Also, for dancing I was hoping to go to the Club (desires) It doesn't open until 9 or 10 but when it first opens nobody will be there except for my guests so hopefully we can talk to the DJ there about personalizing it a little bit I will bring my IPod for our first dance. Maybe tipping him will help? I may eventually decide to upgrade my package but for right now that is the plan I don't think I can budget the extra $2000.

I feel the same. I don't mind being split up or having a less than private reception. I just can't pay that much more for cocktails and dinner when they are included. I have talked to Ana and she said that if we didn't mind splitting up into two or so groups of 10ish then we could talk to the manager the morning before about getting into the restaurant together. Hopefully this will work.

How to order from Duosheng
EmmaGaussoin replied to Jennyco116's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I ended up ordering from Gianinarbridal but I was very seriously thinking about ordering from Duosheng. If you email them they respond very quick and provide great information about all your questions. They work hard to get what you like. They have options about higher or lower quality material and the price varies between them. You complete your order via email I'm pretty sure and I think they have paypal. I was impressed with the customer service and their quick responses. I hope that helps! -

Although I keep asking her how much more video and she hasn't answered that yet. Other things I have asked to trade, though, such as the hair and make-up, she has said the package is not allowed to be altered. Seems crazy to me! So, maybe you are right...if you are persistent , she will eventually give in I am getting there five days before my wedding, so I am hoping that in person, things will be a lot easier to straighten out! I am hoping also! I'm glad you got to at least get more video in exchange for your photography but the little things seem like they would be easier to exchange. I have read from other forums that it wasn't until they met with the WC before the wedding that she allowed them to exchange. Hopefully this will be the same for us!

I know its an extra $60 for more than 20 guest and i hate that part, I'm planning on having 40-60 guest. I also asked Ana if I could exchange the cocktail party for extra guest or maybe even for the rehearsal dinner and she said the package is what it is... I find that odd. Hope the planning runs smoothly I have been having the same problem with Ana (not being able to exchange items in the package). I know at other Dreams resorts such as Tulum, the WC will exchange items that you do not use or want in your package. It might be because Ana is new and isn't comfortable yet but hopefully she will get more comfortable with experience by the time my wedding comes. I am bring down real touch bouquets and I wanted to exchange the package bouquet and bout for getting my hair done at the salon, which is cheaper than the flowers. Oh well, such is life I guess. We'll see what happens next October.

Who else is unemployed and frustrated?
EmmaGaussoin replied to jk1101's topic in Just venting or funnies
I understand all of your stresses. Both my FI and I are medical students. Not only do I have loans from undergrad but lets just say medical school is not cheap! My parents were going to help us out with the wedding, they were taking a second out on their house but with the housing market drop they couldn't get it appraised for what they needed. So we might be on our own. FI's parents don't have a lot of money and just bought a new house so aren't able to help much either. It is just so hard and stressful! Good luck to you all! -
I think Dreams Tulum looks beautiful also. I had a tough time deciding between Dreams Tulum and the new Riviera Cancun so I emailed both WCs and I decided based on availability! Tulum only had my date for 11 am or 2 pm where as Riviera Cancun had the perfect 5 pm that I was looking for! Good luck and happy planning!

Anyone DIY all their flowers?
EmmaGaussoin posted a topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I am planning on making my own bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages. Has anyone done this? I found that I can get real touch flowers at http://www.foliagenblooms.com and Silk Flowers, Silk Wedding Flowers, and Floral Supplies. Between the two sites I can find all the flowers I am looking for. Have others found this more cost effective than just ordering from someone such as Shavon's silks or Webideas.com? I am just nervous to spend the money and later find out I am not creative enough to design my own. Any help or personal experience would be appreciated! -

It is a bit confusing but I hope to get it all straightened out in the next few days!!! Will you PLEASE email me these links as I am new and can't open them but still am interested! I would definitely check out Dreams. My fiance and I are both medical students and on a tight budget and we think this is our best option. It will be a vacation for us and our guests. We are only getting the free package that is included if you book 5 rooms at any category. If a private reception is not important to you you can just eat at the restaurants on site and just not sit all together with your guests. Plus there is a nightclub on site that I have read is usually pretty empty to get some dancing going with your group. You can upgrade to a package that does include a private reception and is still not too expensive. It can be done cheaply on the Yucatan Peninsula so don't worry about what the planner told you. Dreams is also under $300 per night and from what I have read the food sounds excellent. If you do want to have adult only you can look into Secrets which is from the same company as Dreams just a little more expensive (which is why I decided on Dreams). Good luck and welcome to the forum. It has helped me a TON just from reading posts from other people.

I am also curious about which all-inclusive people would recommend. I love dreams but I can't decide between Cancun, Tulum or Cancun Riviera. I also really like the Secrets resorts. Does anyone have any information on these. I know they are similar to Dreams on Adults-only but what about their weddings and are they more expensive?

It's a small wedding on the beach and since we aren't doing any extra dinners, they said that they would make reservations (even though they don't take reservations) for us at one of the restaurants we pick to make sure we can get seated all together and that would be our wedding dinner. No extra costs since we are eating at one of the included restaurants. By far, it's the cheapest for us. We also got married at city hall in Chicago this past September so that we don't have to go through all the legal stuff and blood work there. Our guests won't know the difference since the ceremony is exactly the same, just not legal. About how many people will be in your wedding. I am asking because I too would like to do the free package and hopefully get dinner reservations. I just would like to know how large of a party they will do that for. Thanks!

Thanks everyone! There most likely will not be kids at my wedding, however, I would like the best atmosphere for a wedding party. I don't want to bring a group to Secrets if it is mostly couples and honeymooners just trying to enjoy their quiet time at an adult-only resort. I have looked at many of the dreams and secrets resorts and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in reviews. I would just like to know if any one has an opinion on on resort over the others. Thanks again!

Hi Everyone! I am new and trying to get some information before I book my wedding. My name is Emma I am planning on getting married Oct. 2010 I would like to be married in Cancun or Riviera Maya. I like the Dreams and Secrets resorts but I am having trouble deciding on which resort. If any of you have been to more than one of these resorts or just wants to give some advice it would be appreciated! Thanks.
