Were going to have an 2 optional excursions. One will be a half day of fishing on a boat for the guys and spa day for the ladies. and the other will be for everybody to go to Excaret(sp) for a day of fun. I think its about $90 though- so maybe they can pay their own way unless you have a really small group. Friends of ours rented a big boat for half a day with lunch included as a gift to their guests, they said it was not very expensive. Are any of you getting a taxi or small bus to the resort instead of the usual huge bus they take you on? Just wondering because its fairly far from the airport and think some older guests and kids might get annoyed with the long ride and possible drop off's at other resorts along the way?? Anybody know of any good companies that will come and pick us all up for a good price? I got a price on a big limo but they wanted almost $400 for one way trip..yikes

Hi Abbie, We are also having our dinner at Dolce Vita- I thought it would be better for more of the guests than seafood as well. Im also a little nervous to have such a limited selection for the guests. We are only allowed two options for the main dish for them to choose from, one appy, and one soup. Not really happy with it, but the cost of a poolside buffet was alot! and since your having so many guests..yikes it would be expensive.

Yeah, I got an email from Paloma! We are confirmed for May 4th =) Too bad about the restaurant at the Hacienda... The fiesta is $16 dollars normally but if you were eating at that restaurant at the same time it was no charge. Oh well, lots of other great restaurants to choose from. I think it gets a little chilly in November, but not cold.. http://www.travelyucatan.com/playa_del_carmen_weather.php

Yes, I think Im booked..I sure hope so. We chatted about ceremony and reception options, as well as meal plan. And they gave me the date and time of ceremony. But now I cant get them to reply to my emails =( Was getting a little worried since we have 32 booked, but since you didnt have to sign anything maybe its ok.. Â Andree- I dont think you can have your wedding dinner at Mikado- it wasnt one of the options they gave us, but worth a try to ask. Good question about the oriental restaurant, Im not sure- I hope its still there cause if you eat there on a Thursday night you can stay for the Mexican Festival at no charge since its at the Hacienda. and Yes we did have to choose a set menu and only got to choose between Dolce Vita and one other.

Hi ladies, Â I havent been on here for a long time, but just went back and read all your posts...Congrats and welcome to all the new brides =) We are getting married May 4th, 2011 at the hammocks (Akumal) but Im getting a little nervous cause I havent heard from Eugenia in 2 months....yikes I even emailed Paloma to try and touch base with somebody but still not response. Hopefully soon. Did you guys have to sign anything to confirm your wedding date? or put down a deposit on the wedding cost? Â Still trying to decide between the resort DJ and DJ Bijan?? cant wait to hear your reviews on him when you get back

Hi Kevnanna, We liked Akumal the best and are going back to that section in May to be married. I know alot of people like Coba because its the newest but its farther from the water. Tulum is also close to the water but is the oldest of the three. They are all beautiful. I think it depends on if water view is important to you. As for the wristbands, I dont think they care when its not their busy season. We went in April and ate in all three sections and I was told this time would be the same. Good luck making your decision =)

Hi ladies, Midnight- question about the booze prices- from what I can tell- if we go with the international (big package) at $24 and hour per person, and the reception is 3 hours-then its going to cost $72 per person-just for drinks....yikes- that times 30 is over $2000...I can see how everything really starts to add up Ladies who did dinner in a restaurant and then went on to the poolside reception- were you able to do speaches at the restaurant? or where there other resort guests sitting with your group? Thanks a bunch=)

Hey ladies, are you guys paying for the wedding party's clothes? I wasnt planning on it- but heard we should I like Mexbrides idea of a gift card though- and I loveee JCrew! We are just going to honeymoon the second week in mexico. Just going to switch resorts because many of our guests are staying the second week at the wedding resort. And our kids will stay with the grandparents at the first resort as well. However, Napa Valley or Tahiti sound great! Lindobride- did you already put deposits down on the estimated cost Cause we did it on estimated cost but out travel agent said if prices come in higher we will only pay the estimate- which was $1440 before tax

We will not be paying for anybody's trip...that would be so costly and I figure there on their own vacation and our wedding is such a small part of the week. That resort looks beautiful prettypigpig, we will be looking into that one =) If any of you are flying Air Transat have you notice how little you can check?? its 44lbs a person!!! I was shocked and horrified all at once... Were going to need double that...ahh not sure what to do.

