  1. Oh Michele, This is an awful story, and I can identify with some aspects! I'm not one for being silent ;o) so I'd probably tell her exactly how you feel about her now, and exactly how you felt about her when she deserted you. That's basically what she did in your time of need, and that's why we have friends - so that we can lean on them when needed. I would keep her NOT invited to your wedding - but that's my mother's stubborn nature coming out! It took me a long time to realize who my real friends are versus who I was a really good friend to, with no reciprocation. I always gave 150% and only ever received 20% if that - it took my FI really opening my eyes. I don't waste my time on part-time friends anymore, my time is too precious, I'm too precious and so are you. ) Your wedding is supposed to be Family and good friends in the present, not those you used to be good friends with. I have NO PATIENCE for those who saunter back into your life when it suits their schedule. Friends should be there when you need them, especially if you've been going through medical problems and a breakup and a job loss. I know I am a little cynical, but this story lies close to my heart and as you can see I'm still a little bitter... I have friends I haven't seen physically for years, but I talk to them on the phone once a week and we email all the time, they received a wedding invite! Do definitely what's in your heart, but remember when using your heart you tend to get hurt, and some of my biggest heartbreaks in my life were from those I thought were true friends. You need to do what's best for you, and you should be able to rely on your friends at all times. I hope it works out whatever your decision is! Wow, I feel like chocolate cake now, lol, that was a good therapy session!

  3. Well Hello Ladies, I've been out of it for a while so I have some catching up to do!! Thanksgiving weekend really did me in! I'm sick as a dog...one good thing about being sick is I only had one small helping of Turkey dinner - and couldn't taste a damn thing! ( Trying to get back on my feet and back into the swing of things...including the elliptical but I'll have to slowly work back up to that. Right now time for a nap with the baby so I'll chat to you all soon, can't wait to catch up on all the happenings I missed this weekend! Any Newbies? WELCOME! Erin - you are wonderfully OCD, I love it! The Re-done list is great! and I love the link to the "something blue" I so want to do that, cute idea - but I'm wearing wedge flip flops so I'll have to figure out where the stickers will go! Maybe on the sides? So far I've only caught up on the last couple posts!! lol Time for bed! April 9 - (kimmyg) Kimmy from Cincinnati - RPRM April 9 - (Chicken764) Martine from Casselman - Grand Palladium-Punta Cana April 10 - (jerseykitten) Michele from Jersey (Central Jersey by Six Flags) - Jamaica April 10 - (Shan13) Shannon from little rock, arkansas (originally from St.Louis) - Las Vegas April 13 - (caribbeanlover) Tracy from Montreal - Punta Cana April 16 - (echo2_62) Meghan from Calgary - Puerto Aventuras, Mexico April 24 - (jerzygirl85) Joanna from Jersey City - Dreams Tulum, Mexico April 24 - (GregsBride) Christina from Washington, DC - Jamaica April 28 - (ebredhaw) Erin from Cincinnati - Dreams Punta Cana April 29 - (SuzyQ76) Suzanne from Calgary - Grand Riviera Princess, Mexico
  4. I had a lot of grief and grumbling about choosing a DW, well to be fair I shouldn't say grief and grumbling but down right instant "NO's" to going to Mexico...and Mexico specifically. It makes me very sad that people will listen to the present and past media hype and totally dismiss a chance to visit one of the most beautiful spots in the world - But, my response is always the same: I completely understand your reservations about traveling in general and/or traveling to Mexico - we do not want any of our guests to feel uncomfortable at our wedding, you know we would absolutely love to have you there with us on our special day but this has always been our dream and we will think of you while we're there! My FI and my families are a funny blend - his are all world travelers (His father is from the Philippines) and my family are pretty much all country bumpkins with the exception of a few! I think everyone on this forum has received the finance speech - and I totally understand, I'm a budget bride trying to keep things manageable for us too!! I find myself praying that there won't be any media coverage of any "bad happenings" in Mexico just so no more family members get nervous and back out!! The worst excuse I've had: My brother who has lived in the USA for the past 10 years (who is walking me down the isle since my dad isn't with us anymore) decided on SEPTEMBER 11th that due to the hijacking in Cancun recently he will not be taking the rest of his family with him (his daughters were my flower girls and his wife my photographer) Now he told me this on September 11th...he was in the States at the time of this awful day that everyone will forever remember. I freaked, and told him do not use that excuse on this day you can use any excuse but not that one. So HE is still coming but has informed me that he will not leave the resort and will not join us on any excursions - good thing I love him, but he's going to miss out on a lot of good times!! So I hope it all works out for e everyone, I know I still have my fingers crossed that people will change their mentalities, but in the end it's our decision and it's what we want - if it was just going to be FI and I we would still do the same thing! Good Luck and stick with your heart - that's what will keep you happy in the end. Whatever you feel you need to go with your gut, if you need your mom there and you can't do it without her then you may have to change your plans - but if changing your plans is out of the question: there's your answer.

