I totally understand you freaking out about this (I would be too!) BUT I've heard that even if the weather says 90% or 100% of anything, it could mean it does that for, like, 10 minutes during the day. It's kind of like Florida...you'll have beautiful sunshine allll day, and then for 20 minutes in the afternoon it rains like the dickens, and then is beautiful sunshine again for the rest of the day. Just enough to break up the crazy heat and make everything smell fresh and rainy, and then sunshine again!

Either way, I'm sure your trip and wedding will be amazing! Think positive!

Yep, now all the fun begins! Meal options, photographers, ceremony locations....the decisions are never ending! I've totally put of making any decisions; I'm waiting to see how many people are actually COMING before making those choices. And other than my immediate family, NO ONE has booked yet! So frustrating...but oh well wink.gif

Im hoping he'll get used to wearing it for our wedding and then never want to take it off!! We'll see, Im not bothered if he dosent wear it for work as it may get damaged but i would like him to wear it at ALL other times jiggy.gif xox
I so know what you mean! Although, Sean (my FI) doesn't even remember to close the cupboard doors and drawers when he's done with them, so I'm not holding out too much hope that he'll remember to put his ring on after work. Hence, getting a cheap-o ring! Ten bucks says he loses it within 6 months wink.gif
  3. My TA e-mailed me the other day...we're FINALLY starting to see some specials come out for our resort. I should *hopefully* have a group contract quote on Tuesday this week. The good news is that even if we take the contract, we can adjust the pricing if it goes down even more! I'm finally starting to de-stress!

Our wedding rings are ready to be collected today but I've got tonsillitis so the FI will be going to get them alone... I tried to tell him he couldnt look until he got back but he made a good point when he said he kind of needs to check them lol

Nicyx - YAY it feels so fab when its a year to go!! feels more real!! x
Wow you are so ahead of the game!!! I need to get cracking on looking at wedding bands!

My fiance is a commercial electrician, and it's pretty dangerous for him to wear a ring to work, so I'm pretty sure we'll go with an inexpensive white gold or silver band for him. I doubt he'll ever wear it, unless he's going out drinking with his friends and I force him to put it on friday.gif hehehe.
  5. Hey ladies! Long time no talk! I've been reading all the posts but haven't really posted much lately...I'm being a total "lurker" haha...neenerneener.gif

Anywho, I just booked my honeymoon in Cozumel! I am sooooo so so excited. We splurged on a concierge-level suite, so I am so ready to be pampered! We're staying at Cozumel Palace which looks absolutely gorgeous, but is totally affordable. Best of both worlds!

Also just started sending out e-mails to photographers on the Riviera Maya. We're working with a pretty tight budget, so I doubt I'll be able to afford any of them and will probably have to go with the resort photogs (lame!) but it doesn't hurt to try, right?

Congrats to the new members, and to Nicola for finally booking! Woo hoo girl!

  6. Hey ladies! Just checking back in. I just booked my honeymoon in Cozumel for the week after the wedding. We're staying at Cozumel Palace and I am SO excited! We splurged for a concierge-level suite, so I am ready to be pampered! Just wishing these next 9 months will fly by...I'm sure they will!

Also started sending out inquiries on photographers. I'm not super impressed with the photogs recommended by the resort (I e-mailed Matias Cano a couple of months ago and never heard back...awesome!). My budget is pretty tight, though, so I may have to end up going with one of them anway sad.gif Fingers crossed that one of the photogs I've e-mailed is within my budget!!!

AmyBermuda....how many days now? I'm so excited for you!!!

So, I am not too worried about it - but I also don't really care that much about the ceremony set up - so I never aksed the questions. You will be able to see my pictures in 4 weeks though!!!

Here is the picture I said I wanted my gazebo to look like:

I must have looked at 200 weddings on the beach pictures to finally decide so I know how you feel.
Oh wow that is so so so beautiful! Very simple and elegant, I love it!

We used their fabric for everything. Colored fabric costs more than white, fyi. Our jute runner was $40, the pink fabric draped over the wall was $75, the two white pieces of fabric over the beach gazebo in the background were $75 each, and the chair fabric was $4 each. Why the jute runner was only $40 but the other, smaller piece of pink was $75 is beyond me!

The set-up fee we paid was $40 onsite to the WCs. My understanding is that that was only for the decorations we brought with us (mostly reception stuff). There shouldn't be a charge if you're not bringing anything extra.

Seriously, a LOT of the things they do doesn't make sense...but that's ok wink.gif

I'm thinking about renting the chair covers, and bringing everything else. I really want to keep it pretty simple...maybe just some aqua and lime green tulle (my colors) wrapped around the gazebo, and chair ties, and that's it. That pink you used was SO pretty...totally "tropical", perfect for the beach.

Decisions, decisions! I just realized I'm under the 9 month mark for the wedding, so I better get my booty in gear and start making decisions!

P.S...still totally looking forward to your review :) I'm hoping I can show my friends/fam who are hemming and hawing about paying to stay at the resort, and are considering staying at one of the "cheapo" places in Cancun (grrr). But it sounds like you had an awesome experience!
  9. Hey any ladies that want to place another order...I am interested as well! It seems the minimum order is 4 dozen...I'd be ordering one dozen, so if there are any other ladies out there (we need three dozen more ordered) let's see if we can get this together and place an order!

