  1. I was going to suggest the same thing...most higher end hotels in Denver have a "day rate". It is about half to two thirds the full nightly rate. And I'm talking the Brown Palace historic hotel, Westin downtown, Hyatt and Ritz Carlton. ***I know this because I have to book half days for my companies officers to "get away" during board meetings. No harm in asking!
  2. Tons of water, better diet, walking and I started Proactive. I have been a skeptic for YEARS about proactive...but decided there wasn't a better time to try it out. I'm 31 years old and STILL have problem skin. So I bought it at a kiosk in the makll to avoid a "monthly subscription" to the mail plan they have on tv. I'm telling you...it was the best $50 I have ever spent. My skin stopped breaking out after a week and all the areas where I have had repeat trouble for years have been slowly healing back to normal skin color. I'm glad I started it a few months ago...my wedding is 4 months off and by then I'm hoping everything will look 100%. Also, will probably spray tan...I'm a booth tanner in the summer but the spray tan you can get a the At The Beach stores are wonderful. Good question!
  3. Oh wow....I'm so happy to hear you are ok. Prayers are sometimes miracles. And ditto on the sunscreen...it isn't worth it! Take care!
  4. There are two schools of thought on this.... 1 - Give half up front in a nice card as a Thank You for all your help up till now. Some people view this as a potential motivation to go that extra mile during the wedding. then give the remainder as a final Thank you afterwards. 2 - Give the entire tip at the end in a nice card. I have seen anywhere between $50 and $200USD total. Remember that the dollar is worth more than the peso, even these days! LOL So it is always better to give US cash as it will be worth quite a bit more to them. We take always tip the housecleaning staff $20USD at the end of our stay....they won't take it during your stay, try as you might to leave it out in perfect view. Take a few $1USD as they make great bell boy, waiter, bartender etc tips that they totally don't expect you to provide.
  5. I've read about a wide range of gifts on several posts in the forum. Cash, necklace, earrings, medicines that you can only get int he US....yes you read that right! Cash seems to be the going gift of choice though!
  6. Welcome Coltop.....thanks for finally joining the madness! LOL We are happy to have another opinion and perspective! Good luck and take care!
  7. I tried on ZERO dresses.....instead I looked online, found a pretty dress on a girl that looked like me and ordered it! Scary, but it worked. Would you ever consider holding your DW somewhere really cold but beautiful? Like Alaska, Patagonia, Norway or Greenland?
  8. Congrats and welcome to BDW....this is quite the place!
  9. I agree with Melidell....I think you would end up feeling better about it if you paid for the lunch....but as a guest I would not be offended to have to come up with $10. Either way I think you are ok...just matters what you are comfortable with. Good luck!
  10. Very nice....we are hoping to buy a home in Arvada next year after the wedding and a few other events. I have lived all over the Denver Metro area and Arvada is so far my favorite...very old town, but right next door to Everything! Maybe we'll bump into each other at the Dollar Tree! LOL
  11. Can't wait to see them....she did my monogram and I love it. Trying to decide on invites now! Congrats on the milestone!
  12. Speaking of "Rooftop Terrace Bar"....if either of you ladies happen to figure out where that bar is and take a peak....I would love to hear about it! I heard the views are great at sunset!
  13. Great idea! We decided to do "Meet for Cocktails" on the rooftop terrace bar for our "welcome" event. Our party is fairly small so wedecided to use the free reservation for the reception dinner on the terrace of one of the restaurants instead. That way our welcome and reception are covered for free. Hey FutureMsMoulton....crazy girl...can't sleep the last nights before you leave? I imagine I will be the same!
  14. I agree with the girls....accent with pink. Boutonniere - white flower with hot pink ribbon....or maybe a hot pink tie? But hot pink shirt may attract too much attention. Good luck.
  15. This is an interesting question and one I hadn't thought about. Thank you for asking it and I can't wait to see others ideas.
  16. Near Durango? where? I am FROM Durango and now live in Arvada (suburb just northwest of Denver). I work downtown Denver and have for the past 11 years....LOVE IT! I will never move from Denver. AND I too do not ski or snow board. My family is lucky to get me up to the resort! LOL I went to Durango High School and Fort Lewis College for a bit. If your FI is a native Durangotang....I wonder how old he is? Love to see some girls close to home on here!
  17. This sounds like s a cool program....I need to do something!
  18. Veronica, Oh how I feel your pain.I'm sorry to hear about your FI's job....it is so tough right now. My FI works in commercial real estate (he is a Construction Superintendent) and with the commercial industry basically crashed like everything else...there isn't much building going on. His job right now will be completed in May, so we went into this wedding planning task knowing we needed to be conservative to keep our emergency fund in place. I'm sure you will figure out some creative ways to keep the important details...who knows...this may make your ceremony even more intimate and less stressful. Gotta look at the brighter side when it rains! Good luck.
  19. Congrats on your selection! It has to be a great feeling to finally be done picking the resort....now on to the good stuff!!!
  20. Some one else on this forum had it rain during the reception...I don't remember who. They moved the reception from the outside terrace to an inside location and had it decorated. It seemed to me that they anticipated the rain coming and already had it set up in the inside location. As for a beach ceremony...I am thinking if it looksl ike rain you may be moved inside a gazebo....but that is simply my guess. I am so sorry you have hdd so much trouble with getting contact with your coordinator. From my impression of the reviews I've read...and advice I have gotten from a couple travel agents...seems like once you are down there they will cater to your requests. This can obviously be very difficult to deal with as most of us want everything set in concrete long before we arrive...but it seems to be the way they deal with things down there. Right, wrong or draw. Just keep trying...and definitely ask for the free room when you get there...obviously the worst they can say is no. Everything is always worth asking for! Let us know!