I just wish I had the time to devote to it, it's really hard with a baby... But I'm still doing a lot of the work outs I learned from P90X - the ab work out!! OMG I love it, it's absolutely crazy!!!! If you can really devote yourself and work out the hardest you've ever worked out before you will definitely see amazing results - It's all about pushing yourself to the ultimate limit to get the ultimate results!! Tony did annoy me after a while!! lol

  7. I bought my dress really early too...and I have seen absolutely soooo many stunning dresses that probably put mine to shame, But...it's still everything I wanted in it's own simplicity, and when I try it on it's totally "Me". **Dresses are like Men - there are so many different types, styles and colors you could try them all but you just have to believe in your choice and stick with it!! lol**
  8. Well Thank You Tracy you have twisted my rubbery arms!! lol Going to make brownies right now, and if I could mail some to ya I would!! Good job on your workout BTW, I will have to work double hard tomorrow - especially because of the weekend we have in store for us! I wish I had the metabolism of my FI, I swear he can just think about working out and he slims and tones right up nice and tight!! Drives me nuts!!!
  9. MEGHAN!!!!! Not sure where you live in the city but I'm willing to drive to a central point for Yoga!! Have you tried Hot Yoga? It's killer but in such a good way! I love it!

You wouldn't believe the number of Maritmers living up here- we joke all the time that we came all of this way just to end up hanging out with people from back home all the time! Is it like that for you guys too? That is totally like us!!! Our Thanksgiving dinner this weekend will even be all Maritimers!! It's soooooo funny! Well here in Calgary today it was pretty cold, snowed off and on all day - I'm not looking forward to the winter - I'm a sun seeker!! Can't wait till April 2010!! lol Tracy - it is such a small world!!! Does your FI still have family in Dartmouth?? To all Ladies - I have slacked bad today, was on the go with the baby and didn't do any work out...not to mention I really want to bake brownies right now...have a bad craving for some brownies, even FI wants brownies - this could be bad!! lol
  11. I went with Riviera Maya too, I think it looks more exotic - I think it's probably the Spanish form to write/speak it?? Maybe...

We'll be in Halifax for a visit just before the wedding and we'll fly out of Halifax to Cuba with most of the family. We've been in the NWT for over two years now, so even November back home is sounding good to me at this point. I load up on seafood whenever I get home too! My MOM is from PEI!!! still have a ton of family there! St Louis (past Tignish - aka the boonies!) There may even be a few family members willing to leave the Island to come to Mexico...but that may change!! I'm a Prince Andrew baby!!! So we're rivals! Although I didn't rival with anyone!! lol The view of Hali is definitely a great view - agreed totally!! lol Wholly NWT huh! Are you planning on staying there for a lot longer? It must get a little cold ) Such a small BDW World, I love it!!

I haven't heard the final recording yet but I can't wait!! I'm doing a wedding-y song, Ronan Keating - This I promise you. My exact words to the guitar/singer were: Make it acoustic guitar only, slower, dirtier and cooler!! lol SO hopefully the vision in my head will work out!!! I LOVE your choice I think that will sound awesome!!!

Straightening my hair was a chore, and it's not even that curly lol. One good thing about moving. Where are you from in NS, SuzyQ? Melidell - Are you a Fellow Nova Scotian too!!! There are a few of us on here! I'm from the Darkside, I mean Dartmouth: right across our Goldeny-green Gate Bridges (the MaKay and the MacDonald) from Halifax!! Born and raised, my FI as well! We moved to Alberta 2 years ago and love it here, but all the Fam's and a lot of friends are still residing in Hali-town!! lol I'm heading back east in Nov, and really scared of gaining weight, last time I went home I came back and my wedding dress wouldn't zip up for some reason!! I have to Hit the Treadmill Hard while in Hali!! Where are you from? Are you living there now? I miss it and I can't wait to have some fresh seafood and to see the ocean - even if it is in NOVEMBER!!! BRRRR.....

