What are your wedding colors / wedding theme?
lalanyc replied to lalanyc's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Nice! Thanks for your responses. If you guys also have pics of your colors (or sites that inspired you), it'd be great to see them next to each other! -

Here is a link to an earlier thread w/ some info: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ography-45474/ If anyone else has worked w/ them, would love to get your input! -
I am considering a mix of Royal Blue w/ bright, popping colors like orange, yellow and red. My "theme" (if you can call it that) is Tropical Mexican. Here are my inspirations so far: Wedding Inspiration Gallery #16: Yellow, Blue, Fuschia & Plum | Wedding Colors & Inspiration Wedding Inspiration Gallery #11: Navy, Green, Sand & White | Wedding Colors & Inspiration What is everyone else doing??!

OOT bags and favours w/ pics!
lalanyc replied to EDRBride2009's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Wow, you have a great eye! Despite being "common" items, it looks like you really made it come together into a special package. Very impressive - I'm inspired! Can't wait to start mine! -
My totebags are in!

Oh, I like them!! Thanks for sharing! -
Oahu - very cool! Congratulations and welcome!

Welcome Amber! Actually, it's almost a good thing you have to wait so that you can shop around for pricing!!! That way you can be sure you're getting a good price once the tickets do become available. I've read that airlines often don't provide the best pricing until some months before the departure dates so definitely do some research!

There are tons of excellent reviews (both good and bad) on this forum. Good luck and welcome!

I was in the same boat a few months ago but ultimately decided on the Riviera Maya. Feel free to ask away! Welcome!

Congrats! It's a beautiful resort!

I had to laugh b/c this is exactly what I'm worried about!!! I had various family members that had already EMAILED THEIR FRIENDS inviting them to our wedding w/ out my knowledge. Had to send a gentle but firmly worded email explaining the exact cost per guest and the fact that we have excluded our OWN FRIENDS from the invitee list!!! Needless to say, they had to uninvite their friends... Anyhow, I'm still worried some family will try to slip in some friends so I'm giving the hotel a list of all invited guests. ONLY they will be allowed to benefit from the group rate. Ack, I'm really hoping it doesn't come to this though! Unbelievable! -

Xcaret Ecological Park Wedding

Really very beautiful and incredibly professional staff/services. I have to admit, though, the fees are on the higher end. But if it's in your budget, it would definitely buy you an truly unforgettable wedding. I understand that "Weddings in Cancun" wedding coordinators do get slight discounts so if you're interested in learning more from them, here is their site (w/ cool Xcaret pics too): Weddings in Cancun - Wedding ceremonies, receptions and honeymoon services in Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean. Patricia Lameda is one of the coordinators and she is very nice! Good luck! Oops, I forgot to mention, for the record, that the park does not allow any visitors near the wedding party. There is a separate entrance for guests and events are only allowed in certain areas once they have been closed to the public. They also allow you to only book the chapel for the ceremony (should the cocktail and reception fees are out of your budget). -

I was in the same boat - not wanting a wedding at an AI resort. My FI and I made a trip looking specifically for non-AI locations. Although we didn't choose any of these options below, they might work for you! There is a location along the Riviera Maya called Secret Jewel which could easily accommodate a party of your size. It is on the beach and is very secluded (and is not affiliated with any resort). Here is the link: Riviera Maya Weddings The Omni in Puerto Aventuras is also a good option b/c they offer both AI and non-AI rates and could accommodate most of your party (it has only about 30 rooms). They also have great service and facilities. Near the Omni in Puerto Aventuras there are several Hacienda type rentals that could potentially accommodate weddings. Guests could actually stay at the Omni and walk over to the Haciendas along the beach. Here are links to some pics: Photos Puerto Aventuras Resort Mexico Vacation Rental Listings From Puerto Rentals Photos Puerto Aventuras Resort Mexico Vacation Rental Listings From Puerto Rentals We met w/ Gina Vallarino, a wedding planner and manager of several large private properties in PA including those above. Theme: Humor/Funny Save the Date Products The Ball & Chain STD is particularly funny to me but doesnt exactly scream destination wedding!

