...you have done a great job compiling. Thank you so much! This is going to be very helpful! Todd's best friends got married at MP 2 years ago and held their reception dinner at the Arricefes (Brazilian) restaurant. They said it was fantastic and would do it there again. Food was delicious and service was great. Todd said he loved it too and wants our reception dinner there as well.

OOT Bags for Teenagers
Janelley100 replied to daniepps's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I too have 5 teenagers coming to our wedding. On one of the other OOT bag threads the following items were suggested: Pedicure kits or bright nail polish colors The colorful sunblock for the face (I forget what it is called) Sudoko and Hidden Word/Puzzle books (Dollar store) Playing Cards or Frisbees Make your own bracelet/necklace kits Candy (M&M's, Starburst, Skittles, etc) I would love to hear anyone else's ideas as this is all I have found. Good luck! -
***Wright Travel Agency and BDW Travel Agents***
Janelley100 replied to TammyWright's topic in Honeymoon Forum
Thank you Tammy! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For listening, evaluating my reservation situation and giving me the best options our there for our wedding at Moon Palace. ***And for saving me $$$'s*** We feel so much more at ease now that we found you and got everything finalized! Thank you! -
I'm not sure if anyone has listed this one...but it is big for me for some reason. Traditionally, in North America, the brides name comes before the grooms on everything. Even in the monogram it is brides initial, last name initial and then grooms initial. Well, I like everything the opposite way. This is Todd & Chelle's Wedding...not the opposite. Our monogram is tSc...not cSt. I'm not sure why it is traditionally one way or the other...but there have been a couple items I've ordered where I have had to list his name as the brides and mine as the grooms to get the engraving done the way I want it.
-
On a lighter note...have you all ordered your dresses? I just ordered mine last night and I'm so excited. I got it from one of the online knock off shops in China. I read tons of reviews on the pro's and cons and just decided that I would shoot for the moon and be happy if I got a pretty dress that fit! I put a link to the dress I ordered below. FutureMsMoulton - I was feeling exactly like that until this weekend! I was literaly saying....I wish we would have picked another resort. Then we finally got things cx'd with our previous TA and rebooked with Tammy. OMG - She got us a WAY better deal. Saved me over $800! Now, keep in mind that I am not fighting for a bunch of free events...I just don't want the stress of it and we don't really have tons of guests coming.....something around 15 people plus us. So we plan on having a "Meet us at the Rooftop bar" the night before and the reception dinner at one of the restaurants the evening of the wedding (by using the free reservation). However, even IF I wantd to fight for the free promotions...I would still go for using Tammy as the TA because after emailing her quite a few time times and speaking with her on the phone (more like interrogating her...LOL) she is VERY knowledgable about Moon Palace and knows how to encourage them to accomodate brides. Goodluck...and thank you all for listening to me the other day. I am so glad I dumped the old TA and got with the new! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!

If she isn't helpful now don't expect her to be later! Did you sign the contract with Moon Palace directly or did she take care of it? Do you have a copy of the signed contract? Again, I got the contract and signed it directly with MP. It only stated our wedding date...no room contract. What I failed to mention last night was that I also choose this TA because MP was listed as one of their top 5 resorts they have exclusive deals with. Well, those deals never materialized and now when I review their website they don't even list MP as preferred wedding resort under CANCUN...with the other 20 or so resorts they list. This just worries me....I picked a TA based on their deal to MP and then they don't even deal with MP? I am just waiting on an email from Tammy and if the price is right I am going to call and cancel my deal with this other TA today. The TA won't be the one taking the fee from me....it would be the tour operator FunJet I believe. So I will have to do some work today. I HATE calling to tell people they suck! Wish me luck!
-
I try not to vent very much because...well...I just try not too. However, since no one else seems to understand my temper tantrum, I figure you ladies might. So here goes! I decided to use a specific travel agent due to the information they provided on their specialization of destination weddings. They had good reviews, a wonderful website and are a branch of a much larger natio al travel agency. The only required a $50 deposit to begin the planning process and get your free planning website up and running. This $50 was not a fee (as they are a travel agency) and would be applied to the final balance as a credit before you depart. Sound good? So I paid the deposit, got assigned a "certified" destination wedding specialist who specializes in the Mexico/Carribean resorts, got my website up and going...all is good! THEN, I have my first call with the TA. Maybe my expectations were wrong but basically I wanted to know what would be the best deal financially for a small destination wedding in the Cancun area. It was then that I should have asked for my money back.....my mistake. The TA basically wanted me to tell her where we were going and she would give me some quotes. Well, come on now, I don't know where I want to go! I want suggestions! Is that too much to ask for? So we finally decide on Moon Palace based on the fact that our best friends got married there and we had a first hand account of what we would get. So I go online and find the MP wedding website...see that our date is open and send in a request in a hurry. Did I mention that it takes our TA about 5 days to get back to any of our emails? She then sends me about 20 quotes....in individual emails (not in a spreadsheet or something simple) to review. We pick one and she books it. Then she was out for the all of November and December (on vacation I suppose?) so I called her fill in when we came across some SUPER cheap flights on Orbitz. The fill in TA said BOOK THEM NOW! So I did. Once again....I did the work! The kicker is that NONE of my family or friends will book through her because she can't get good pricing and takes forever to get back to them. So I emailed Tammy (You know...the host of this website!) and she took pity on this poor bride and is helping out my family.....and has come up with a better deal than what we got through our current TA. So my dilemma now is...do I cancel the resv. I have now and rebook with a better deal? Or do I just stick it out? I haven't inquired if there is a cancellation fee or now....but will be willing to give up a little bit to get better service. Tammy has gotten back to each of my emails within 24 hours if not sooner...and provided concise and simple quotes that I understand. Also, what category of room are you all booked in? She gave me a quote for Deluz, Superior Delux, and Superior Deluxe Ocean Front. Now I am torn....I've never been to the resort so I am apprehensive about what room to pick. More so than anything, I am just really really frustrated with out TA and disappointed at how I have done all the work when I thought I was getting the services of a "Certified destination wedding travel agent". Sorry if there are typos...I got to typing and just started spewing this post out!