Ultimate Pilates Workouts » Pilates DVD | Exercise Workout Videos Wholly crap jerseykitten, YOU are AWESOME!!! I hadn't heard about the Brazilian Keratin Straightening!! I actually had the Japanese straightening done years ago and it didn't work - It definitely made my hair easier to style but I still had to flat iron it daily! So like how much are we talking here - is it comparable to the Japanese product pricing? I'll definitely have to see if any salons offer it!! I'm sooooo excited!! BTW you deserve a peanut butter and jam day tomorrow, reward yourself! Tanks for all the links and info too! I have to get off the computer now, my eyes are going buggy but it's definitely coffee material for the morn! Have a great night ladies!! Sleep well!!

That just seems so much more like me to do I'm a freak Way to go on the workout too b.t.w!! Suzy - You and I should totally try and get together for classes somewhere!! And I totally love your modifications to the diet. Honestly though, I just don't know if my body could be sustained on that little food. I have nothing against trying it, but I have also experienced the downside of my limits too (yes ladies, I blacked out while standing up at a girlfriends wedding... twice). Our thanksgiving this year is going to be RIDICULOUS!! So far we have 18 people coming over and there are still some people who haven't replied. This is most definitely NOT the time to start watching what I eat. As for the curly hair, or really wavy hair, yes it is natural and 99% of the time is a pain in the ass! There's that whole if you have it one way you want the other? Well I can have curly OR straight and I want STRAIGHT! LOL! But having grown up in southern ontario I've experienced some unpleasant humidity and I would still say that April in Mexico wasn't bad at all. Make sure that you've got a good gel and hairspray. I found that mouse was too gentle to keep the frizz down and the curls in good shape. I don't think I even tried to straighten it once to be honest. Not worth the headache most of the time. Although it has me wondering what I'll do for the wedding Know whatcha mean!! I love the feeling of my mouth after a good dental clean!! lol I'm a freak too! That does seem like very little food, I commend jerseykitten for being able to do it! By the amount of food I consume I should consider myself lucky but I will attempt to curb my eating habits - I pretty much have to - I do not want spillage over the strapless dress!! lol No Passing out!! you have to be really careful of that!!! I think FI needs you conscious for at least a little while, watch out for the tequila the culprit too!!... You have your hands full for Thanksgiving!! Glad it's you!! lol, we're going to a friends house, tradition, so I only have to make 2 pies, but I do Christmas dinner at our house for all our friends who can't make it home or with family for the Holidays, there are usually a few meals happening over the Christmas weeks - everyone is well fed!! Funny thing is, I always gain my weight in the summer and loose it in the Winter, even with all the Holiday eating! Who wears a bathing suit for Christmas anyway? I'm also with you on the pain in the a$$ hair!! Mine used to be one big a$$ frizz ball on the best of days, but Alberta's dryness is heaven for curly/wavy hair!! NS Humidity = Alanis Morrisette's first album she didn't want anyone to know she recorded!! lol Big "early 90's" curl, oh yeah!! Thanks for the tips on gel and spray! I'll have to start experimenting with product now. I think for my wedding I'm just going to do a low chignon bun loose and sort of natural....not messy looking but not structured either, so some of my curls will definitely come through! I have to wear it up, because I think I'm going to melt, my hair is really long and thick, I want to wear it down but it'll prob look like I jumped in the pool in about an hour!! There will be no flat iron in mexico!! ) Still haven't decided about flowers or veil?? I could use some help on that one ladies!! Sorry everyone for rambling I don't get to talk to adults too often! Since this is the Get Fit thread, Can't wait to do my workout tomorrow!!! Back and biceps and more elliptical!!
  17. Hmmmmm, this is fun! 1976: -U2 formed! due to a post it note placed on the notice board of a Dublin School by the drummer! -Jimmy Carter is nominated for US president, but I'm Canadian.... -Toronto Blue Jays are created! that's Canadian ;o) -Apple Computer is formed! -IBM introduces the first Laser Printer: IBM 3800, cool -The first megamouth shark is discovered off Oahu in Hawaii, crazy -The chimes of Big Ben stopped when part of the chiming mechanism disintegrated through metal fatigue. 18. Awe, your babies are beautiful!! Have fun on your trip!!
  19. I like #3, #1, and lastly #5 in that order!! Hope you can make a decision, and like a lot of the other comments on here, I didn't quite get that "one" feeling, but I knew as soon as I put on my dress it was the most flattering and the style I liked on me!!
  20. Sorry I didn't even think about your Halloween pic!!! That looks awesome too! ;o) My problem is I cook too much...LOVE to cook, all the time, my life revolves around nap time and meal time!! And when I cook it's enough to feed an army!! Put it this way - I had a surprise Bday party for FI this weekend, had about 10-12 people over and we are still eating leftovers!! lol made over 150 meatballs, noodles, chicken, shepherds pie, tea biscuits, huge pot of toscana soup, salads...ugh, I went way overboard - wish you all lived in AB you could come on over for supper!! lol Speaking of which, gotta go make supper, I'm tired of leftovers!!!

