That US website you posted said your marriage is legal so it is. Good for you that you found a solution you're happy with! Where are you going for your late honeymoon?

Newbie here. Wedding Apr 2011 The Royal in Cancun
msglave replied to andreabrazil's topic in Newbies!!
Hi Andrea! Welcome to the forum. My FI and I stayed at The Royal in Cancun in 2008 and loved it. Beware of the timeshare sharks! -

In fact I bought the one with the one shoulder drape for myself to wear to the rehearsal dinner. Did you order your flowers through the resort? I don't remember seeing those colors in the catalog.

The Royal SHOULD scale back (some resorts like Secrets will ONLY have one wedding a day), but I guess they can and will continue to triple book since we all keep signing up like wildfire ;-) LOL! I thought that was the funniest thing in the world. I agree Lisa, however, it is good that the brides are enjoying themselves and having the weddings of their dreams! Her dress was very similar to mine and she said it was soooooo hot. Oh well! Lady Di, what happened when DH went to clerk on Friday?

Congrats and Welcome! You can do a search for LV and should find threads unique to your area! Good luck!

Congrats and Welcome! If you look at the top of the screen, there's a link to some of the Travel Agents that specialize in DWs. The ladies who have used them have nothing but great things to say about them. Maybe one of them can help you? Good luck!

Congrats and Welcome! This forum is my new BFF! You'll find everyone so helpful. Enjoy!

So, occasionally I look at The Royal PDC on Tripadvisor to see what people are saying. A few of the recent posts were complaining of all of the weddings/receptions and called it a wedding factory. One person even complained about all of the loud guests from Texas. I was thinking-I know whose party that was! LOL! I love it! We Royal Brides Rock!!!!!

But with planning the wedding, writing and house hunting I did get a bit overwhelmed at one point. But we made it over that hurdle. Congrats on making it midway through your MA. You'll be finished before you know it! This is EXACTLY what I am doing right now. So overwhelming!

We got engaged Feb 7, 2009 and set December 1st, 2010 as our wedding date with the hope that I'd be able to finish my PhD thesis before then, but the wonders of biology, it's just not going to happen. We got our STDs out and website up and running last November as we wanted to give people time to save. Unfortunately even with all that time, there's still a few people who just aren't going to make it. Guess that's just the way it goes with DW and I agree that it's always amazing to find out who really supports your decisions and who will find every excuse in the book why they can't come. As for planning, I finally got my dress ordered May 13th, and we've currently got 28 people including us booked. Now it's a matter of figuring out what FI is wearing and designing our rings this summer. We did the same thing. We were engaged January 1, 2009 and are planning the wedding for December 11, 2010. One of the reasons was so that I could finish my dissertation. We gave everyone a heads up but we will have people who can't make it too.

Thank you ladies!!!!! I am actually subscribed to chocolate brides but that does not address what my issue is. Most of the ladies on that thread are/have worn wigs, weaves or braids. Also, it is not specific to the Playa del Carmen area so that thread hasn't been very helpful to me. As for as the makeup, I actually use MAC products, but I was just wondering if anyone had used someone who specializes in brown tones. I don't really want to do my own makeup for the wedding day. This is so frustrating!

We are just going to get our marriage certificate translated then leave it alone. We are married. Nobody can tell us that we are not. That's right Di!!!!! This does suck! Once you get it translated, will they change your name in your county? Quote: Originally Posted by RunningBride24 Alright girls, so I've decided to have two entrees for the reception dinner. Of course I would give the Royal a count ahead of time, but then the servers will know who gets what and I do not have to force everyone into a seating chart. What do you think of this, would it work? Or is it not a good idea? Also, how many per table? I thought 6 but since I'm WC-less right now I couldn't verify. RunningBride, You could buy the little colored circle/seals and put them on the placecards. You don't have to put the table numbers on them. That way the guests can just pick them up and place them wherever they sit. The pink and blue cards should work too. Before she left, my WC suggested 8 to a table to avoid being cramped. One of the previous brides could probably answer this.

Hi Ladies, I am really starting to worry about how I am going to wear my hair for the wedding. My hair is extremely thick and it is completely natural (unrelaxed). When I wet it, it curls up really tight and gets even thicker (if that makes sense). I am looking for a stylist in the Playa del Carmen area who has experience handling my type of hair. I am thinking about a straw set or something like that. I would prefer to go with someone who has experience not someone who think they'll be able to handle it. I know a lot of ladies will choose to wear micros/weave, etc., however, when my FI proposed, I had no hair. Since then, I've grown it out and want to wear my own hair. I am also looking for a makeup artist who has experience with brown brides. This is how my hair looked when my FI proposed (January, 2009) Natural hair (September, 2009) Inspiration Any and all advice/suggestions are appreciated!!!!! Thanks!

I hope everything turns out for you!!!!! I would be soooooooooooo pissed! Question ladies, I'm sorry if this is a repeat. Do you have to pay a vendor's fee for a hair stylist or make-up artists to come to your room? I need to start deciding on my hair and makeup. I'm so worried that no one will know how to manage my hair. It is very thick and not relaxed.