  10. Hey Taylorwd! Finally got a chance to look through all your pictures...they are AMAZING! Andrew you did such a fantastic job and I am TOTALLY jealous :)

Taylorwd I don't remember if you talked about this earlier in the thread, and if you did I am SO SORRY, but remind me again: did you bring your own fabric for the chair ties/aisle runner and just pay the set-up fee, or did you rent them from the venue? I'm looking through my package trying to get a feel for our budget and I don't know what would be more cost-effective. And I know we've all heard 100 different quotes on prices for set-up, etc...so I'd love to hear directly from you if you don't mind :)

  11. Awww...you guys are making me re-think my decision to spend the night with my FI before we get married! I was planning on staying in the same room. I've slept beside him for the last two years of my life (almost three years by the time we get married) and I can't imagine being able to sleep very well without him there the night before...

...But now, thinking of the walk down the aisle being the first time I see him the day of sounds REALLY romantic...so I'll have to marinate on this one a bit wink.gif

The tequila bar is open until 1am (technically, though they'll stay open later if you're hanging out drinking) and tends to be where people get rowdy. Who wouldn't with all the tequila they have?? LOL.

Even still, AB can be summed up in one word: CHILL

The resort fit us and our group perfectly: small and intimate with beautiful grounds, amazing food, over-the-top customer service, and the nicest staff you'll ever meet. We were there 10 days and felt like we were living in the lap of luxury.

I'll be writing a full review of everything down the road, but in the meantime feel free to ask me any questions!
Welcome back Mrs!!! I'm so glad you guys had such a good time at AB, and that the weather cleared up for your wedding day (saw your post in the Azul thread). Can't wait for your review...and honestly, I'm feeling soooo good about picking AB because it sounds absolutely perfect for what I had in mind!

As for the Donkey Cocktail hour, it's funny because FI and I were put off by the Donkey at first and asked our WC to not have the donkey there because we thought it was tacky. She replied mentioning the donkey by his name saying he wouldn't be there and I don't know why but I got teary-eyed and told FI that he has a name and we were taking away his job!
OMG that's the cutest thing I've ever heard!!! I picture Eeyore, looking all sad in his little stall in Mexico, not getting to go party with the guests...

I have never seen my FI so excited as when I mentioned we could do a donkey cocktail hour. I swear, he perked right up. I have a feeling we'll be doing the donkey cocktail hour no matter what...

Lol...you are adorable! Great job on the cover-up...looks verrrry elegant. Love that dress, too!

I rarely get drunk, but the last time I did (about a year ago) I was on a party bus for a friend's b-day. I was wearing super high wedges with a narrow base (recipe for disaster). I had to go the bathroom sooooo bad by the time we got downtown, and I got off the bus and started to hot foot it to the nearest restroom. Well, some streets in downtown Seattle are cobble-stone, so before I made it even 3 steps I was on the ground. Lol...right in front of the bus...and all my friends...the funniest part was I had to potty so bad, I just whipped right back up and kept running! Never get between a girl and a bathroom after 4 beers!
  15. I'm all about the flip-flops!!! Especially if you're going to be "celebrating" with some drinky-drinks after the ceremony.

All I know is this: every time I go out dancing with the girls, and I get all done up, wearing high heels etc; after a few drinks my feet are KILLING me and I wish wish wish that I had brought some flats along with. Over the years I've learned that beauty is not worth the pain, so I go out now only wearing comfy shoes wink.gif

It doesn't help that I'm a complete klutz and manage to eat pavement 50 % of the time when I'm wearing heels. And That. Is. Embarrassing cheesy.gif

Good on you!!! I think making 50 invitations by hand was enough creativity for me. I'll do OOT bags, and then I'm done.

Really all I want on my wedding day are friends, family, a couple cocktails before-hand for nerves, my FI, a dress, and our vows. Not necessarily in that order wink.gif
  17. Gals, I think I am the one weirdo here....I sent out 50 invitations (for about 75 people total) and I'm actually HOPING that we get no more than 20-25 people coming. Honestly, I haaaate being the center of attention, and I'll feel so much more relaxed if it's just close friends and family. That's really why I chose a DW in the first place...I couldn't imagine having to walk down the aisle in front of 250 people. I'd be so nervous, I wouldn't enjoy my wedding day AT ALL.

I know that probably makes me a freak, but that's ok wink.gif

So I rushed to the site to see...and OF COURSE my resort is not included smile27.gif. Boooooo to that!

I'm still being patient, and hoping for the best!
  19. Welcome Jenn! Yes, the people on this site are fabulous...not sure what I'd do without all the great advice!

Picking your resort is honestly going to be THE hardest part about this whole shebang. I literally searched and researched and was online pretty much non-stop for 4 months before I finally settled on one. The best thing I can recommend is to contact a travel agent. If you don't already have one, there are great TAs on this site (see banner) who know all the ins and outs of destination weddings. Tell the TA your wants/needs, and have them give you a pro and con list, and approximate price. That, for me, was what finally settled it.

    Good luck!!

  20. LOL!! Aren't they ridiculous sometimes??

I asked my FI how involved he wanted to be in the wedding planning. He said "I did my job, the rest is up to you". Of course, by "his job" he meant proposing and giving me a ring :)

So, I took him at his word, and didn't talk to him at all about what I'm planning. I sent out invitations last month, along with an informational letter, and our website link. A week ago or so, he comes up to me and says "We have a website?? Why didn't you tell mehuh.gif" So of course, I remind him that he said he didn't want to help plan, etc etc, and he says his friends thought it was hilarious that he didn't know we had a website.

Men...can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em!

Oh I bet that drives you bonkers!!!

I've actually lost 20 pounds since December. I'm doing it verrrrry slowly (about a pound a week, sometimes less). I joined Weight Watchers, and am really just making better food choices and controlling portions. I haven't started working out...that's my next step! Now that the weather is getting nicer, I hope to start taking long walks after work.