Tracy check this site out for mugs -min order is 12 and they deliver to Canada - I love them but they're still a little too expensive for me with 50 guests: There are all kinds of different sizes and colors you just have to go through all the choices: Custom Travel Mug, Custom Travel Mugs, Custom Printed Travel Mugs I got the link from another gal on this forum so Thank You!! but I forget who!
  22. Tracy - your in-laws-to-be definitely live in an extremely beautiful part of the world. Lunenburg is awesome, and tranquil and beautiful! We always take little day trips there just to get away from the city! Well when we lived there!! We are both from the Darkside - Dartmouth, NS right across the bridge from Halifax. Both city kids ) I'm actually heading back there in Nov for a while - visiting my brother in the states first then flying back to NS for a visit then I'll be back to Alberta for Christmas. I find it hard and lonely not working - not that I get bored - but being a stay at home Mom is really hard, hardest job I've ever done and we have a really good/easy baby!! Also I get pretty lonely with all of our family back home so I try to make it there twice a year for a couple months, as long as the FI can do without us!! I can't wait to check out the deals in the States!! Looking for a Dollar Tree!!! Yay!!
  23. Meghan - I love the curling mention!! Sooooo Canadian! I have a ton of friends who do it back home in NS and they love it! I've never tried, but like you said it'll get you out of the house!! I LOVE yoga, I go to Hot Yoga on 17th, correction: have gone to Hot Yoga on 17th...I still have like 20 classes left to use! I need to get back into the groove - it was my little piece of heaven to myself for 1.5 hours, I miss it!! You're probably the best looking person with heat stroke that I've seen!! lol I tan easily too although you wouldn't believe how pasty I am now!! It also looks like you have natural curly hair too!! how was it in Mexico, harder to handle? how did the humidity affect it?
  24. OK, so I did 40mins on the elliptical and got my heartbeat up to a nice calorie burning pace while I watched TV (not treehouse)!! did 4 sets of abs - I LOVE doing abs just like I LOVE going to the dentist, I'm weird did 3 sets of triceps did 5 mins of leg extensions (before the elliptical because now my legs are jelly!) did four loads of laundry (in the basement of our house so 2 sets of stairs) about to start supper!! lol All while the baby is sleeping! Phew I need a nap, can't wait to try out that recipe... Jerseykitten - you too, by that wee little pic look FABULOUS!! that seems like a really low cal diet, like excessively low? I'll try it but modified, lol My Modifications: -NO LOW FAT cheese, that's against my beliefs, lol has to be extra old cheddar... -quadruple the amount of sour cream and I think I can work with everything else!! lol -hopefully salsa is a freebie, it usually is on most diets/low cal Thanks though, I can't wait to try it...Monday, need a full week to start and don't forget Canadians - this weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving weekend!! I'm making apple streusel pie and coconut cream pie to take to the dinner we're going to - low fat of course ;o)
  25. Ok amandseth...I don't think I could sleep at night in your house!! lol I swear, I've held every snake you can imagine, giant Madagascar hissing cockroaches, lizards, worms, millipedes...lots, but spiders, especially one's that can eat your face off!! wholly crap, and praying mantis'!!! I think I would die....my heart is racing now! lol