Sorry for just "jumping" here....but you will all do great! I have been getting a Brazilian wax (all the way front to back) for over a year very 6 weeks. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! My only suggestion is research where you go (If you are in Denver, CO IM me and I'll tell you the best), make sure they take there time (it takes my girl 30-40 minutes), make sure they don't use the yellow wax (like for your eyebrows) it is completely different and will do damage, and relax! It doesn't hurt very much at all....I was OVER THE TOP scared before my first one. Now the pain is like an after thought! Also, your hair will come back less and less and thinner and thinner the more you do them. It is shocking how different my hair is now compared to a year ago....like going from the amazon forest to the trees in my backyard! LOL Good luck!

I feel for each of you brides who are working through the hurdles at the last minute. It seems as if they are just completely understaffed for the number of weddings they take on. I understand that for most everything is beautiful and wonderful once you get there, but there should be a better, more structured and sound process for how they deal with each bride from 12 months to 2 days away. I agree that what is good for one should be good for all...and therefore to read that brides that are over 6 months away (sometimes a year away) are getting locations and details confirmed has got to be frustrating when you are only a couple months or weeks away and getting the run around. Hang in there and know in the back of your mind that all will be as you dreamed once you get there...I know that is easier said than done...this coming from a bride that is reading your frustrations and knowing I will be in the same boat as you in 3 or so months...as I too have waited! Good luck to each of you! Chelle

I have used Vistaprint for my business for the past 4 years....and they are wonderful with lots of freebies and good quality. I most recently used them for my OOT bags....YES...My OOT bags! I did the premium beige canvas bags with black handle/black bottom and I put my own beach graphic on them. they came out (with shipping and tax) to about $8 a bag. And they were a little bigger than I thought. Could easily fit a beach towel and goodies. Not a HUGE bag...but a nice size bag. Good luck!!

Ev's Moon Palace Beach Wedding Review 11-12-09

Wow.....what a wonderful review and thank you so much for sharing. You looked absolutely amazing! I can't wait to see your photos....WOW! Congratulations! -
We are actually getting married on Feb 17th legally here due to the need to transfer my FI over to my insurance. Then I am renewing my passport to be in my new married name before our trip....I need it for my job anyhow so I might as well get it done. i spoke with MP and they said it makes no difference if my maiden or married name is on my passport. Since it is a symbolic wedding they will write down either name I want on the symbolic certificate. So, pretty easy! ***Also, this probably doesn't apply to anyone here but I found this ridiculous. If you are getting married within one year of a divorce Mexico requires you take a pregnancy test along with the blood test. It's like an additional $150. $150 BUCKS to pee on a stick! Crazyness!!!***

I am not sure if I understand your complete question....but we are getting legally married here in Colorado and having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. I've talked with our wedding coordinator at Mp and she assured me that no one will know the difference as we don't want anyone to know we aren't getting legally married there. The costs associated with the legal part of things were enormous, and quite honestly annoying. I want to go there to have a blast and not worry about apostilles or blood tests....and don't forget the extra like $500 for all of that! So we are opting for the cheap and easy route. $35 for our license in Colorado and $0 worries while in Mexico! Yippee!

We are getting married on July 17th too! Only my my FI and I are bookedas of yet. Everyone else is waiting till after the holidays. Unfortuantely Moon Palace had sale rates that ended November 30th. So the rates have gone up since we booked AND they are stating that the lowest priced rooms are Sold Out (which I don't believe since we can still find them on Orbitz). SO....never the less....I feel your pain! Hang in there....one day in the coming month or so you will have a rush of them book all at once! Chelle
