Jen and Coreys Royal PDC review- April 29th/2010
msglave replied to jenconrad's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Cut pics, Jen! I love the one with you guys eating before the wedding, lol! Thanks for still hanging around to answer our questions! -
O.K.-I did a quick email search and am copying and pasting what my WC sent about cocktail hr. "Ok the cocktail hour is $10 per person for champagne and cold canapés or $15 for champagne with cold and hot canapés or $20 for open bar with cold and hot canapés. You do get all the canapés listed, you don’t have to choose." Also, the cocktail hr. is confirmed for the central garden. Why the hell are we paying extra for open bar and everyone is already paying money to stay and money for the reception? if I had to do it all over again, I would not plan to have my wedding here. Sorry ladies, but I'm not feeling very positive right now. I emailed Julie about moving to the gazebo beach. Keep your fingers crossed!

Julie said they usually want you to have it in the same place, but since there's a wedding there, we can't have it. I'm not even sure that I want to have it anymore :-( Quote: Originally Posted by jenconrad msglave - the beach i was taking about is on the gran porto side of the pier that splits the two resorts beaches. One night there were three receptions on the beach at the same time, one infront of the gazebo, one on central beach and on on pelicanos beach. They all had djs and they all were loud and having a great time! If I had to pick a beach I would pick the gazebo beach as it isnt as close to all the beach chairs. They all are far enough apart though that it should be a great time in all locations! They really do have lots of weddings at the same time but i cant see them putting a cocktail in the garden closest to the gazebo at the same time. Also if you are not happy with this they will do their very best to change things jsmcan- the whole wc thing was so crazy and unprofessional with the us coordinators it broke my heart! Luckily the wcs at the royal really sympathized and switched me back to the royal gazebo for 6pm. Unfortunatly then the 5pm gazebo bride flipped that there was another wedding after hers (she didnt have a cocktail or anything) so i got moved to 4pm at the royal gazebo, which hilariously was the original time and place I had when I booked last year! Thanks for the reassurance but not feeling very positive :_-( I'm getting ready to email my WC to see if the gazebo beach is available. I may be able to find the post if I look hard enough... It was a few posts back. If you go to Jesmcan's website, she posted their photos. Personally, lighting or not, I don't like the way it looks.

You basically get tables setup for the party. The beach reception is only for your party so that's what makes it private. What makes it really bad is that we were thinking about having a cocktail hour and they said we would have to have it in the garden because of the wedding. I'm wondering how close these two (garden & gazebo) are. Then, I found out that both receptions would be at the beach at the beach at the same time. Ours is at Pelicano's beach and my WC said theirs is at a different section of the beach. I don't know how far or close these are but I do not want to see/hear someone else's party! Booooooo! Does anyone even know what the beach is like right by Pelicano's? I hope it's not really tight like some of the pics I've seen. She gets those clamps that they use to fit your dress if it's too big at bridal salons to clamp it tighter lol. (oh and its a brown skirt lol) Then I look in the mirror and I have an 80's high ponytail to the side and i look jacked up haha. I turn around and they have already started walking down the aisle and stuff with music. I tell them to wait cuz i'm not ready and lookin busted, but they wont listen to me lol and MOH wont help me look better. They wouldnt even give me my veil or bouquet! Bah hahaha Anyone else have weird dreams? LOL!!! Too funny. I had been wearing my hair really short (like a boy) for the past few years. Once my FI proposed, I started to grow it out and now it's really thick and full with nice length. I had a dream just the other night that I cut all of my hair off. I wasn't even upset in the dream until I thought about how he would react, LOL! The prettiest beach spot I thought was on the Porto side of the pier the way it looked with the giant palm trees was beautiful! Thanks for the review Jen! I'm glad everything worked out for you. I can't wait to see the pics :-) My WC told me our reception is on the beach by Pelicano's. What do you mean when you say the Porto side? Do you know what the beach by Pelicano's is like? Thanks!

Hi Lenore. Welcome to the forum. You will find so much help here. There are tons of beaches! Maybe you can decide on where you want to visit (North America, Mexico, South America) then decide on a beach.

Wedding Colors--What Goes With Purple?
msglave replied to karielk's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
It depends on how bright the purple is. Pink or pewter would look good. -

Should've put a guest limit on the invitations!!

They said "You must not want anyone there , it's too expensive". Now it seems not only are they going but they are bringing extra guests!!! Initially I assumed our guest count would be around 60 people. I come from a huge Dominican family so most of those guest were mine. I sent out around 95 invites(this was cut down from 150) just knowing that I would get a lot of nos. Well to my surprise people are saying yes and oh by the way I'm also bringing the kids and MIL so that she can babysit. WTH!!!!!! Or my bridesmaid who RSVP'd for 2 but I find out from her Mom, who was not invited that she is also now coming. ? Or my personal fave, my Cousin's Wife who kindly told me her Husband can't go but its her plus 5. I was so upset that I was venting at a friend's BBq yesterday (he RSVP'd for him and his wife) and he overheard me so he decided to tell me that they're bringing their son and a Nanny, but not to worry she's not going to the wedding. Ok so when was he gonna tell me this? I appreciate that people love us enough to want to spend our wedding with us. What I'm having an issue with is that people are not using common sense to ask me is it ok for me to bring guest #3 or 4 or in some cases 5. Or that they are RSVPing for one amount and are planning to show up with another. Like I said my estimate at the beginning was 60 and right now with the maybe's its at 103 people. Needed to vent!!! I fell you on the ka-ching. You should ask your cousin's wife, "So, are your friends gonna be okay with you coming to the wedding without them? or so how did you friends react when you told them they wouldn't be able to attend the wedding? or Are your friends gonna be okay hanging out while you're at the wedding? LMAO! The nerve. I would be it right back on her." Quote: Originally Posted by stachr I totally know what you mean about people having common sense. That's awesome! What would make them believe they were even invited? Wow! -
Sand ceremony picture frame box

Let us know how it turns out! -

I really don't have a preference as long as they get there, LOL! Some of the ladies have said if the resort overbooks, the guests who book online will be the first ones who will dropped.

Okay ladies, I need to vent. One of my FI coworkers told him Thursday that she had been trying to get in touch with the travel agent for about two weeks and her calls have yet to be answered. WTF? I had to call and show my butt. When I called, I found out that she was on her first day of vacation. I wasn't even aware that she was going to be out and wasn't going to be able to book during that time. Also, the prices of the trip have gone up over the past couple of weeks so of course the trip for my FI's coworker has increased. Next, I've been in touch with Ivan (DJ) over the past month or so. He's been really great at answering questions. About a week or so ago, I emailed him the changes we want to make to the contract and told him we had the down payment for the dance floor and services and guess what? I haven't heard from him. I even sent a follow up email and still haven't heard from him. Why is it hard to give people money? I think I know which song I want to come in to but I may have to shorten it. I don't want to cut off my favorite part of the song because it's later. Does anyone know about how long it takes to enter the gazebo? Glad to have you all!

I've learned so much from this thread (it helped me decide on the location), so thanks already for all the great info you all have given me. A couple questions for you all: 1) Which photographers did you all decide on? I'm kicking around like 5 right now. 2) Has anyone worked with Rebekah? She's my stateside WC, and she's been super fast. So excited to get to know you all! Welcome to the forum! We are still working on our photographer. Julie is my WC and she's been wonderful! Quote: Originally Posted by Lisa DSO Welcome Kerri! Lisa, you can print your labels and take them with you. Carrying the water on may be so heavy (and could make you pay extra.) You can swipe water at the resort or get it from Walmart. You can put your labels on there.