Dear Friends & Family, As some of you may know, we (Natasha and Kenneth) are getting married!! We have decided to have a Cruise Wedding Celebration, which will double as a celebration of our wedding and a relaxing vacation! Our Wedding Ceremony and Reception will be held on the Carnival Glory cruise ship before it sets sail for the Eastern Caribbean on Sunday, April 25th, 2010 out of Miami, FL. Following the ceremony/reception, the ship will begin its 7-day voyage through the Eastern Caribbean and will return to Miami, FL on Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 (cruise information attached). You may be wondering if you are required to travel on the 7-day cruise in order to attend our wedding ceremony/reception. No, you are not, but we would love for you to join us on the 7-day cruise vacation if you are able to do so. The great thing about having the wedding ceremony/reception on the ship before it sets sail is that we are allowed to invite guests to the wedding ceremony/reception who are not able to cruise with us (referred to as non-sailing guests). We are sending this notice to give you sufficient time to budget and make travel arrangements should you decide to attend our wedding celebration. We completely understand if you are not able to join us considering the travel required and associated costs. Enclosed you will find a “Save-the-Date†magnet to remind you of our upcoming wedding date. We have also enclosed an RSVP postcard for you to fill out and mail back to us at your earliest convenience, but no later than November 6, 2009 (postage already included). This is a preliminary RSVP in order to give us an estimated headcount of guests that plan to attend the wedding ceremony/reception and guests that plan to cruise with us. Once we have an estimated headcount, we can start searching for group rates on hotel rooms in the Miami area and making plans for a “Welcome Dinner†the evening before the wedding ceremony (4/24/2010) in Miami. Please note that Carnival has a limit on the number of non-sailing guests that may attend the wedding ceremony/reception. Due to this limitation, we are not able to invite all of our friends and family. So, if you are certain that you will not be able to attend the wedding ceremony/reception, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can extend the invitation to more of our friends and family. Lastly, our travel agent has set aside a small group of staterooms/cabins on the ship for those who wish to cruise with us. These rooms are only being held until November 26, 2009 and are available on a first come, first served basis. Cruise pricing information along with our travel agent’s contact information is attached. We will be sending out formal invitations and final RSVP requests at a later date. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at: We also have a website dedicated to this occasion and will keep it updated with the latest information about our wedding celebration: Please use our website as an information resource and a way to communicate with us! We hope that you will join us for this special celebration and look forward to spending an unforgettable vacation with you and all of our closest family and friends! With love, Kenneth and Natasha WOW, that letter was EXCELLENT! You really did a nice job!

Local Mexican Gift Bags for Guests
lalanyc replied to NorthernGirl's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
I bet you can make them yourself quite easily w/ a quick trip to the local Walmart or Costco in Cancun! Might be worth asking your wedding coordinator. The trick would be finding a "Mexican" bag... perhaps at a local souvenir shop? I love the idea, btw! -
Photobooth rental in PDC?
lalanyc replied to EmenGeeRoxx's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
I wonder if it's possible to set up a little corner studio w/ rented equipment and have people take their own pics w/ say a button or whatever. My family suggested setting up a fake donkey for silly pics.... (errr, sounds funny but can you imagine!?!!). Has anyone ever seen a "do it yourself" photo studio at a wedding (instead of an actual booth)? -
DJ: Mannia Cancun - Add info, please
lalanyc replied to becks's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Some "DJing" questions for those who used Mannia: *How did they transition from one song to the next? Did they "mix" so that the beats blend in? *If songs were not a hit w/ the crowd, how quickly did they transition to another song? *For those who had multicultural weddings, how adept were they at transitioning from one culture to another? After how many songs would they switch? *For those who requested hosting functions, how good were they at talking to the guests and directing them?
