I have now settled on the Riu Vallarta for November 2010. I just wanted to thank all the brides and family members who posted on this thread. You definitely helped with the decision and you make it all seem much more real! Thanks!

I did P90X for a while too. It is great but a huge time commitment and Tony really can get on your nerves! My new favourite workout program is Chalean Extreme, which has more rest days and shorter workouts than P90X. And I have never been in such good shape in my life.

Hey, I too, had this decision recently. I actually selected the Riu Vallarta, which is the sister property to the Riu Jalisco. I also read the trip advisor reviews before booking, which was a bit daunting. But in the end I decided the Riu Vallarta was my best bet because of the value, the reputation and the location. It seemed to me that travel agents, in particular, love the Riu properties, so I figure that has to count for something. They are not going to send you somewhere awful where you and your guests are going to be miserable. If there is a theft at the property right now, I would expect the person would be caught and fired or otherwise moved on by the time you get there! Its just bad for business so the Riu people aren't going to take it lightly. I'd recommend reading the thread about the Riu properties in this forum, it is super helpful and the reviews are generally positive. Good luck with your choice!

I think having an honourary BM is a great idea. Depending on who attends my wedding, I may do it myself. They can be assigned tasks to help out on the day of, and help you get ready. I think it sounds like fun! With respect to the sand ceremony I know I am going to have a tough sell as well. Good luck!

I have been wondering about this. I was starting to think it was just an excellent excuse to take another trip to the beach. But I emailed Misti, I really hope she gets back to me. The photo she took that was posted in the thread looks amazing!

I totally understand. My fiancee's best friend's fiancee drives me, and everyone else who knows her, nuts! I cannot imagine spending more than a couple of hours with her, let alone a whole week. However her fiancee is a GM so there is no way around it. She has to be invited. I just hope to put as many people between us as a buffer as possible. I have heard a rumour that she won't have enough vacation days to come. Lets hope so. I think most people would understand that a really big engagement party does not necessarily mean an invite, especially to a destination wedding, if you aren't close. Perhaps you can invite her to your AHR if you're having one? Then it would only be a couple of hours. One thing I've noticed is that people always get excited about the idea of going away, especially when drinking. But when they start budgeting time and money they will start to have reservations and won't even be able to come.
