He recommended DJ Bijan with Mayan Vibes (mayanvibes.com I think) so we booked him. I'll write up a full review after my wedding in June. I hope he's good! He's actually cheaper than the resort DJ so I'm really crossing my fingers! BTW - I STILL have not heard back from Jazmin about switching my ceremony from legal to symbolic and am really starting to panic!

YES! I am getting married at the Tulum gazebo! I would love to see your/your daughter's pics - thank you! The review would be helpful as well!! I have been emailing Jazmin for the past 7 months so i know her usual delays in response but this one was flagged as URGENT! and i still have not heard back.. it's been over 2 weeks - I even copied Paloma. Boo! My TA says I NEED to get confirmation and to try again.. which I will. I'll keep emailing until I get a response I guess... crossing my fingers!

I am making 21 bags - we have 10 couples and 11 singles... the cost averaged about $20 per single and $25 per couple... not too bad! I am really happy with the decision to make them and I'm really excited for the guests to get them. My fiance, daugther, sister and I are all bringing an extra suitcase (2 total each) filled with OOT stuff. If I have to I'll give my mom some stuff to pack as well. We will have to pay about $150 to have the extra luggage. Oh well, I think it's worth it!

Air Transat - is that the same as Air Tran? that is the airline I will be flying with... crossing my fingers about the closet... ugh! For those of you who had to squish your dress in an overhead compartment... did you end up getting it steamed at the resort? How much does that cost? On another note... I still have not heard back from Jazmin or Paloma about switching my ceremony from the Legal to the Symbolic - YIKES! It's been almost 2 weeks since I asked to switch. I want to start getting things lined up to have the legal part here asap but am not sure if I should go ahead with that until I get an official OK from Jazmin. Also, if I am stuck with the legal part in Mexico - I need to get a move on getting all my documents in order and translated/apostilled. I'm starting to FREAK! Great to hear there are other ladies contemplating not doing programs... I'm still wondering myself if it's worth the hassle for a ceremony that's only 15-20 mins long... Hmmm after reading your comments regarding this I'm leaning towards not doing them... I don't need another DIY project right now

AWESOME!! Very impressive! Does anyone have something similar for Mexico (cancun/riviera maya?) -

I think that's a great idea... when I joined a hundred or so pages ago it took me forever to read through everything... I think at FAQs section would really help the newbies get info fast. How to go about that??

Our dinner is also included in the AI... but the guests also have to use one of their dinner vouchers... seems odd but also doesn't make sense to pay extra for food that is already included with the resort. We are going overboard on the OOT bags so hopefully it's received as a nice gesture to compensate for them giving up one of their vouchers for our wedding reception. Oh, one more thing... our resort offered to have a private dinner at $50/person but in that case we'd be spending more money to have the DW than doing one at home... kind of defeats part of the purpose in my eyes. However, if I had the money I would love to have the private dinner. oh well!

What to do- friend can't afford to come
swankster77 replied to ktchi's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm glad you offered to help... I had a similar situation... my little sister is in college and I asked her to be my MOH. I knew there was NO way she'd be able to afford to go without going into major debt (who can ask that of someone?!) so I offered to pay her way. She was/is extremely grateful! But ironically she has since moved in with me and I charge her minimal rent but the rent is what goes to her trip cost. Things always have a strange way of working out! Just noticed we have the same wedding day!!! -

We got back from Mexico and got married a couple of days later. In our hearts and minds, our wedding happened in Mexico...we just did "the paper work" at home. I know that once we made this decision to go this route, I was more relaxed. Hope this helps! I'm still waiting to hear back from Jazmin to make sure it's not too late to switch ceremony types. I'm already feeling better thinking about it. Which ceremony did you choose the symbolic or the renewal of vows? What is the difference? Do you get all the same amenities that come with the legal ceremony? Thanks again girls

I've run into a slight problem! UGH! Since I am divorced Jazmin told me I have to get my birth and divorce certificates both translated and apostilled... the problem is, I only have my certified birth certificate (need the long-form/uncertified copy) AND I do not have my divorce certificate (would have to drive 3.5 hours to get it) I do however have my judgement of divorce witch happens to be 8 pages long (translating is $50/pg)... so I'm looking at a grand total of $300-$600 to locate the correct documents and get them ready for me to be legally married in Mexico. BOO! So this is what I'm contemplating... getting legally married here in WI before and then doing the symbolic ceremony in Mexico and not telling anyone. How many of you have done this? Can anyone let me know what the difference between the legal, symbolic & renewal of vows ceremonies are? My wedding is only 2 months away so I need to figure this out ASAP! AAAAHHHH! Yes, I'm starting to freak out a little! If we do decide to go with the legal ceremony as planned I need to jump through a lot of hoops in little time so I'm just not sure if it's worth it. I just want to marry my FI... just not sure what's the best way to do it! Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I am just a little nervous about how I am going to get it all down there lol. The plane tickets are still really high. I can't believe it. I feel so bad because a friend of mine just paid $700.00 for a plane ticket. However, I was told that plane tickets should be going down in April for the spring so cross your fingers in luck. I still have about 15 people who RSVP'd but haven't booked their room or plane tickets yet. They still say they are coming... but these plane tickets may cause them not to. Yay 2 more months! I'm in the same boat as you but I have most things delivered to my work... the mailroom ladies have got to be wondering what is up! In the last week I've had chair sashes, passports, ties, keycard holders and wristbands delivered to work and this week I'm expecting water proof cameras, travel mugs, bags and more! Plus there are things I have yet to place orders for. The thought of how I'm going to get everything down is starting to make me nervous as well! Some things for our OOT bags are really bulky... the mugs especially have me concerned. YIKES! But I'm getting soo excited... My BD shoot is in 2 weeks and my bachelorette party and shower are next month. It's all coming together! How's everyone else doing? How are the plans coming along?

My boudoir photo shoot is next Saturday, we're finishing up our music list, mailing off the last of the favours (so we don't have to cart our mugs down to mexico, they can do it for us!), tanning and getting my dress altered. FI is still on the look out for pants and I need to get a pedi, a bikini wax, and go trip shopping for suits and capris. Are you shipping items to the resort?

My dress isn't extremely huge so I was going to put my daughters dress in the bag with it. If they provide the white covers is there a fee? Do they put the sashes on for you? Mine just arrived in a box and are wrinkled... will I need to steam them or do you think they'll be ok? Thanks!

I'm getting really excited... it's crunch-time... I have done a lot but have sooo much to do yet... crossed off my list are invites (sent and RSVP's all in! 31 booked!), OOT bags are almost done, BD shoot in one month as well as first dress fitting! Today I'm gong to buy FI's ring I have a furlough this week so I'm hoping to get a lot done - shoes, jewelry, sand ceremony kit, etc etc... AAAAHHHH!

Decreased RSVP response might mean less $$ out of your pocket and maybe a more intimate guest list? Don't let it get you down. No matter who is with you it will be a memorable trip/experience!! You are so generous to pay for half of your guests - wow! I'm sure they are super appreciative. We are paying for my sister in addition to ourselves and my daughter and that already feels like alot...so I know how tight the money can be. Start focusing on the fun of going away to get married, try to relax and enjoy the anticipation.... 3 months!!!
