  1. Welcome to the forum! Where in Key West are you having the wedding?
  2. We're most likely doing Ocean Key Resort, seems like a really great deal. It all depends on if you want a ceremony on the beach, since they only have the pier. The view looks amazing though. We're doing a cruise to Key West and Cozumel, so this is right next to the port, which saves on transportation costs. Comparing Ocean Key Resort with the Hyatt, Ocean Key doesn't have as much of a wedding coordinator, so you may to hire more outside vendors (wedding planner, tent, linens), but I'm not sure what the Hyatt includes. Also, we found this Key West Webcam, which was really helpful in deciding our location: Key West web cams- Live Florida Keys beach cams, streaming cam, key west sunset
  3. After comparing what felt like 20 different cruise options, we booked our cruise on the Carnival Destiny for Nov 11, 2010! We ended up using destinationweddings.com, which so far has been great. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone. They are very fast with replying to your emails and try to find the best deals with what you're looking for in a trip. It was a little overwhelming at first since there are so many options, but they take care of all of the difficult stuff. I feel relieved with setting up the initial deposits and room blocks for our guests, but now we have to wait for everyone to make their deposits to fully book the room. Did anyone have issues with making sure all of their guests were booked on time? I feel like we can't finish the rest of the planning until the final bookings are done. So far we really like Key West as a wedding location over Cozumel, but still in the beginning stages of that planning.
  4. We're thinking of doing the same thing, getting married on the beach before we get on the cruise. If you want to do it through the cruise, they have a set location at each port where you can have a beach wedding around 9:30 am and then everyone boards the ship if you're going to do a reception on the ship. Through RC, they have a spot called Sunset Cove if you're cruise is leaving from Miami. They have lots of options through the cruise, or you can plan it yourself, which is sometimes cheaper.
  5. Hi everyone- So we've narrowed our options down and really like either Royal Caribbean or Carnival that stops in Key West and Cozumel. We'd like to get married in Key West, but both are only docked until about 2 pm. We were looking at mid October 2010, but are very nervous about hurricane season. What's your opinion on hurricane season and taking the chance with the date? If we set the wedding up on our own while at port, not booking it through the cruise ship I mean, and there is a hurricane, would it be very difficult to get our money back under the circumstances? Thanks for any advice!
  6. We're thinking October 2010 also. I figure there's a chance any day for rain, especially since hurricane season is from Aug to about end of November for many places.
  7. Hi everyone- My name is Allie and I'm from MA. My fiance and I just decided last week that a destination wedding is definitely for us. I was going back and forth about it and looked at a few traditional places, but it just didn't seem like us. We're looking at Oct or Nov 2010 and have narrowed it down to a long weekend in Florida or a caribbean cruise. The cruise seems to be the front runner so far since everything is all in one location and it would be ideal for a large group. Looking forward to researching and getting ideas!
