  1. I love that look. What a great idea! I think sticking to chairs only would be sufficient but you could always test it out before the wedding to see how it looks!
  2. I'm assuming you're talking about your contract w/ the resort?? Basically everything they promised you verbally - make sure it's down in writing! I made sure mundane things like the TAX RATE was specified. And oddly enough, the tax rate in Mexico went up but our contract specifies that our room rates wont change regardless of changes in tax so... I think now is the time to be super picky and make sure even the most mundane details are spelled out. You really can't be too picky! Better to be annoyingly precise than leave yourself open to loopholes that could cost you big $$$!
  3. Perhaps "romantic" to him means more spiritual?? By virtue of being longer and having more symbolic gestures, that to him might mean it's more meaningful and hence romantic?? In either case, having another ceremony locally would presumably allow more friends and family to attend and maybe that's what he wants Bottom line - the fact that he wants to marry again is romantic!!!!!!!!

Yes, I believe it's called "Iglesia de San Jose." good luck!
  5. I love them! And now I will obsess about cake toppers for the next hour...

Ceiba: -choice of AI or not on premises which allows more of my guests to stay in the same place depending on their budget. -nicer beach with snorkeling and a beautiful pier. -better food -the wedding reception pictures I have seen from here seem to look nicer. -located closer to civilization but still far enough away. Other brides...is choosing the venue the worst part? I can't wait to pin one down Choosing a resort is definitely among the hardest choices! haha A major difference between these resorts is the size. Ceiba has less than 100 rooms while EPM looks to have more than 400? That will have a major impact on the "feel" of your wedding since bigger resorts could potentially have more weddings per day, however, the resources might be broader and their packages more standardized (i.e., no hassle). Ceiba gives you more leeway in terms of selecting vendors, etc. If that's important to you, you should make sure EPM does the same. Also, not sure if you have any kids coming (I'm assuming not) but EPM is an adults only resort while Ceiba allows children. In selecting a resort, price for my guests was a huge consideration to me so I would be sure your most important guests are comfortable w/ the prices you're considering. That factor alone could potentially make Ceiba are more feasible choice. Good luck!
  7. Yes there's actually a Catholic church in Pto Morelos. Here are some sites that have pics: Ruta de los Cenotes / Terrenos residenciales y comerciales Puerto Morelos Wedding Planners I can pass along the priest info if you're interested.

Kinda like how cake tasting is free... I can't decide what to do...I do want the best for my wedding day but his prices is the same as the flight to Mexico cost me! Uggghh...what to do... No, I think the $330 should always be for BOTH trial and application. Based on the rates I've been seeing, that is WAY too high...
  9. Nice!! I'm so jealous - can't wait to pick mine and SEND!! I want people to start preparing NOW and get excited like me! Congrats!
  10. Oooh, can you post your demo perhaps?!! I'm in the middle of deciding what kind of invites we want. would love to see!!!
  11. I see them. Very nice! One more thing off the list that *that* much closer to making it official! Can't wait to just PICK mine!! haha
  12. Me too - I just put the single person's name. I figured I would add the guest on the invitation, plus - wasnt sure if some people would break up in the time between the STD and invitation mailings! haha I also wanted to reserve the right to exclude "and guest" just in case wedding planning finances/circumstances changed..
  13. Cuba - very cool! Welcome and good luck w/ your planning!
  14. Nice! Palace brides seem to be very happy w/ their experiences. There are lots and lots of threads full of info for you! Welcome and happy planning!
  15. Welcome! Yes, def check out the BM / color scheme threads on the site! Lots of brides here have small weddings planned and have similar questions re: guest participation. Good luck!
  16. What a great time to be getting married in the Riviera Maya. Congratulations and welcome!
  17. Well, given all the advice, sounds like we're all in favor of inviting her. If I were you, I'd have a go-to person - someone to keep her in check or, at minimum, seated as far away from you as possible. If you have a good relationship w/ your FMIL, perhaps you can ask her to be "in charge" of your FSIL during the shower. Maybe that might ensure that she'd be civil.
  18. Unfortunately, I've never been to these locations but my suggestion is to look through Tripadvisor and other general hotel review sites (as sometimes there are wedding reviews hidden in there). I also asked around to all my friends. Although many of them didnt have information, I did talk to THEIR friends - some of whom had destination weddings - and got really great recommendations. Finally - I would call up travel agents that specialize in these hotels - many of them know the hotels very well and can answer your questions directly. Good luck!
  19. I'm betting they would most appreciate cash! I plan on giving half my tip during my next planning trip and the remainder after the wedding. Aside from that, possibly a small souvenir.
  20. I got it through my insurance at work! Basically had to sign up for renter's insurance but I got a better rate that way. You may want to check w/ your benefits department
  21. Thanks! I've been thinking about BD photogs in the NY area so I'll definitely check her out! Do you know if she has a studio or does she always do the shoots in people's homes?

  24. Congratulations!!! I did a site visit there during my last trip and it's a beautiful property. Your guests will love it!