Busy Busy ladies on here..just love going back and reading all the random conversations =) I think I will buy my fiance a gift for the wedding day- to get while he's getting ready for the big moment. Most likely a watch or something practical as well. Love all the dog talk- we have a Westie and are soo in love with him- he is like another kid to us- but the next dog will be a big rescue mutt, but that wont happen till after the wedding. How annoying for all of you who cant book yet. We are all booked and just waiting on deposits from guests- 12 booked so far!!! Your right about Canadian travel agents- It seems that package deals are the only option- We are still trying to decide on a honeymoon resort though (for the second week) my future hubby is really set on Cozumel so we will most likely go there- any suggestions?? We are open to not all inclusive as well, since we will be coming from a week of all inclusive it might be night to get out and try different restaurants in the city. Riri- Congrats on booking your date!! that seems like a popular day to get married

Love your dress PeterPan- its really beautiful Mischaka- Congrats on the weight loss =) Im going to have about 50lbs to lose after the baby is born in 6 weeks...yuck- but I did it in 9months with my first so hopefully no problems getting it off this time- I have the looming bikini vactation to keep my motivated! Im hoping my girls dont do a bridal shower for me actually- since the trip is going to cost so much it makes me feel bad- 3 out of 4 of my bridesmaids are not very well off =( Michelle- I love love love pink and brown together We have a wedding date!! May 4th..yeehaw

wow Nicyx- those are nasty bites...yikes- we were there the middle of April last year with no problems but I have heard of people getting eaten alive. Prettypig- thats hilarious about your dad- sounds like a real character! Im sure it was not so funny as you were growing up though. Mischa- great wedding page =) Michelle- thanks, I know I have to remind myself it will all work out. I would rather he just stayed home anyway cause he is such a pessimist. Now if I could just get him to stop spreading the negativity! Welcome jusme4e- this is a great place to be, wonderful ladies with lots of ideas =)

Lovely dress Linhy.. Great news ceecee.. dont forget the pics Michelle- congrats on getting the ahr worked out- were not going to do one-but can imagine it would be alot of work to put together Are any of you dealing with paranoid family/friends I have family (mainly an uncle) who are constantly telling everybody how unsafe it is to travel to Mexico, thats its crazy for us to be dragging all our loved ones there. It makes me nuts cause he has all the facts and number of deaths but they are no where near the Mayan Riviera and are along the border towns. If feels like im constantly defending Mexico and our decision...arg so annoying. I just hope he doesnt scare anybody out of coming.

Hi ladies, To those of you who have already had your wedding- If you did a symbolic was it ovious to the guests that it wasnt legal?? do you think the resort would make it seem legal for us- we are thinking about doing the paper work at home before we leave, but I really dont want to take away from the moment either. Also was wondering if they still do the Mexican Fiesta on Thursday nights? Thanks so much =)
-
awww Michelle your kids are beautiful. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy and am due with our second in May... so exactly one year to get my body back...ekkk the pressure is on! Im still trying to decide between Turquoise/Aqua or light yellow for the bridesmaid dresses and colours. I saw some pictures of a wedding done with Aqua and Tangerine and it looks really nice and tropical so maybe I will go with that Still undecided

Welcome Josie =) Everytime I come on here I have so much catching up to do. Linhy, it sounds like you are really on top of things..good for you- love the shoes. I will be going barefoot or with flats since I already 5'9. Nicx- just love your foot decoration I love the idea of your son walking you down the isle, so sweet =) Have you guys picked your colours yet?

geesh, Im so confused. When we were there in April nobody told us we cant eat in different sections. We had reservations in Akumal, Tulum and Coba restaurants. Plus, we ate at all the buffets? I asked Paloma and she basically said eating at all over the place wouldnt be a problem... Im really concerned beacuse we are going to have some guests possibly staying in the Coba section while we will be Akumal- If we cant have meals together I would be really upset. Im going to email her and get a straight answer...will let you ladies know

Hey ladies, Talk to your travel agents...you should be able to book on an estimated cost. We already have our deposits down for May2011. We were told as long as we get 10 deposits then the group rate and hotel are confirmed. When prices come in, if they are cheaper-we pay the cheaper rate. I was way to impatient to wait, so this was our solution. I feel much better knowing that everything is a for sure Hope that helps =)

xcited bride- you have made a good choice. Gran Bahia is beautiful and your family will love it. Why did you decide to go with the Tulum side? Im just curious- was is cheaper? We are also looking somewhere else for our second week- My hubby to be would like to be in cozumel but im not so sure- kinda worried about if the ferry stops running due to weather and we cant get outta there. Let me know what resort you end up with =)

This thread is great!!! Congrats to all my fellow 2011 brides. We are getting married the first week of May 2011 at Gran Bahia Principe Akumal. It was an easy decision for us beacause we went there last year and just loved it. I can picture how everything will go in my head. I too am an early planner and put down deposits last week and am sending out save the dates this week. Because prices arent in yet- My travel agent contacted the resort and they came up with an estimate- If the prices should come in any higher we get the estimated cost and if they come in lower- we get the lower cost. That worked out well- I kept my save the date cards somewhat unofficial- said the first week of May and the resort and travel agent info- but wrote exact time and date to be announced. Anybody having trouble with photographers? Our resort doesnt allow outside photographers so we cant hire one of the amazing photogs in the that area? really dissapointing =( You guys should check out vistaprint.com- once you sign up they send you free offers almost everyday- we did our cards for next to nothing and have been getting personalized pens, hats, magnets and other little stuff for the oot bags. They have lots of tropical designs. Happy planning everybody
